The Palace Hotel Meggiorato garners praise for its blend of historic allure and modern amenities, with guests particularly appreciating the spacious and clean accommodations. While some visitors find the rooms' decor a touch outdated and have noted noise concerns, the hotel's central location is a hit for its proximity to shopping and pedestrian areas. The cleanliness, especially of the pool, often receives accolades. Although the service receives mixed reviews, with some instances of inefficiency, the overall value and professional staff contribute to a positive experience. Guests enjoy the amenities, including the thermal pools, but suggest there is room for enhancement.

The hotel is very large and has very wide corridors also suitable for those who have to travel with a wheelchair. We stayed in a triple room which was really spacious and bright (there is a window and also a French door to access the terrace, which is very convenient for drying wet swimsuits). There is even a walk-in closet in the room! The en-suite bathroom is large and has a large shower where two can wash comfortably. The towels have a very pleasant clean scent. Breakfast is a bit simple for a 4-star hotel, but all the essentials are present (both sweet and savory). At lunch and dinner there is a trio of first courses to choose from, then you choose a second course from four different options and finally there is a dessert (cake, ice cream or fruit). Drinks are paid separately. The pool area is large and the water is nice and warm. There are hydromassage jets of all types (back, geiser, bed, cervical waterfall...). To relax there are free beach loungers, both indoors and outdoors. Outside there are also umbrellas. Very functional is the fact that each hydromassage station has its own button to start it; you therefore don't have to wait for the hydromassage to start on its own but can activate it whenever you want. The hotel offers various spa treatments: we did the salt cave. We really enjoyed the experience and it was also much appreciated by our daughter who had a blast making salt castles! The top aspects therefore are: the walk-in closet, the pleasant clean scent of the bath towels and the buttons to activate the hydromassages.

Despite its retro structure and furnishings, the hotel enjoys an excellent location at the beginning of the pedestrian street and near a park. The large rooms could be modernized with lighter furnishings such as the bar and hall common areas. I expect a spa hotel to have a kit in the bathroom...shower shampoo cream slippers...
The breakfast room on the 4th floor requires more directions to reach it.

The overall rating is positive compared to my expectations.
I made a last minute booking with an excellent offer from an economic point of view and I appreciated the availability practically a few hours before departure. As well as the very affordable price for a full board.
The structure has its age but this is not necessarily a weak point. The room is beautiful, as are the large rooms on the ground floor.
I appreciated the spa services and the mud baths that I treated myself to one morning to relieve an annoying back pain (and I must say that I returned home healed, which I don't like, also because two days later I had to leave for Egypt).
I pleasantly used the swimming pools and, even if there were a lot of people, I generally always found a place on the sunbeds.
So on the relaxation front, nothing to say. I wanted to relax and I was relaxed and well prepared for the next (also pleasant) holiday.
I least appreciated the attitude of the staff, I'm honest. The pool staff, for example, who I approached with due politeness, always gave me annoyed responses compared to the normal instructions I needed to use the facility.
In the swimming pool itself there is rightly an obligation to wear a swimming cap, but when someone didn't wear one the aforementioned staff said nothing. They only intervened if other customers pointed out the matter, rightly annoyed.
As for lunches and dinners, portions are not abundant but good variety. However, I must say that only once did I ask for an encore for something I particularly liked and it was brought to me.
The waiters, however, were a little confused in their service. Maybe they arrived a little after I had sat down, they passed in front of me looking at me and pretending not to notice my signs. Sometimes I have been served hastily in the final minutes after long long waits, with customers who arrived after me regularly attended to. Even at breakfast, to have a cappuccino, most of the time I had to get up and block the waiters in their path, otherwise they wouldn't get past me. Only one was kind and in fact I called her even when she was assigned to places far from mine. I don't remember the name but she's from Milan, a little Italian, a little North African. Your bosses will know how to recognize you.
However, I made friends with the lady at the next table and we laughed about it... she was at dessert, they hadn't even asked me what I wanted.
Staff to be reviewed, so to speak.
The ladies cleaning the rooms were very kind, at least them and also the girls at the evening bar, with whom it was a pleasure to have a chat. I understood the night porter, given that to sort out some work things, perhaps in the evening I would sit at the PC late in the reception area and I was the last to get up.
However, given the need for relaxation I had... I thought about what was the priority and therefore okay.
Personally I would go back, but if I had to recommend it... well. Those who look at certain personal details may not appreciate it

