Detailed Reviews
We recently spent 4 nights at this hotel and enjoyed our stay. Situated just outside the old town of Alba (which is stunning) we were part of a UK group on a wine tour of Piedmont. The hotel is modern and bright if a bit corporate in design - the rooms were last refurbished in 2013. Our room on the top floor was at the front of the hotel which overlooks the ring road though we did not feel disturbed at night. Spacious with a sitting area, king size bed and walk in shower. Breakfast was buffet style and there is lots of choice which set us up for the day. We did not try the restaurant though people on our trip enjoyed it. What made it for us was the staff - we interacted with reception and at breakfast and they were all welcoming and helpful. We would happily stay here again.

The hotel is located very close to the old city center, you can everywhere within 15 minutes walking. It's 12 minutes to the train station and a bus runs directly in front of the hotel.
The hotel itself however would be more fairly rated as a 3-star international category. The rooms were clean, but bare, the beds very hard. There was no minibar or even a bottle of water in the room, no coffee nor tee. The view is to the bus carpark and a factory.
The elevators lurch, in the gym half the machines were out of order, the ones that did work were about 20 years old.
The breakfast was acceptable once, the next day we went out for breakfast, as it was the bare minimum and the coffee from the machine was not good.

Pretty hotel in prime location for Alba town centre. Staff were all lovely and really helpful. Food in restaurant was excellent and view from restaurant was gorgeous.
Good selection for breakfast.
Room was spacious and they had made sure everything was accessible for me as I am a wheelchair user.
Only downside was it was a little noisy at night.

+1
Alba is a beautiful place I stayed there in May 2006 and enjoyed wonderful food and great shops too! Morva is nearby and has breath taking views and as luck would have it a festa on the day that I visited. The town was alive with people in period costume marching and throwing red and white flags - a small local market had cheeses, oil, cakes and home made jams. Lunch at the castelli di saint victorria was superb for both the food and the location. A spot of wine tasting at Barolo is not to be missed either. I stayed in the centre of Alba at the Il castelli hotle, not bad, very clean and spacious but a little souless; however it was walking distance into town so that's a bonus.

We stayed here for 3 nights from 10/18-10/21. We were in town for the Truffle Festival and were lucky to get a room in town (I think it was the last room in fact). The room was very basic but clean and comfortable. Parking was easy and there were plenty of spots (even on this busy weekend). The elevators were some of the slowest elevators I have ever seen. It was often just quicker to walk. The room came with breakfast which was nice and included eggs, pastries, charcuterie, coffee, tea and fruits.
The location and staff is what makes this hotel stand out. It is on the edge of town so it is easy to get into and out of the hotel with a car (which is a must BTW) and, since the town is not all that big, it is an easy 5 minute walk to the heart of the festivities. Being a busy weekend for the Truffle Festival we appreciated the convenience as traffic can get quite bad closer to the center. We were particularly grateful on that Friday night. The local wineries provide a free tasting down the main street. By the end of the street we were in no condition to drive and enjoyed the short walk back to the room.
The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. We had to check out very early on our last day and they gave my wife a free coffee while she waited for me to get the car. They were able to help us with directions and gave us information on the festival that was very helpful.
There is a restaurant on the roof which gets good reviews, but with the plethora of Michelin Star restaurants in the area we did not get a chance to try.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in Alba. The hotel was in a perfect location, provided simple/clean accommodations and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for those who want an affordable hotel and save their money to enjoy the food and wine of the region.

We believed that Hotel Il Castelli would be the highligt of our Italian tour. We simply adored our clean room, excellent view and delightful breakfast on our first morning. However our good experience turned into dispair when we had no warm water for the second part of our stay. The situation was worsened by the management's handling of the situation. They mentioned it was out of their hands, but on their website they proudly claimed to have installed solar panels for heating requirements for the whole hotel's needs. This is blatant misrepresentation of the facts! This has not been a four star experience. We dont expect to pay the four star price!

Dear Guest I received your review on Tripadvisor about your staying in our Hotel. First of all, I would like to apologize again for the inconvenience. I understand that a problem like this can make your holiday disappointing. But I also would like to inform you that our solar panel system only provides electricity (and not warm water and heating). Warm water and heathing are provided since 17 years in the whole town by a private company, and this is just the second time that we have such a problem with them. As soon as the problem began, in the late afternoon, we immediately called them, but unfortunately they had to work on it a long and they were able to repair it only on the following mornig, about half an hour after your departure. This is what I wanted to explain you when I said that "the situation was not in our hands", and I'm sorry that you did not believe me. The Manager - Fabrizio Cane

A kudos to the team at the Castelli Hotel in Alba, Piedmont - Italy. Very efficient and fast service at the reception, honest room for the price, average breakfast for non-Italian people. I can suggest this place for his comfort overall, garage for your car is included in the room price, the location is really top.
The only suggestion is to upgrade the bedding quality, maybe without change too much a new and contemporary hotel standard mattress can give better customer satisfaction same as the guest supplier in the room, slippers etc.
Will return if in the area.

We visited Alba during the international truffle festival and were late in booking accommodations. Most of the hotels on our preferred list were sold out. We chose Hotel Castelli for its convenient location to the historical center.
The hotel is modern and very well-maintained. The rooms were average sized and for the most part comfortable. The pillows were exceedingly thin, however, and we had to double up on them. The decor is somewhat spartan. It reminded me a bit of a Hampton Inn in the U.S., but, again, everything as spotlessly clean. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was very good with a wide assortment of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt and even scrambled eggs.
The service was outstanding. The people at the front desk were very helpful, and over the course of our stay we heard them speaking Italian, German, French and other languages. They provided us lots of helpful tips. They even called ahead to our hotel in Verona to get information we needed on parking, as well as called some of the restaurants we booked in advance to confirm our reservations for us.
Good underground parking on site. We felt very safe coming in and out at any time of day.
During the Truffle Festival, there is a large fair across the street. It's very noisy at night until midnight. But that's not the hotel's fault. I would book a room that doesn't face the main road.
All in all, if you want clean, efficient and very reasonably priced accommodations in Alba, this is a good choice.

This hotel is located within easy walking distance of the center of Alba. Rooms are large and clean, and the staff was helpful. Alba is not very big, and this location was very convenient with a lavanderia (laundry), ATM, and many good restaurants close by as you head towards the center of town. There was even a wine store nearby with a great inventory (including older wines) that shipped to the US! It was also on what looked like a major road close to some roundabouts, which made it easy to drive off in whatever direction you chose.
One of the things I remember most about my room is that it had a great bathroom. There was a full bath, but no sliding door or curtain, so you had to exercise extreme caution to avoid getting the floor flooded during a shower. There was no facial tissue or clock. The room safe easily fit an iPad. When I first looked at the bed, I thought it was a king bed, but it turned out to be 2 smaller beds pushed together under a single large sheet. The wifi was slow, with frequent drop outs.
The included breakfast was good. There was an adequate selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, bread, pastries, cheese, cold cuts, etc. Scrambled eggs were available, but no breakfast sausage. Coffee came out of a machine with multiple buttons for the different types of coffee. I drank tea, so I don’t know the quality of the coffee. I would love to stay here again.
