Detailed Reviews
We loved our stay at the Patria Palace.. it has everything we could want or need. It enjoys an excellent central position opposite the wonderful Santa Croce and has spectacular views of the same from the beautiful roof terrace where you can enjoy drinks and snacks delivered to you from the hotel bar.
We had a room at the back of the hotel which was spacious, quiet, comfortable and beautifully decorated and fitted out with lovely furniture and fittings. The bathroom was large and although the shower is over the bath, the water was hot and plentiful and the towels/robes were fluffy and perfectly white.
Every member of staff we encountered during our stay was friendly, kind, courteous and helpful. From the front desk, the concierge, housekeeping to the waiting staff at breakfast, every question was answered, every need was fulfilled. Wonderful people who reflected our experience of everyone we met during our time in Lecce.
The hotel is stunning and very, very clean. Covid19 rules and restrictions were followed as we hoped and expected and we felt very safe during our stay. Masks are worn in all public areas and there are hand sanitiser stations at strategic points.
Breakfast is a la carte with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. There are a few buffet items available which are individually portioned or wrapped. In addition to the comprehensive a la carte menu there's fresh juice, cold water, sparkling wine, cereals, yogurt, fruit, nuts, plentiful teas and coffees.
We enjoyed our holiday in Lecce and staying at the Patria Palace made it all the more special. We would definitely return.
Our thanks to all the staff! Grazie Mille!

This hotel would be at top of market in almost any US city. Such a pleasant find in Lecce. With construction on building in front next to the beautiful church, we opted for room with terrace towards the back of the hotel. Room 308 itself was small but terrace enlarged it and gave us a suitable sitting area (and place to dry clothes we washed in sink). Well located in center of historic area. Staff very helpful and accommodating. On arrival by car, you follow the small signs to hotel, through pedestrian only plazas, etc. Ignore Google Maps and just look for and follow the signs. Roof top bar and restaurant. Breakfast on ground floor and outside was outstanding. Eggs cooked to order; granola and yougurt; sample of local savory and sweet selections; juicy sweet melon; fresh juices; and made to order juices from vegetables, etc. I stayed there twice in two weeks, and have zero complaints or criticisms, which is unusual for me.

First of all, the location of the hotel is amazing. You are exactly where you want to be. Close to all the sites and yet tucked in a little corner away from any noise.
The hotel itself is lovely and the staff are very welcoming and helpful.
The breakfast is fresh, delicious and everything is presented very nicely (best I’ve seen in covid times)
Now for the reason why I can’t give it a five star. When we arrived the air conditioning was not working in our room along with the telephone and the fridge. It was during a mini heatwave so all the water was warm and the room was boiling.
We tried to sleep that night but had to ask the desk if there was anything that could be done. They gave us another room for the night and assured us that everything will be fixed the next day.
The next day the fridge was fixed but the ac and the phone were still broken even though they told us it was fixed. When we asked if anything could be done they told us it was because we left the windows open that the ac wasn’t feeling cold (which wasn’t true)
They offered us another room which had a much better ac. The bathroom was much smaller and the tv didn’t work, but by now I just wanted a room that was not hot and felt bad complaining again.
By the end of the stay we had had warm drinks, one sleepless night and a downgraded room so when it came to pay at the end I was expecting a reduced price or at least the drinks from the mini bar to be taken off the bill. We got nothing, which I found a bit mean.
The staff always listened to our questions and complaints and were never rude, however I feel a bit hard done by at the end of the trip

Checked in for a quick stay - leaving at 4am the next morning to the airport. The room was fine. The location excellent. Didn’t go to the restaurant - pretty expensive. Since we were leaving before breakfast, we were told they would supply us with a bagged breakfast. They duly took down my request for a vegetarian one. So, we didn’t bother to buy breakfast things for the early departure. The next morning everyone in our group (15) got the same bag: bottled water, small juice, a green banana, and a few small dry cookies . A 5 star hotel gave us what we’d get in coach seats on a plane. Really? I guess they figured we weren’t coming back. They were right.