The hotel is in good condition both inside and out, you notice and appreciate the various improvements that have been made. The standard double room is very large, with a small entrance where to store shoes and coats, the bathroom is windowed and equipped with all amenities (special find the towel warmer on the wall, not by everyone). The original interior and exterior fixtures remain that clash a bit with the modern furniture that has been created. Strange that in a 4-star hotel they don't give guests room slippers. The reception at the reception was not the best but given the pre-Christmas period you pass over it. What is unacceptable from a 4-star hotel is the restaurant service presented to us:
- food worthy of a company canteen
- with a plate of mussels did not bring a saucer for the shells
- there are not enough cheeses and the waitresses have to turn like spinning tops to pass it at each table
- extra cutlery is carried without a napkin, but only in the hand turning around the entire room
- coats must be left out in sofas for a past incident in which a waiter spilled food. It would be enough to place clothes racks in the restaurant room
- the central buffet food is cold
- it is not possible to have a coffee at the table but only at the bar which is owned by an external manager so you always need to have your wallet with you (even if you want an aperitif in the pool you must pay for it immediately, without being able to charge it on the room)
- waiting staff and bars not adequately prepared, lack of professionalism
- scalded pasta and blank pasta without butter or oil
But what is most unacceptable is the quality of the mattress: hard as a wooden board, so that all the benefits of the day are wiped out in the night and you wake up with a great back pain.

In short, to review several things before you can call it a 4-star, you expect more.

Arrival at 9.30am as communicated by email, the room was obviously not ready because check-in was from 3pm, we ask to use the swimming pool and they inform us that there are no changing rooms and we must use a room used for mud...so we do ,it's a shame that the rooms were full of those who were doing the therapy but luckily a very kind attendant found us a place since there were minors with us (3 children aged 2 years, 3 years and 10 years... very uncomfortable a swimming pool without changing rooms).
At 12 they give us a room (triple, with new furnishings, walk-in closet... very nice) after kindly asking for a solution for washing and tidying up the children before lunch.
After lunch they give us the quadruple room... on the mezzanine floor where the wellness is located: initially we think we were in the wrong corridor because it doesn't look like a part of the hotel dedicated to guests' stay, then we find the room... we go in and we're surprised
..old room, broken curtain, ceiling with damp stains and ruined plaster, not to mention the noise due to the motors or filters of the swimming pools located near the room... the only new thing was the bathroom (large and spacious).
I go down to reception and list these problems, pointing out that I could walk over the plaster or the broken curtain but not the noise, they send me a technician and the manager A., after several complaints and request for an alternative solution, tells me that it doesn't they have other free rooms (I was willing to move to a smaller room with one less bed) and that at 7pm they turned off the tubs and therefore the noise would no longer be there!! Which isn't true because it continued all night anyway (with less intensity but it was annoying).
With telephone agreements, during the booking, I had requested 2 bed rails, when I arrived in the room (around 1pm) they were not supplied, I called the reception who after a long time only gave me one one because they had to recover it in the other hotel...at around 9.10pm I called the reception and asked for the missing side rail, they told me that they would have delivered it after half an hour...we all fell asleep in the double bed (undefinable pillows and mattress) until, at 11.02pm, they wake us up to give us the side rail!!!! (The gentleman told us that he had tried to call our room several times but the phone never rang for us...maybe it was broken??!!!)..also in the corridor the lights were turned on with a photocell... .pity that you had to walk down half the corridor to get there!
There seems to be little organization and little attention to the customer!
The pools are beautiful and have potential, it's a shame that they lack maintenance and are dirty.
We ate well at the restaurant and the staff were very friendly.
More than a week of relaxation, it was a week of stress due to the lack of organization: request for 2 rooms and they placed them in different parts of the hotel... separate tables in the restaurant because they had no other solutions... oh well!!!!
In any case I advise the hotel to inform guests that the quadruple rooms are far from the rest of the rooms and close to the filters/motors of the swimming pools...!!

