Tahi lodge has 2 units and we stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom unit. The owner was really welcoming, showed us round and gave us some good tips regarding local trips, beaches etc. There was a wonderful deck with full size table and stunning sea views from our raised position. The unit was very spacious, really well furnished and had most things you would need, particularly if you were going to self cater as we did. Good breakfast bar, dishwasher. One of the best things was the breakfast provision, a stunning bowl of fruit, yoghurts, bread, butter, jams, tea, coffee, Nespresso if you wanted to use. Excellent Wi-fi.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay here. You will need a car for beaches etc

We stayed in the apartment which is well appointed and exceptionally quiet with a full kitchen including a large fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and so many other items that made staying hassle-free. We were treated to homemade cake, a big bowl of fresh fruit, chilled orange juice and a 1ltr of lite milk rather than those usual little boxes. I am not a fan of the dome on the top of the shower but it did not detract from how much we enjoyed the stay overall. I would have liked the bed to be a bit softer but some like it hard and I know I am a bit like the Princess and the pea, hard to please. It was very clean and smelt fresh and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a few days away.

We stayed in the suite - a spacious and very comfortable room. The lodge is well situated for visiting the Matakana area which we enjoyed, all too briefly. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful, and our late check-out request was nicely dealt with, and worked out well. Breakfast supplies were plentiful and delicious and the local fish & chips takeaway was excellent. (But it might be helpful to state on the room description that it has no cooking facilities - we had to deduce that in advance from the photos!)

The owners were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. We had the 2 bed lodge and it was very clean and well equipped. Cupboards were laid out with millimetric precision and there was nothing you could want for. Breakfast food was provided and there was a huge choice and a delightfully full fruit bowl.

HOWEVER.

From the photographs we envisaged ourselves sitting on the deck having a glass of wine and enjoying the view. This wasn’t possible because as soon as you sat down all you could see was the hedge. The photographs that had been taken from our unit had all been taken from a standing position. The 2 rental units are located beneath the deck of the main house
We had paid a premium price for a view that could only be seen standing up.
Very disappointing.

We stayed in Kawau apartment for 4 nights. The unit was comfortable and well equipped, including cooking facilities. Lovely sea view! The property was in a good location for exploring the Matakana coast area. Generous breakfast provisions are provided and special dietary needs are catered for. Lauren was very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Stayed one night en route from the Bay of Islands before moving on south. We stayed in the two bed apartment. Lauren was a most welcoming host, excellent pre arrival information, and gave us a detailed outline of things to do and see locally. The apartment was very well equipped, the breakfast provisions very welcome, and a peaceful night had by both of us. Many thanks.

We stayed at the lovely Tahi lodge for 3 nights. Well designed rooms with everything you could need, comfy bed with quality linen. Beautiful homemade breakfasts every morning looking over the bay.

About 15 mins walk into town. I wouldn't recommend the fish and chips there but lauren recommended seafood and eat it in workworth which we ate by the river and was delicious.

About 10 mins down to beach which is beautiful when tide is in in afternoon but morning wasn't great.

Only criticism I have is the lack of privacy. Lauren was lovely but seemed to be in our room every time we popped out even for 5 mins and people walking past out patio and windows constantly, also we were in the one bedroom apartment and could hear them upstairs the whole time walking around, talking, phones ringing etc so just lacked privacy a bit.
