Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked early and were so glad we did. Everything was absolutely perfect! The rooms were spotlessly clean, with beautiful views of the gardens from the patio. With so many activities to choose from in the area, the host offered some great suggestions and even setup tours at no cost. We highly recommend!

After 15 years we were back at Abel Tasman Lodge and even though we did have a fantastic stay in 2008, the improvements Jocelyn & Scott have made exceeded our expectations. Extreamly nice lodge. Comfortable beds. All You need in the kitchen for making breakfast, dinner and so. Further kitchen equipment in the "shared" kitchen near by at the lodge. Extreamly nice couple - Jocelyn & Scott. Always helpful and lots of suggestions for trips in and around Marahau. A "must stay place" if going to Marahau/Abel Tasman National park. 11 out of 10 stars

Jocelyn and Tony are to be commended..the Lodge has everything covered. Comfort, and thought to every need for tired, adventourous travellers. On site laundry, hot tub, boot cleaning stations, fabulously equipped camp kitchen, massage…and lots of helpful advice and knowledge of local eateries, walks etc. Our suite was fabulous. A beautiful view of the garden and mountains. 2 nights was not enough..I want a week at the Abel Tasman Lodge.

Absolutely perfect property in every which way. Very comportable beds, very clean and well renovated bathroom, fully equipped communal kitchen with outdoor BBQ. Private terrasses and nice communal outdoor space with pick-nick tables to have dinner on nice evenings. Above all, very welcoming hosts that kindly offered to organize our day trips...before it gets full up! (Thank you for this, it was awesome!) Walking distance from tbe Abel Tasman park entrance and two very good restaurants. Could not ask for a better experience !

A fabulous spot in a stunning area. Scott and Jocelyn were great hosts - friendly, welcoming and only too willing to book trips for us. Kowhai Suite was gorgeous with plenty of space to kick back and enjoy the gardens. All round, a great experience.

Super little hotel. Hosts can't do enough. Luxury interiors in what look like ordinary lodges. Hot tub - communal and needs to be booked - packed lunches and breakfast trays more than adequate. Well positioned for hiking trails, kayaking or water taxis. Delightful place to stopover and take in the beautiful Abel Tasman Park. Two decent restaurants locally but either small well equipped kitchens in rooms or a communal kitchen, so easy to self cater.

This is a very special lodge! It was so welcoming, walking into the chalet that was spacious, comfortable, warm and with so many thoughtful touches- a big set of shelves near the kitchenette, enough hooks in the lovely bathroom and the info. guide about the lodge that was written with a good sense of humour that was also an example of the friendly atmosphere throughout the whole lodge. It was very relaxing, looking out over the little deck to the well-kept gardens and lawns. The lodge is a short walk to the start of the National Park and to delicious eating options and also to beach areas. I can thoroughly recommend this lodge!

Spent 2 of our 24 nights on south NZ Island here, and it was the clear best accomodations we encountered. Room was spacious ( cathedral ceiling!), light filled, clean, and nicely decorated. Small patio looked onto lawn where local birds were happily posing for our camera. Kettle, dishes and fridge were handy for simple breakfast. Common cooking room (gas range, electric range, three sinks, lots of pots and utensils) was fun place to make a meal and bump into some fellow travelers. Laundry on sight. Walking distance to Abel Tasman park. Host very friendly.

We spent a fantastic 3 nights here as part of our special trip around NZ and loved it here! What a warm welcome from Scott, making us feel immediately at home. Our one bedroom chalet was wonderful; cleanly decorated with beautiful and local accents, a great bathroom and everything you need. We had breakfast delivered to the room on one morning and it was delicious. I’m coealiac and there were great GF options!). Fabulous location allowing us to walk to the park and to restaurants (check out hooked, also great for GF!). There was a wonderful garden, the opportunity to do laundry and really nice locally made gifts, honey etc. which you could buy from reception. But above all that, the friendly, warm and helpful welcome was what really made the difference; helping us plan our walk along the track, book water taxis, advise on GF friendly restaurants, mend the TV or just have a chat! Highly recommend, we would love to return one day!
