In all the years of going to I managed to have the one and only bad restaurant experience ever at this place. My wife and I asked at approx 10-15pm if we could have a table for two. (most restaurants at the lake front close up around 11pm) Certainly said the waiter. As soon as we were sitting, he wanted a food order. Asked of we could have a drink whilst deciding. My wife ordered a vodka and tonic, and I ordered a glass of white wine, and a bottle of water for the table. 2 mins later a glass of neat vodka arrives with no mixer, the bottle of water, and no wine. The waiter immediately asks again about choosing food. I ask where the rest of the drinks order is, and he immediately flips his lid telling me they're on their way. (they were not) Unfortunately for him, my Italian is fairly good, and I managed to get my point across, at which point an embarrassed female waitress came over to try and calm the situation. Meanwhile the male waiter is still snarling in myself and my wifes faces. Asked if I could please just have the bill for the vodka and the bottle of water, and was duly charged 12 euros for the privilege. At this point the waiter began to say to my wife "can you please tell your stupid husband......." So, this set my wife off, and two of us were now very angry. Went to the restaurant right next door, and we were served and fed with absolutely no problem. I genuinely have no idea what the waiters problem was at the Giardanetto. Should say, whilst paying the 12 euro bill, as if by magic the glass of wine I ordered appeared, but had even more magically turned itself into a full bottle, which a 3rd waiter was about to open. Thankfully enough he didn't, as he was alert enough to read the situation. Whoever the dark skinned waiter was, he managed to completely ruin the night, and as I said, gave me the one and only bad experience of 20 years of travelling to Italy. Avoid the restaurant until such times as he is not there.

The staff was rued and the menu sucked. Look up google map, then you will see their response to the reviews given to both hotel and restaurant . Our experience isn’t unique and they should improve their service.

We had 5 lovely days here. Another booking went wrong so we came hee and asked if there was a possiblity that we could get a room for 5 days. We really wanted sea view so we had 2 Days in room # 14 a smaller room and then the last 3 dyas we had the beautiful room # 5 olocated on the first floor with a small balcony where 2 can sit by a table facing the lake. A nice big room, air condition and a good bed. We really enjoyed it and the breakfast was perfect. We hope that we will be able to return and stay here next year.

Late review, we stayed back in May 2012. Things may well have changed, but, always wanted to late everyone know what a wonderful time we had. I’ve some some negative reviews, but always feel it’s all about expectations. Yes, the room was basic, we had no real view of the lake. But, for what we paid, we were pleasantly surprised. Considering the location and helpful staff. We stayed B&B and absolutely loved the breakfast. Fresh bread delivered each morning and great coffee. Also a nice bonus that the hotel also seemed to be the beat restaurant in Garda!! There are probably more luxurious and better equipped hotels in the area, but for what we paid, hard to find a better location. It’s a boutique style hotel with a family feel. Which suited us. Definitely stay again.

I am writing this review as a third party, I didn't actually stay here (Lucky). I happened to be there in the restaurant area when I saw what you call as any customers nightmare. I have never in my life seen such rude staff. They were arguing with customers who had booked the hotel but had not checked in the day prior because they originally were meant to book a different hotel in Desenzano with same name. The customers were polite and asking to charge for the day despite not staying but refund for next day which they refused to. Booking.com's no show policy on non refundable booking says you will be charged for the 1st day with other admin charges. The rude lady at reception said she will not refund. The customer then asked if they could have their room instead if they have already been charged which again was refused because they gave the room away. The greedy owners wanted to make double the money by selling their room to another customer but also keep their money. The customers showed their entire email conversation where they were told if they didn't turn up they will be charged full amount for all days but the room will remain empty and they can come and check in if they wanted to on any of the booked days. I saw the email conversation too. But now they were refusing to refund half the money or offer the room. The customers said that is fine too but just give us that in writing so they could send that conversation to booking.com and raise an issue with them. The rude lady at reception asked them send her an email via booking.com and said she will reply to that. As the customers were writing the email to her from the reception area whilst discussing amongst themselves the other staff asked them to get out in very rude way. One of the lady customers started filming it for proof of their rudeness when the receptionist came out abusing at them and almost threw the phone away and went physical with the lady who was filming it. The lady at reception who is now captured on phone and the staff kept abusing and shouting, the shocked customers left. In between there was another animated conversation happening with another frustrated customer in Italian. The overall vibe just felt very criminal and shady to say the least. I would warn everyone to avoid this hotel and restaurant. Working in hospitality industry this is the last thing you would expect. Please do not book this hotel.

