Amazing hostel with everything you need! The common areas are great with free pool tables, darts, ping pong and an amazing cinema. Rooms are away from the common areas so there are no noise issues. Beds were comfy and stable and provided individual lights and power points. The staff were great, always friendly and in a good mood and create a very welcoming atmosphere. Kitchen was big and clean and provided lots of tea towels. The food they served was delicious and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend staying here when you come to Marahau!

I really loved the place, it’s has a great vibe and the owners are incredibly nice, kind and there to help for anything you need. It’s closer to kayak renting companies which are awesome and offer activities in reasonably price (hostel’s advice). Had amazing conversations in all the cool lounges you can find, has a very cool cinema room, the room was clean and had light and electric to charge electronic devices. The only thing I think there is to improve is the rooms (at least the one I’ve been into) don’t have storage spaces for my stuff which is quite odd since it’s backpackers oriented.

Every single thing about this place makes you feel like home. The people are amazing, always happy to help you out and give you and hand wherever they can, there is live music nights where the hostel comes together and bonds. And on Thursday nights Meg gets the hostel down to the Park cafe for their open mic night which was such a good night out. The location to the beach is perfect and the access it has to the Abel Tasman walkway and the activities provided in Marahau is unbeatable
10/10 would recommend to anyone who is planning on staying anywhere near Marahau

If you’re comfortable with dorms and cooking for yourself this place may work for you as it is very convenient for getting into Abel Tasman NP however if you want any semblance of comfort please read on. If it’s raining be prepared to get wet as the bathrooms, showers, kitchen and common area are in separate buildings from the dorm rooms. Many reviews say that it is “very clean” however the garbage in the men’s bathroom was overflowing. There are two tiny sinks with no counter space to brush your teeth, wash up etc… be aware that there are only dorm rooms here without any privacy curtains so you really have no privacy which may suck after a long day of hiking in Abel Tasman. The “town” of Marahau itself is pretty meagre. There is one restaurant in town connected to the Abel Tasman Centre which of course charges high prices. My recommendation is that if you have a car stay 15 minutes away in Motueka where there is far more variety for food and accommodations.

The hostel was by far the nicest we have ever stayed, we don’t usually looks hostels due to lack of privacy however the placement of the bunk beds made it so much more enjoyable as you had privacy whilst being in a shared space. We loved using the cinema, it had every film we looked for and the burgers from the food van were unreal! It was such a warm community, the owners always checked you were okay and made an effort to make you feel welcome. We travelled with the Kiwi experience to Abel Tasman however decided not to stay in the same hostel as this one was much closer to the national park, making the whole experience cheaper. We were kindly picked up by the Adventure Inn shuttle so we didn’t have to worry about making the trip there on our own as it’s quite far out of the way. Although Abel Tasman is an amazing national park, we were tempted to return due to our experience with Adventure Inn and how much we loved it there!

I adore this hostel! The guys who work here are top notch, for customer service and banter! They serve delicious barista coffee for $5 every morning and give you lots of local tips and advice. One evening we went together with the staff to the local bar for an open mic night. I cannot wait to return to this magical place. Thank you Adventure Inn for a 5 star experience!

I had an amazing time at Adventure Inn Marahau! The staff were so helpful and friendly, always ready for a chat. The facilities are well taken care of, the kitchen and bathrooms and showers are always kept clean and there is even a movie theater for those who want to lay back and watch Lord of The Rings after a beautiful hike in the wonderland that is Abel Tasman. There is an outside fireplace, a garden and lawn for laying back and reading a book and nice common areas, where you can meet like-minded travellers. The hostel is a short walk from the beginning of the hikingtrails of Abel Tasman, ideal for hiking- and naturelovers.

By far my favourite hostel I’ve stayed in throughout my time in New Zealand. Meg on the front desk was so welcoming and toured us round the many facilities the hostel offers to start. It had everything from a well stocked clean kitchen, good pressure showers to the best entertainment with pool tables and even a cinema. The fires in the evening are also a great touch, cannot recommend this highly enough!

one of my favorite hostels i've ever stayed in! the staff was so amazing and helped me organize water taxis and figure out tide times to go on the coastal track everyday! the owner even helped me last minute find transportation to get back to nelson! the facilities were nice and the place was clean! there were so many outdoor common spaces that made it a perfect place to come back to after a long day of hiking! the rooms were so unique made with shipping containers but had good privacy between beds! i would absolutely stay here again!

This place is truly a gem. When you arrive to the property you're greeted by the friendly owners and the adorable dog. The atmosphere is extremely laid back but also fun-filled as there are pool tables, foosball, a dart board, and a homemade cinema. It's easy to see how much time and energy has been put into making this place as amazing as it is now. The facilities are spotless, and the property is secluded but also in the best location for access to the beach and abel tasman. We are sad to hear that the season is coming to an end but we hope to return in the future, and in the meantime we will recommend this to anyone who is coming through to Marahau. Thank you Greg, Meg, and the woofers for all of your hospitality. Love, Tyler, Anna, Joe, Alice and Max
