I stayed for 3 nights in the Creek House. Creek House is a new build - just like a box on a new subdivision. Its warm, comfortably and thoughtfully furbished, including hot shower and underfloor heating, But missing some warn in charm or character! Others have complained about the partying and noise, CH is too far away from the backpackers to be affected. However its TOO quiet- theres no TV (no problem) but theres no sound system to listen to music or the wireless. Be warned the kitchen has no basics- milk, tea or salt & pepper etc- but it is stocked with all manner of utensils. The weather was dire- huge amounts of rain and a chilly southerly for all but the day of departure. So I didnt get to enjoy the wrap round balcony and the fire pit. You are treated to views out to Tasman Bay and youre right next to the boundary of the Park.( It is strangely orientated for a new build:15degrees twist of the and the views would be unobstructed. Anyway- thats the architect in me) Over all, for what it was, I found it expensive and clinical. Hence the average rating. The owners /managers were strangely indifferent to my trying to make a booking. I never met, saw or heard from them in my time there. Not a problem really. Only contact was to ask if I'd overstayed :( I didnt. I would cautiously recommend and would stay again - if the situation required.…
Everyone that worked here was so lovely! I loved how cheery and friendly everyone was. One of my highlight stays in NZ. Had a twin cabin and all of the little touches were so nice- fuzzy blanket, table, cozy pillows etc. The shared kitchen was fantastic and the area is gorgeous. Thank you!
We were travelling in an motorhome and ended up staying here 4 nights. We loved it here. It is so quiet, relaxing, laid back, beautiful place to stay. The facilities are very good, and the on site store has all the essentials plus a bit more. The staff are helpful and great. This place is perfect for access to the Abel Tasman National Park. The track entrance is only a 2 minute walk away. All the kayak, water taxi's and other day trip companies are only a stones throw away, and there is an awesome cafe/restaurant/bar 2 minutes away. We'll be back the next time we are in this area.
We stayed here recently in the Creek House and was very impressed with the set up and space. The owners of the accommodation were super flexible as we have a little unusual circumstance which we needed to be catered for and the owners were amazing and allowing us to do what we needed to do. It was clean and tidy and comfy plus warm given the unusually cold weather at the time of our stay. The local birds were curious and friendly too. It was nice and peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended.
We had sold our house and were travelling around the country looking for a new home so had booked into The Barn campsite in Marahau over the Christmas period. We stayed for a month. Fabulous venue, Will and his team are super friendly and flexible. The camp is impressively clean and has fantastic amenities. It's at the beginning of the Able Tasman park and there is so much to do and see. Highly recommended, definitely put it on your bucket list.