I clienti in questione SEMPLICEMENTE NON SI SONO PRESENTATI A FARE IL CHECK-IN MA IN SECONDO TEMPO PRETENDEVANO IL RIMBORSO DELLA CIFRA GIA' PAGATA PER LA STANZA NON RIMBORSABILE PRENOTATA. ******* We are astounded at how certain people can be FALSE and HYPOCRIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO WRITE A REVIEW since you HAVE NOT HOSTED IN MY STRUCTURE and the attempt to look like a simple "passer-by" who witnessed the scene is ridiculous and pathetic, being friends of the customers in question and accompanying yourself . The customers in question SIMPLY HAVE NOT PRESENTED TO MAKE THE CHECK-IN BUT IN THE SECOND TIME THE PRIEST REQUIRED THE REFUND OF THE DIGIT ALREADY PAID FOR THE NON-REFUNDABLE BOOKED ROOM. That's all. The client's motivation was that he intended to stay in a hotel in Desenzano which unfortunately bears the same name as mine: Giardinetto. I think it's obvious that the blame for such an error cannot be blamed on me, but apparently the culprit for me is me. In spite of this, thanks to the awareness that in finding an agreement, situations are always winning, initially I proposed different solutions to customers, which however have not in the least affected their arrogance and arrogance by continuing to demand reimbursement or accommodation in a room that does not it was their most due from the "no show" of the previous day. Now, spreading a pitiful veil on the questionable ability to understand and want that you lack, I would like to shed light on the extreme MALEDUCATION and the INCIVABLE BEHAVIOR kept inside the hotel during the RESTAURANT'S SERVICE TIME (and therefore well beyond the time foreseen for check-in) manifested by the "gentlemen" SCRATCHING, IMPRECATING, INSULTING AND TRYING TO RESUME WITH THE CELLPHONE THE SERVICE STAFF (which violates the most basic and rigid laws on privacy in Italy). I urge you to review your statements on the matter since otherwise I will legally move to protect my rights and the rights of my service personnel.

We chose this hotel due to the convenient location on the lake with many restaurants and shops nearby. Even though location is in center of town our room was quiet. Our room was a reasonable size. The staff was cordial. The restaurant was very good. Breakfast was included with room. The breakfast had a good selection, however the eggs and meat that should be served warm had no warmers used so food was cold. I would definitely stay here again.

On the 28th September my wife and I and our best friends celebrated my 40th birthday with lunch by Lake Garda From the moment we saw Giardinetto we knew we were going to experience something special. The setting and the presentation were stunning. We were then greeted with a fantastic welcome from the head waiter who knew exactly who we were and remembered all about my wife's food allergies from memory (I had emailed a list in advance) For the entirety of the meal the service was simply incredible. It was so nice to see someone with such passion, pride and detail in their work. And the food. Wow. The food was amazing. All fresh seafood from the Garda area and it was cooked and presented beautifully All in all the four of us agreed this was one of the finest lunches we have ever experienced. Can't recommend highly enough

I have visited Italy many times before and currently on my annual 3 week holiday in bardolino. i am proud to say that you have to look very hard to find bad food in Italy(except in Venice where all food is bad), but the restaurant at this hotel served me the most horrendous food - and even more expensive than at the center of Verona. The Chef has clearly no experience outside raw fish and even the grilled fish of our neighbours looked horrible! The whole meal was just wrong - and i should have known beforehand when it arrived on a blue plate - one never serves food on blue plates, accept for kids at home. Supermarket sauces for the fillet include a fish sauce which is just wrong for a piece of bad beef fillet! I recon there has been an owner change as the food used to be wonderfull here a few years ago. Rather skip this overpriced-bad food experience and go somewhere else, there are more than enough to feast on around in this area!

Buongiorno a lei Sig. Cordiali saluti

The hotel location is stunning however we were very disappointed with the total lack of service provided. The bedrooms are cramped and basic with very poor showers which did not provide constant water in terms of pressure or temperature in very outdated bathrooms. During a three night stay our sheets were not changed and the bins in the bedroom not emptied on a daily basis. Breakfast was very much a help yourself affair with little monitoring by staff as to when items such as bread ran out - a frequent occurrence. There was a general lack of any kind of service by the hotel staff. We were told in no uncertain terms by the very rude head waiter that we were not to enter the hotel by the main door and walk through the restaurant but should enter by a side door even though we were paying guests, being made to feel very much like second class citizens. On departure there was at least three staff in the reception area and not one of them could be bothered to either assist with our luggage or even open the door for us! Needless to say we will not be returning.

Buona giornata

Can't fault the location or the food, the only negative thing for me was the aggressive nature of the head waiter outside. As a paying customer I don't need a waiter telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing. Italian male machismo at its worst. What a shame, the rest of the staff were great.
