Had a great 3 night stay here on week days at one of the bamboo bungalows. The owner and staff were super friendly and helpful. The room is beautifully designed with bamboo and natural materials, a big tub right on doorstep to indulge yourself into fresh cool water on a sunny day and chill. It’s super clean I never saw a roach anywhere. No plastic or single use products, all things are in a sustainable system. Other great great things: swimming pool, a bar with furbrew beer and sapa apricot wine and big menu of food, playground for children, chill corners by the trees.
It’ll take some time on bumpy dirt road to reach here but trust me, it’s worth the try! Note: They do have bike rentals but only automatic ones. There are not many signs on the way there but google map is good enough. Stay during weekdays, it’ll be more quiet and cheaper :)

This is the magical Vietnamese retreat you’re looking for after the hustle and bustle of Hanoi or HCMC. Family owned compound with several different style private huts, each unique and made with love. Hear roosters, goats, and cooing children as the family lives behind the restaurant which serves the best hot pot we had in Vietnam. The vegetables are picked from the garden right there, you literally see them picking it fresh for you to prepare your meal. The landscape is simply divine, tucked between huge limestones, surrounded by rice fields, in a rustic but well-off neighborhood where you can see beautiful Vietnamese style houses that are rather large. Best to rent one of their scooters to explore the area. Tam Coc is 20mins drive away which was great for us to be away from tourists. Absolutely would recommend staying in Trang An over Tam Coc if you have taste.

We could not have wished for a more spectacular setting. For location, this spot gets 10/10! Far away from the hustle and bustle of the built up areas. Come prepared with good quality ear plugs and mosquito repellent...the blessing of this unique setting can also be a bit of a curse... insects had free range of our bungalow via our outside toilet, and it's very difficult to drown out the surrounding echos of fellow guests talking till 4 am, followed by the resident roosters crowing, dogs barking and neighbours Sunday morning music starting up.
Kim was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us with an action plan to tackle the area.
The available motorbikes for rent were an absolute must in order to get around to all the sites. The onsite restaurant meals were pricy compared to our previous experiences around Vietnam. Ninh binh itself is a tourist trap when it comes to prices, however if you look hard enough you will find excellent authentic food at prices similar to other centers. A must visit but come prepared.

We are actually still in Trang An Lamia. I've travelled a lot and think this is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed, the location is breath taking and the accommodation is so comfortable. The staff here couldn't do more to help you out and we are feeling very lucky to have gotten to come here! We even like it more than our Halong Bay cruise!!

Some tips though, you will need to get comfortable with driving a moped - you are in a rural area. Bring some earplugs too if you don't like the sound of nature when sleeping- we don't mind it.

If you're considering coming to Ninh Binh, you MUST stay here! Also the food is delicious - also Boo Boo the poodle is the cutiest host ever

A little slice of heaven on earth. Kim, Chun and their families go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable and easy as possible. They give you tips on where to visit in the local area, will include you in their day to day activities if you want (veggie picking, very interesting to learn about local veggies!) and organise scooters for you if needed. The bungalows are pristine and unique with comfortable beds. The in house food is also amazing, the breakfast banh mi and the group hotpot were personal favourites. Couldn't recommend this place any more! The highlight of our trip to Vietnam.

I would like to thank from my heart to the group. So happy to be part of your journey. We still don't really have much experience in the accommodation industry, we understand that should try to do everything from the heart. I hope you feel it through the way we serve every day. Always welcome you. All the best from Trang An Lamia.

What a great place to stay! Firstly we changed our hotel last minute at 10:00am. We arrived here to be complimented with a beautiful warm tea and breakfast! Was amazing in such a cold weather. The service was incredible, the views were amazing. We didn’t use the pool due to weather conditions; but it would be perfect in summer. we stayed in the delux bungalow and the bedroom was great size, very warm and the bathroom is a great feature.

They offer free bicycle hire, or you can pay to hire a scooter. Which they’re very flexible with.

Dinner service was delicious and very quick. They had the fire place going to keep us warm on the cold night as we ate in the outside patio dining area. The massage service was so relaxing and flexible to do it in the comfort of our warm room.

They were even able to hire us transport to the next city for a very good price.

Location is quite outside Ninh Binh, and on dirt road. But totally worth it.

Do yourself a favour and book this!

We loved our stay here in Lamia Bungalow residence. The rooms are small yet very comfortable, all unique and close to nature. You’ll get a warm welcome by Kim and his family including the two dogs! He’ll give you all the advice you need for the local sightseeings. You can rent motorcycles quite cheap directly from the residence to discover the nearby town. The restaurant is great with a wide offer of local Vietnamese food. Strongly recommend this unique spot!

Really shocked looking back on previous reviews that this was even the same place.

If you are in search of a bit of tranquility then you do not want to book this place. From things that were beyond their control (neighbourhood dogs barking all night, cockerel starting up at 4am each morning) to the constant noise in the place itself (it's tiny so you hear everything) Whether it's the lady running it who has her own Vietnamese pop songs blaring from about 9.40am, which she loudly sings along to all morning, or the workers conversing loudly all day, or deliveries being dragged along the cobbled stones outside your room, the noise doesn't stop.

People remarking that the food was wonderful must not have eaten elsewhere. The food was average at best (and overpriced) as were the "cocktails'. The couple running it seem to work all day and night, so the bar/restaurant is often not staffed as they are out the back and if you order a drink you can expect to wait up to 15 minutes to get it. Not their fault, they just need to hire additional staff.

It's a real shame as this could be an absolute gem with a few tweaks and a tranquil little paradise. I assume most people booking this are in search of that or they would be staying in the town. I ended up checking out a day early to go and find some peace and a decent night's sleep. It's a 15 minute drive to anything so you need to hire a motorbike or constantly spend on their taxi (Grab won't come to the property)

A couple of pluses for some balance - the bedding and bed was clean, nice and comfortable and the air con in the room is quiet (The only thing that is!)

If you get the most expensive room it comes with it's own little plunge pool. They also have a couple of cute dogs that come sit on your balcony with you.

If you come with low expectations you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here for a few nights on our travels through Vietnam. Kim and the team were beyond attentive and made themselves accessible to us at all times. The food here was brilliant and breakfast had a wide variety of choice, we were even invited to share a traditional Vietnamese hotpot with the other guests. It was lovely to experience Ninh Binh in its natural form, even meeting frogs and lizards around the site! Would definitely recommend to travellers looking for beautiful views and kind people!

Trang An Lamia is beautiful, quiet & peaceful. We stayed here for 3 nights while exploring Ninh Binh and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners -Kim & his family are lovely people. He helped us to organise a limousine service for our group from Noi Bai airport to his home & back.

Our bungalows are spacious and very well designed by the owners. Lamia is surrounded by nature, mountains, trees & butterflies. If you like climbing, you can do it in the early morning or late afternoon for an amazing view. You could even see mountain goats climbing on the rocks if you are lucky. Lamia is about 15’ motorbike ride to popular spots for tourists - Trang An grottoes or Mua caves. If you want to stay away from busy hotels, Trang An Lamia is well worth a try. It is a serene place for us.

I should also mention that Kim’s brother is a master chef. If you want to try local food & nice vegies from their garden, don’t hesitate to ask him to cook something off the menu. He puts a lot of effort in preparing hot and healthy dinners for us.

Thank you Kim & your family for your fantastic hospitality. We will be back one day.

Thank you for all the good feelings for Lamia. The beauty of this place is for those who love nature, like the quiet. Fortunately, it works like a family here and always wants every guest to stay here to feel right at home, from the attention to conversation, from the hot meals. Thank you and always welcome back All the best from Trang An Lamia.