The furnishings of the rooms should be modernized, the minibar was completely empty, we bought drinks at the bar which is managed separately and therefore there is no possibility of charging in the room (this in my opinion is a disservice for being a 4 star ). The wait staff was hasty, I had the impression of having to eat through the funnel.....I asked what the desserts were, seeing as they weren't specified on the menu, I was told: "those over there" telling me to look the neighbor's table. I can understand that during high season the staff is under pressure but in a 4 star hotel professionalism should come first. If I can hazard a suggestion, increase the price a little and let guests find bathrobes and slippers in the room, perhaps not torn and worn. Unfortunately, not even the swimming pool satisfied me... it felt like, given the noise and games of the children, we were in a municipal complex, this is obviously not the fault of the structure.

My husband and I first stayed at this hotel in 2010; subsequently we returned several times, always finding ourselves very well. This time, however, we observed several critical issues:
1. in the dining room the wall lights had several non-working bulbs;
2. although the staff were very kind, they often failed to manage the distribution of meals in a functional way: sometimes too fast, so much so that they had to rush to finish a dish because there was already the next one on the table and it was getting cold, other times very slow ;
3. room as always large and welcoming but in need of maintenance, especially on the carpet, as can be seen from the photos I attach (and which unfortunately are all rotated 90° anti-clockwise - I was unable to straighten them);
4. slightly dated bathroom with cracks in the tiles, double flush of the toilet of which only one works, bidet hose not well fixed (see photo).
The bathroom and room were clean, although on my bedside table there were clear traces of a glass from the previous guest.
A particular case happened last Saturday: almost all the towels were removed from the bathroom without being replaced, due to the delay in deliveries from the laundry (but then it would have been better not to take away the used towels, I think!). The new supply arrived in the room after 5pm and was piled up haphazardly in the bathroom as seen in the photo.
What to say? The structure, the swimming pools, the services offered are very varied and interesting: we hope they will soon return to their usual levels. My review, far from wanting to be disparaging, finds an objective situation, in the hope that it can soon be improved.

I wanted to try this structure mainly for a question of price. Very large, clean room with recently renovated bathroom. Comfortable bed, adequate temperature. Breakfast not very varied, both sweet and savory with simple but good products. The only small suggestion I would give is that the jams in single-dose plastic packages aren't that great. A 4 star hotel could perhaps think of offering something more genuine. I appreciated that you could also have rice or soy milk. The breakfast room is on the 4th floor and is not very large. The hotel has 150 rooms so during busy periods you may not immediately find a free table. Swimming pool: on a positive note, they are open until 11pm. There is a fairly large indoor pool connected to the outdoor one and a second indoor pool (not connected) with many hydromassages. The latter is not very large and is crowded. The problem is that many of the hot tubs were not working so there was a lot of traffic in the water because clearly a lot of guests wanted to use them. I saw the maintenance man trying to fix it, some jets were restored, but many still didn't work. Sufficient pool cleaning. Unfortunately, some managers and technicians entered with dirty shoes without wearing shoe covers. Which is unfortunate. The pools are a little dated and there are some renovations to do in general. I believe this is the reason why the property offers a lower price than others. Considering how much I paid (85 euros per night full board) I am satisfied with the quality-price ratio. The restaurant is very positive. Friendly and quick waiters, rich and varied buffet, excellent food quality. If the pools are renovated in the future I will definitely return.

I stayed one night in a B&B in this hotel for the first time and, having already stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels, I can confirm that it is very disappointing. The standard rooms are furnished with very retro furniture, with a shower cubicle with broken seals, with a safe (not with an electronic lock) which can only be used if you leave a deposit of €15 for the key. They do not provide bathrobes and slippers for swimming pools unless paid for. There isn't even a bottle of welcome water in the room's mini bar. The minimal, standard breakfast, not at all exciting, with a discreet and not varied offer. The labels, laminated and dirty, were not present next to all the products and did not indicate any allergens. The staff is not very empathetic, welcoming and smiling. The facility is clean. Small outdoor garden and, for the most part, occupied by narrow parking. There are 3 swimming pools which are not large and with most of the shower heads not working. The space around the swimming pools is also very narrow.

We returned after a couple of years and can repeat the satisfaction we had the first time.

Numerous bathtubs and whirlpools, which allow its use even in the presence of many guests.
Beautiful, spacious, functional rooms, as well as the bathroom.
The only drawback is the TV, now really small compared to what is around even in less prestigious hotels or b & b.
Great restaurant, good breakfast.

A bit chaotic the indoor park, but somehow it resolves...
