Friendly staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Thermal pools within the complex was and bonus. Left behind a kids favourite toy which was found and returned. Especially happy with the environmentally consideration in regards to recycling and single use items.
What a truly great place to stay, plenty of room, and the choice of four different thermal pools. Clean and comfy though its a work in process, this is not a flashy corporate place more a comfy peaceful getaway, it feels like a wee slice of paradise. Easy walk to feed trout just down the road. Cute village with heaps of history. Close to ski fields and great walks. Turangi is five minutes drive up the road and has fantastic places to eat. Will definitely stay here again. The owner operators were really accommodating.
After a great afternoon of whitewater rafting in Turangi, this was a nice place to stay the night. The rooms were large with upstairs having 3 single beds. There were plenty of very good cooking facilities. Although aged, the rooms were clean and well looked after. The only thing we found annoying was the road noise as cars speed past the motel on the main road and there is no sound proofing. However it got quieter later in the evening. The motel has a trampoline and 4 hot pools to choose from. It is also down the road from the Tokaanu Hot Pools.
A group of us stayed recently at Tokaanu Lodge Motel... Hosts Sheryl and Kelly were welcoming and had great knowledge of the area. Accommodation was comfortable clean and tidy. The onsite hot pools are a great way to unwind and have a soak. Thanks for a great stay will definitely be back...
We booked the place out and had a while lot of friends with families come and stay. It was fantastic. Owner is really friendly and helpful. The pools were lovely. The cabins suited us nicely. Such a nice spot with a lovely local community. Highly recommend
Stayed here with my two kids, and my sister in law with her two kids. Had a 2brm chalet. Clean, tidy, roomy and toasty warm! Kids loved the pool. But I have to stay one of the best things about this place (besides great location) is the hosts. They looked after us the entire time, gave great advice, and support when our car broke down. Thank you so much, we will be back!
This motel is in an excellent location. The new owner of about the last year is outstanding – nothing too much trouble. She seems to have made recent improvements. We particularly noticed new kitchenware, excellent sheets and new pillows. The cabins are reasonably basic although comfortable. The private thermal pools are great fun. Laundry on site and lots of clotheslines. Nice and quiet. Overall a very happy visit.
Tokaanu Lodge consistently meets our expectations and requirements. We use it on our trips south because of its convenient location and its lovely environment. The whole complex is set in nice, well maintained grounds. The units can be a bit dated but they too are well maintained and nicely furnished. The owners are spot on with a really nice, friendly approach. Pet friendly too.
We stayed at Tokaanu Lodge Motel for one night prior to going to Whakapapa. It was a fantastic family unit with a comfortable ‘homey’ feel. Very clean & excellent thermal pools. Also a good price. We’ll definitely stay here again.
This was our second time staying at Tokaanu Lodge Motel, and we returned because of the motel's hot pools and the spacious units which make for a comfortable stay with our family of 5 (including 2 teenagers). The family units at this motel have enough room for everyone to have their own space if needed, which is unusual for motels. The decor is somewhat tired and dated, but the units are clean and comfortable, with everything that you would expect in a traditional Kiwi motel. The new owners are friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated the changes that they are making to be more environmentally-friendly, including recycling and composting and they also advertise that you can charge your electric car there (although we didn't use this). We have been to Tokaanu many times, and find it a great base for a holiday, being central to lots of activities and with the advantage of the local thermal springs. At this motel there are 4 pool options (2 private mineral pools, one private chlorine-treated pool, and a slightly larger shared/public pool), which mean that you get a pool to yourself and usually get your first choice of pool! We enjoyed our stay, and will be back again.…
