Great location literally ski to the steps to the underground parking where the ski lockers are then short walk into the Hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff. An excellent gym which serves the community so good kit and cardio ( should you need it after a day on the slopes?) a lovely pool and four or five different saunas/steam rooms for relaxing.
A great bar and restaurant across the beginner slope called Harralds good prices cappuccino €1.50 pint of beer €5 glass of wine €5.50 plus you get a plate loaded with crisps, salami, pizza bites and cheese squares it’s amazing. 10 minute walk into the town centre which is packed with nice bars, restaurants and shops with designer brands. Again prices in bars/cafes are so reasonable. We usually ski in France which is way more expensive.
The lift passes are very cheap too although ours was built into the package.
But the best thing about this Hotel is the food!!! Absolutely fantastic!!! 4 courses at dinner, really varied and minimum of one veggie choice each evening. A choice of lovely wines at reasonable prices €18/€22 for us - more expensive for the connoisseurs!!
Very professional staff. Big shout out to Giovanni and Mohammed. So friendly and attentive a real asset to the dining room.
An extensive breakfast choice hot and cold, tea coffee and chocolate available at the buffet or speciality coffees on request.
There is a free bus service to Jafereau which offers amazing slopes and is higher than Bardo again with really nice bars/cafes on the slopes. There is a short walk to the bus stop from the hotel ( about 3 minutes!)
Altogether an amazing holiday good skiing, nice lively location and excellent food - we will be back!!

We are here for a skiing holiday, wow! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much of a problem. The rooms are so beautiful and clean. The food is outstanding, amazing buffet breakfast with so much to choose from. In the evening there is a huge buffet which would be enough in itself but then there is a bountiful choice of starter, main course and desert! The wine list is extensive and the house wine is delicious at only €4 for a huge glass! Drinks are generally very reasonably priced. The restaurant staff are so friendly and helpful, made us feel very special. The hotel has so many facilities, incredible spa and pool, a lovely bar and many shops in the complex. There is a secure ski locker room in the lower ground floor to store all ski equipment and the slopes are right outside the back door. I dropped my ski pass in the locker room and my son dropped his gloves there, we found them in the locker room a few hours later - it is so safe here and everyone is so friendly. If I could leave 6 stars then I would, this hotel is the best and we shall be returning! A huge thank you to all of our new friends at Hotel Rivé!

Great location and very easy accessible to the chairlift and ski school. Standard rooms are too small and basic for 2 adults and 2 children. When we asked for bigger room the manager was quite rude and very unhelpful. We had to upgrade and pay extra 500 euros for bigger room. Upgraded room was very nice and cleanliness was very good.
With exceptions of few dishes food was far from the 4 star hotel. We had much better food in 3 star hotels previously. Breakfast was very basic and same every day. During the dinner, staff was checking your plates and asking if you have finished even before you finished your last bite. Dinner slot is too short, 19.30-21.00 so they are pushing to finish it as soon as possible.
If you are looking for great location and nothing else this is hotel for you!

Pros:

Great location next to the slopes and ski lockers provided in the basement.
Rooms are a good size with plenty of storage.
All areas nice and clean.
Food is okay with a decent choice at breakfast, you pick your starters and mains for dinner at breakfast time. Its a little odd because the main course is served without any sides eg no potato's, rice or side veg etc but although its a strange way of serving food I never went hungry.
The spa is nice but do make sure you take flip flops and a swim cap. I forgot to take flip flops and they charged me 4 euro for a pair of disposable ones that lasted about 5 minutes when I skidded in them and one broke.
The area felt very safe to walk around and some lovely shops on the main street.

Cons:

The beds are very hard and uncomfortable.
The men in the next room were very loud and inconsiderate and you could hear everything they were saying/singing.
Harolds Bar, a bar opposite the hotel. If your in a room facing the slopes all you will hear from this bar is loud boom boom boom music (not even good music). It starts early morning and doesn't stop until 1:30 am ish. People leaving the bar shouting and screaming so if you were lucky enough to get to sleep you will be woken up. At 1:15 am one night the music was turned to full blast it was louder than any gig I've ever been too. This bar ruins what is a lovely resort.

Firstly the best thing about this hotel is the location. It’s ski in ski out and is directly on the slopes. Couldn’t ask for a better location really. The rooms are decent sized with comfortable beds and we had a lovely view of the slopes.

The restaurant is located in the garage and feels very very dated. The breakfast is served buffet style and features lots of pastries, meats, cheeses, scrambled egg, bacon etc. It was nice although got a bit samey day in day out.