We have stayed in Lecce 2x, once here and once at the Risorgimento. Although both are very good, we preferred the Patria for the outdoor terrace quiche came with our room, although it was only enjoyable;e at certain times of day. Hr Santa Croce Basilica and next to the Jewish Museum. In any case, Lecce’s historical center is very small and everything is easy to reach. The Patria has a tiny restaurant that is elegant and has good service and a menu that offered a welcome relief from the staples of southern Italian cuisine, but no one seemed to eat there for some reason.

Absolutelly wonderful stay. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. Great staff, very helpfull. Location is also great, walkable to everythig in the old city. We were upgraded for no reason and the room was one of the best we have ever been at. Also for no reason we were offered chocolates and champagne in the room. We loved everything about this hotel. Parking is with valet and free of charge, Incredible breakfast, must try the cornetto filled with pistacho sauce. We made a normal reservsation for a normal room but were treated like owned the hotel. Thanks to everyone at the Patria Palace.

The Patria Palace Hotel is an eighteenth-century palace that stands majestically and elegantly in the heart of Lecce.
Inside the terrace houses the ATENZE restaurant
intimate, elegant, refined environment, with an enchanting and unique panorama, with an exceptional position, an atmosphere of pure tranquility.
Just as styles blend with the classic and modern in the location, so the catering is captivating and delicious, with a combination of flavors that make them unique and unforgettable dishes.
Everything is absolutely perfect and does not fault in anything.
The extraordinary Chefs Stamerra Cristiano and Bruno Ivan make the tasting process of their dishes a continuous adventure to delight all taste buds with harmonies of traditional and contrasting flavours, always seeking taste and harmony in the presentation of each dish.
Added to this setting is a unique and rare welcome from Maître Errico Matteo, who is in charge of the room and the manager of his entire team. Courtesy, politeness and professionalism are the expressions that make Atenze and Patria a an irreplaceable place considering that I have been spending my holidays in Salento for years and I consider it essential, several times, to choose to dedicate myself to lunch or dinner or an aperitif, unforgettable moments that I carry in my heart.
Chapeau

This hotel is in the very centre of town, not quite pedestrianised but very few cars. All the sites of the old town are within an easy walk. Rooms very spacious and comfortable, ours looked over the front which was a great view. The hotel was spotless and very well managed. The breakfasts were excellent but service was perhaps on the slow side but very friendly. Would certainly recommend without hesitation.

Response from PATRIA PALACE HOTEL, Direttore generale at Patria Palace Hotel
Responded 2 Oct 2020
Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and for the nice words. Our breakfast is indeed something our guests appreciate. Due to the Covid issue we have decided to go almost completely a la cart, meaning all the food is cooked at the moment for the guest. Eggs, bacon, cold cuts, fish, fresh juices, smoothies, everything is made when the client ask for it; of course this procedure can take more time than serving pre-made food but we believe it is worth it for both palate and safety reasons. Once again thank you for staying at the Patria and look forward to welcoming you back again.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional friendly and professional staff. Very convenient to see all of historic Lecce - once you’ve managed to drive in the hotel will park your car. Good visit to the beach in hotel car with umbrella hire included.
Well presented and appetising breakfast served outside listening to pleasant piano player . Good restaurants nearby serving modestly priced local dishes. Thankyou for very pleasant stay.

Had a beautiful room on the 1st floor (that's the second floor in Italy as 1st floor is 0) with wonderful view overlooking the front of the hotel. Service was wonderful. Breakfast was fantastic with a huge spread of anything you could want for breakfast and then some. Traveled with Road Scholar group as a single person in a group of 20. Great experience.

Hi, sorry I can't really help, I'm in Scotland and have no idea about travelling from the US to Italy. We flew direct from Manchester, England to Brindisi, Salento. I do think it's possible to fly from Rome to Bari, might be worth checking out.
