Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very central, charming "old style" B&B, among antique furniture, collectibles and family memories: it feels like being at home, and with all the comforts. The added value is the cordial and attentive welcome of Filippo and his father, generous with advice, which makes breakfast (excellent) a pleasant moment of chat to start the day well. To be recommended!

Even if late, I must praise the correctness, seriousness, availability and friendliness of the owner Mr. Filippo who makes the stay in his structure a pleasure. Not as "guests" but "family", always ready to recommend the best restaurants in the area and the best sites to visit. On the other hand, the location of your b&b is absolutely central and therefore ideal for staying in Ferrara, a beautiful and inviting city. Enviable cuisine, shops, places to visit and definitely worth seeing again. Thanks for everything and congratulations. Cordial greetings. Loris Tesselli and Angela Fanti.

in a central location, welcoming, clean and full of history, the structure managed by Filippo, attentive and that makes you feel at home, is certainly promoted with flying colors. Also excellent breakfast based on handmade products and where even the eye has its part, in a room full of paintings and antique furniture. Congratulations and thank you.

A charming city centre B@B on a quiet street. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, furnished in a slightly old fashioned way but that is part of the charm. There is (chargeable) parking close by.

Locanda Borgonuovo is a bed/breakfast inn -- in a fantastic location, arround the corner from the Castle. The room (ours) was small, but with a very nicely appointed bath (linen -rather than terry cloth- towels -- they feel and function great !). Breakfast is served in a room with collections of paintinigs and local art objeccts. The Family who own and manage the inn are lovely, knowledgeable people, who are genuinely committed to Ferrara, 'a city of art,' and to hosting guests to their beautiful inn and the city !

The Locanda Borgonuovo is a wonderful place to stay in a very beautiful city. The family running the guest house are charming and very helpful. The personal touch includes the best Italian coffee with freshly made cake to wake up to, and very informed suggestions as to where to explore and where to dine. The location could not be better, just around the corner from the fabulous Piazza Cattedrale. Spotlessly clean, classy place to stay in a city which is perfect for relaxing, wandering around the Renaissance streets and gardens, and very accessible, being on the main train line from Venice to Florence. Not at all touristy, and a short hop from Ravenna and Bologna. What more can I say?

If you are looking for an opportunity to experience the true flavor of the region, there is not a better location than Ferrara and Locanda Borgonuovo! The city is truly beautiful. Everyone from kids to 90 year old ladies ride bicycles everywhere, contributing to the charming nature of this city. Mrs. Orlandini is one of the best hostesses we have ever encountered anywhere in Europe. From the moment that you enter the Locanda, you are truly made to feel as if you are in your own home. From touring advice in the city, to the best local restaurants, Mrs. Orlandini and her husband insure that every day here will be a wonderful experience.

The Locanda is not plush, so if you're looking for a five star experience, this is not the place. Rooms are typically European, on the small side, but bathrooms are lovely, breakfast is fabulous and the cappucino is some of the best in the city! Ferrara is a perfect base for exploring the region, being an hour or less from Venice, Verona, Ravenna and Bologna. The Locanda can also make arrangements for you to visit one of the spa villages less than an hour from the hotel, which is definitely something we will take advantage of on our next visit. The day that we visited Venice, we could not wait to get back to the Locanda! We can't wait to go back.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for just one night!!! If only I knew. Had spent the weekend in Balogna and had to meet friends on a Tuesday morning in Venice so we opted to stay in Ferrara for just one night.

We will return! Forget the big city. We want to use this B & B and the city of Ferrara as our home base and explore the region from there

As the property/main house was full we were given the apartment for the agreed to price, approx. 100E if my memory serves me.

Restaurant recommendations were fantastic. Well priced food that was some of the best we had during our 11 day stay.

The city and Locanda Borgonouvo are a real gem.

Is parking available?
Answer from Filippo O
1 contribution1 helpful vote
YES, it is. In private court in front of the Locanda, Euro 10 /24h. You can join the Locanda with your car without problem even if we are in the pedestrian area, cause we have an agreement with the police; once here we'll take a photo of your car and we'll send it to the police. Kind regards, Filippo