Dinner was a buffet salad and a set menu of 2 courses. The salad was nice but the other courses were awful. The portions were tiny and just tasted horrible. We had 5 children in our group and they were barely catered for. We usually go to Italy because you can really go wrong with pizza and pasta, but you can here! Not that we had pizza all week but an option would have been nice for the kids. Mario the waiter was lovely and very friendly. The others were miserable! Wine is extremely expensive the cheapest glass of red being 8 euro. We ended up going the the shop down the road and bringing our own bottle with us.

The worst part of the hotel was dogs are allowed. We walked out of the lift one morning to be greeted by dog poo all over the hall way! It was absolutely disgusting! We complained to the reception and they didn’t really seem bothered at all. The dog isn question would bark all throughout the day and all night. Why bring a dog on holiday if you leave it alone all the time.

The rest of the hotel including the reception area is extremely dated and needs a makeover.

If you want somewhere directly on the slopes and don’t care about food or where you’re staying this is the place for you. We won’t be back though!

Well located to the Campo Smith ski school starting point and lifts. Beds are hard if you like a softer variey. The cleaners work very hard, the rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. Free buses just outside are great to get to town or to other ski areas. Easy train journey into Turin from Bardonecchia. It's a quiet area but brilliant for families with the alpine coaster, climbing wall etc just outside. Plenty of sledding to be done in the evenings too. Lovely atmosphere in the lobby before dinner with families enjoying card /boardgames. Great chance for children & adults to mingle. Haralds is a restaurant bar very close and is great for apres ski. I really don't think the wellness /gym area are promoted to how good they are - the lovely pool with jacuzzi, saunas x 2, igloo, hamamm, steam room - lovely way to end a day on the slopes. Great for families.

A basic hotel in need of some TLC; the door to my room wasn't secure and looked like it had been kicked in before (would have asked to move rooms if I wasn't with my bf as I wouldn't have felt safe), the heating in the room was unmanageable and made the majority of the stay uncomfortable, the walls between the rooms / corridors were paper thin - and during the latter part of the week the hotel was hosting a big corporate event and due to their constant partying into the early hours of the morning, I barely slept for the last 3 nights of my stay.
The food and service was a bit hit and miss... so much so, on the last night we went out for dinner!
Despite the hotel being good access to the slopes, the resort wasn't impressive at all and the hotel leaves a lot to be desired - I wouldn't stay there again, I value my sleep too much!

Lovely hotel, ski boot room in basement so short walk to the piste. Ski bus stop short walk from hotel. Our room was very spacious with plenty of storage for clothes, reasonable sized bathroom, all very clean. Staff very friendly. Food in restaurant was superb. Visited pool/ spa couple of times also clean ( one sauna not working) nice bar area for pre /post meal drinks....if you could find the barman! The restaurant was a bit chilly most evenings. Evening was table service ( with buffet salad bar) waiters were excellent, with a good system for ordering wines/ water/ and meal for next day. Breakfast was all buffet with plenty to choose from but I would have liked to have some muesli or granola as option on cereal dispenser! But that is minor detail, would recommend to any one going to bardonecchia.

(Bit late to the review - we actually stayed March 2023).
Arriving in Bardonnechia, our expectations for the hotel were moderate. However, the food (especially the breakfast) was better than anything I enjoyed in Rome and the hotel staff were friendly. They could probably do with a couple signs disclosing the tourist tax but this is a government rather than hotel specific thing. The surrounding area was lovely and peaceful - if you want apres ski then go to Bansko instead but we loved being able to unwind in this peaceful town that didn’t feel like a massive commercial tourist enterprise.
The bathroom was massive, the lockers accessible and we loved being able to ski in and ski out. The ski area is probably best for moderate-advanced skiers (could be quite icy in places) but we enjoyed some of the quietest mountains ever in this place! Lovely to not be worried about bashing into young children or boarders for once :)
Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed with my partner in this hotel for one night only but I must say that I was very satisfied!
The room was spacious and had a small terrace overlooking the mountains with a beautiful view!
The giant bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is clean (the only flaw is the shower with tub which I personally don't like).
The hotel is located in Campo Smith right under the slopes and is a 5-minute drive from the center of Bardonecchia so the location is super!
Very varied breakfast: as regards the savory alternatives you will find scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, cold cuts, sliced and thin cheese, lots of sweet alternatives of brioches, yogurt, cereals and fruit!

Hi Lorraine, Slopes are badly miss managed. Very large groups of skiers every Where who just take over the slopes. Management to lazy to use snow cannons also when no snow. Jaffrao up on the very highest points are ok but the most violent chair lift has to be got past first I recommend going to other slopes before this one, many are a lot better
