It was a very nice stay in a lovely chateau! The person who welcomes you is absolutely adorable and his cookingskills are magnificent! We had breakfast every morning (18 euro) but it was totally worth it as all the ingredients were fresh. The rooms were big, you had a jacuzzi ( 25 euro/50min) and it made me totally zen. Must go!

This is like staying at the home of an acquaintance who happens to live in a chateau. It has none of the feel of a regular hotel. Francois is the host and cook both of which he does admirably. We had a delicious dinner the night we arrived and breakfast was also excellent with many local and home made goodies. The room was very large and was true shabby chic, it had an eclectic mix of old French furniture and teddy bears The swimming pool was nice and refreshing after a busy day of being a tourist.

Chateau LaMoune = Serene/Private/Comfortable
Let me begin by saying we could not have been more pleased with the accommodation, location and especially, our most wonderful host François and his team.

The chateau is beautiful, charming, inviting and combined with our host makes it irresistible.

We couldn’t have been happier with our host François; he went above and beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived at the gate, he greeted us with the warmest welcome and from that day on, treated us with his famous sumptuous dinners and breakfasts.

Merci beaucoup François d'avoir rendu nos vacances des plus mémorables, à bientôt.

If you'd like to experience the old-time charm of french chateau living, this is the place.
It is not a wine-producing chateau, it is a real home of the well-off family converted to Airbnb. It has all modern conveniences like plumbing and the internet, but its ambience is not a usual hotel greatly enhanced by its wonderful host and chef, Francois! We felt like friends or close relatives, really. Thank you Francois for personalized breakfasts and excellent referrals! We wish we could stay forever!

Stayed with family and two dogs for three days over Christmas and we all enjoyed it very much! We were lucky to be hosted by François who is a gem of a guy. Wonderful person, amazing chef! Massively enjoyed the conversations and food in the old kitchen.
Thanks again!
Will be back!

BTW: outstanding sleep quality! - Don't know why, don't know how... but there is magic in these chateau walls. Slept like a never before. Seriously.

We were at Chateau La Moune last weekend for a family gathering. Laetitia and Francois looked after us so well, none of us wanted to leave on Sunday. The house is beautiful and very well equipped. The food was delicious and our hosts made us feel so at home. We were able to completely relax and enjoy the gorgeous weather and have a brief revisit to the summer, before returning to stormy Ireland. I would highly recommend this fabulous accommodation for a break.

We stayed at Chateau la Moune for three nights, from the moment we arrived we felt at home! The Chateau is beautiful, lovely décor, pool, spa and gardens. We stayed in the Beige room which has a beautiful balcony overlooking the garden and the pool. The room is tastefully decorated and is very clean. We thoroughly recommend having dinner at the Chateau. Francois (who is also the host) is the most wonderful and passionate cook. He served us two starters, a main, cheese course and two desserts along with lovely wine. The setting is so intimate with candles and service that matches any Michelin star restaurant. Elizabeth who works with Francois is warm and really friendly.

What makes Chateau La Moune unique is the personal touch from Francois. He booked a wine tour for us, recommended places to visit in St. Emilion, restaurants etc. On our final day he invited us to go to a local market with him. This was such a highlight and a uniquely French experience. We were truly sad to leave as in three nights we felt so at home at the Chateau and made a friend in Francois. Cant recommend Chateau La Moune enough, avoid the tourist traps in Bordeaux and treat yourself to a unique experience.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful Chateau while travelling France early in September. We were very warmly greeted by the wonderful Francoir who we now call our NBF [newest best friend]. After the initial Skippy Jokes, [we are Aussies] Francois warmly showed us to our suite which had a 400 year old bed once owned by a past Queen [ hope she was past! no bumps in the night anyway..she must have liked us!!]. The room was very spacious with everything we needed. We got straight to finding our friends who were staying at a nearby Chateau, thanks to Francois who took us over there himself..brilliant! He then cooked a delightful first night meal which was much more than what we expected. Our friends were also invited to our second night meal at the chateau which we all loved. A tour of nearby Saint Emiellon wine district was organized for us all by Francois..what a wonderful experience and by chance the winery was called Gouday ..most apt for Aussies!. We would highly recommend staying at this chateau as the staff are so warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Situated very close to the Bordeaux city which is a must see and the wine districts, Montussen is not the best district, but the Chateau and close in proximity make up for what Montussen itself lacks. You won't be disappointed..look for the big black gates as it is a little hard to find..I would suggest you call Francois prior to your arrival and he will direct you right there easily.

If you are looking to be spoilt, enjoy delightful surroundings, great home cooked food, wine..jacuzzi AND spa treatments whilst half hour outside Bordeaux, then Chateau la Moune is the place for you! Just fantastic, one of the few places I will stay on a regular basis. Eric and all at Chateau la Moune are just super hosts and nothing is too much trouble. A truly fantastic, amazing and very relaxing stay...thank you! Tx

We were only there on for one night, but Francois was the perfect host. We learned a lot from him for the brief time we were there about all things French. The chateau is fantastic, and is exactly what you would expect (it is not a hotel - it is someone's home you are staying in!). Breakfast was good - the only criticism would be that going in March, they have not yet topped up the honey and jam pots ready for the season! If that is all you have to complain about, it must be good!
