Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hostel, the staff were all super friendly and welcoming. The facilities are excellent and the fire with marshmallows helps with the super sociable atmosphere. Right at the start of the Abel Tasman trail, great hostel to visit and would definitely recommend!

I couldn’t be happier that I stayed in this amazing hostel. I had the best time and was so happy I stayed for four nights. They had really good common areas (even a cinema!!) and a really well equipped kitchen (haven’t seen a waffle maker and air fryer anywhere else!). This place just allows people to be social naturally, so it‘s really easy to connect to others. If you have the chance to go there, do it! It’s also a great place to stargaze at the beach, as there is no light pollution

Best hostel on the south island of NZ! After travelling the south I feel confident enough to say this. Nice rooms, very comfy beds, clean showers and toilets, the staff is really friendly, enough entertainment, and they provide marshmallows every night that you can toast over the fire. Would've liked to stay there longer but I had to get the ferry up north.

Fantastic place to stay. So much on offer from Pool Table / Darts and its own movie theatre with 5000 movies to choose from. Excellent facilities- kitchen was really well equipped. Very clean with super friendly hosts. Loved the marshmallows by the fire and the afternoon in the hammock. A property that surprises and delights! Great value for money and perfect location to start Abel Tasman hike.

Great location, and welcoming staff. Spaces available for parking on-site. Comfortable beds, each with 2 power plugs and a lamp. Beds located in basic but fine container-style dorm rooms. No lockable doors or storage. Each room has an a/c unit but no way for inhabitants to control the temp. I can understand why, but woke up cold in the middle of the night. Wi-fi did not work in the dorm room for me, but was fine elsewhere across site. Good clean bathrooms - shared toilet block but separate showers for male/females, plus an accessible facility unit. Shared kitchen big and good range of utensils/equipment as far as I could tell, but not very clean (probably more down to individuals staying than the place itself). Loads of stuff to do - books, board games, cinema, table tennis, picnic tables, outdoor cooking, garden chairs, hammock, marshmallows to toast on the fire pit.

This place is outrageous. A perfectly designed and laid out area with everything you could want in a hostel. Big kitchen, burger van(bus), pool, table tennis, darts, great showers firepit....and then all just 5 mins from the beach too. Only had one night here but could have stayed for weeks. Cracking spot

Perfect for our situation. Gorgeous grounds. Cozy beds. Hosts are responsive communicators. We arrived with groceries and hosts help us get the grills fired up. We played pool and walked to the beach nightly. Will be back!

We had a lovely stay here. The hostel is in a beaut location, very nice outdoor seating and common areas, nice kitchen and indoor area too, even has a cinema! The bathrooms were reasonably clean and enough of them. The door room was decent enough, comfortable bed and had a light/plug socket at each bed. Friendly staff. Good price. Overall very happy with our stay
