Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 2 nights in a cabin before doing the Abel Tasman walk. The location is scenic and close to everything you need in Marahau including the start of the Abel Tasman track. The kitchen facilities are fantastic and have everything you need. They also have an outdoor pool table, badminton etc.
The cabins are basic but have all you need - bed, power, space - and are well spaced out so that it is not noisy. They are also spaced out in such a way that all enjoy a nice outlook when sitting outside.
There's espresso coffee available on site as well as a selection of basic grocery items including milk, cheese, sausages.

Nice campsite close to Abel Tasman National Park. There was a good outdoor kitchen for the non powered campsite area which had BBQ, gas hob and sink with hot water. The campsite also provided tea towels and washing up materials. The showers were spacious and toilets were clean.

Such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere! We stayed in a double cabin which was extremely well presented, exceeded our expectations for campground cabins. The cooking facilities were spacious and had plenty of equipment. All of the staff were extremely friendly and the outdoor deck entertainment area was a great place to relax during the evenings or play some table tennis. We will definitely be back - such a great place for families and couples alike!

We stayed here recently in the Creek House and was very impressed with the set up and space. The owners of the accommodation were super flexible as we have a little unusual circumstance which we needed to be catered for and the owners were amazing and allowing us to do what we needed to do. It was clean and tidy and comfy plus warm given the unusually cold weather at the time of our stay. The local birds were curious and friendly too. It was nice and peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Wow, what a beautiful spot! These guys took us in on New Year’s Eve when a neighbouring camping ground turned us away after previously saying they had space! Lovely grounds with native plantings and awesome facilities. Great outdoor space with hammocks and large fire. We will definitely be back, thank you so much.

Lacking was the wifi connection and number of toilets (2 in the main area).
What made up for this was the big dorms with no bunk beds! And large kitchen! Also very close to the end of the coastal track so you can simply walk to your accomodation, it’s in sight when finished which was awesome.
Best part though was the yoga! Absolutely beautiful practice, perfectly led to the abilities of those involved. Attached is a view from the yoga deck. For $10 a session, it was so well priced! Highly reccomend.

The lovely Silke at the tourist office in Havelock insisted that my husband and I stay at The Barn. She sorted out our booking, bless her and confirmed with the duty manager by phone. She had tears in her eyes as she described the ambience of The Barn.
We were not disappointed. The Barn is one of those magical places. Situated at the south of Abel Tasman national park it’s a relaxed haven: the staff are amazing and SO helpful: make sure you get them to advise on the best kayak and walking adventures. There’s yoga available and ‘Ash’ the wonderful massage therapist and naturopath gave me a fantastic treatment.
The shared facilities are great: well equipped kitchen and lots of loos and showers.
We fell in love with The Barn and were very sad to leave. It’s a wonderful place.

I stayed at The Barn for much longer than I expected and had a hard time leaving again. I stayed in my car, which worked really well. If you get up early there’s a beautiful sunset. The facilities are clean and nice with spacious hot showers, a cosy living room area with a fire to make the cold winter evenings nice and warm, and a movie room with blankets and a big tv. Besides that, the vibe is at The Barn is very special and makes you feel at home. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they do a lot to make you feel welcome. It is placed within beautiful surroundings just by the Abel Tasman National park and there’s lots to do around. The Barn is a beautiful spot that I would definitely recommend to everyone.

We were travelling in an motorhome and ended up staying here 4 nights. We loved it here. It is so quiet, relaxing, laid back, beautiful place to stay. The facilities are very good, and the on site store has all the essentials plus a bit more. The staff are helpful and great.
This place is perfect for access to the Abel Tasman National Park. The track entrance is only a 2 minute walk away. All the kayak, water taxi's and other day trip companies are only a stones throw away, and there is an awesome cafe/restaurant/bar 2 minutes away.
We'll be back the next time we are in this area.

I took my family up to Marahau to do some exploring once Lockdown was over and we hit the jackpot. The Barn has fantastic facilities and is situated in such an idyllic part of the world.
If your travel around the top of the South Island I highly recommend you stay at The Barn. It’s a NZ Jem.

Depends on where you are, but the SIM card internet connection is very bad to null, so if you urgently need to stay connected I recommend buying the Wi-Fi (5$ for 10GB a day) or going to a cafe that is near The Barn and use their free WiFi.
