I've taken a while to write this as I placed a complaint with our holiday company and wanted to be sure of the facts before posting. I stayed at the hotel in August with my husband, mother and father in law and teen daughter. Positives: - The views are lovely - Good routes for morning runs by the coast - Some of the staff really go out of their way to interact and make the holiday as pleasant as possible - aqua aerobics was good - the food was as expected for a 3 star hotel Areas for improvement: - we arrived in the early hours of the morning and told our room was in the last building - after walking up and down numerous times (with luggage) we found out it was in the second to last building - very frustrating when it's dark and you don't know where you are going - the cleanliness of the rooms is not great- we changed our own bed sheets and our bath mat wasn't changed for at least 10 nights as a member of our party cut their foot and the blood remained on the bath mat until the end of the holiday - our air conditioning unit malfunctioned 3 times - the first time, someone came up and fixed it straight away. The other times, we had to wait until the next morning as no maintenance staff were on site - there was water running into the electrics and mold growing as a result. In our complaint, we've been told that staff are on site until 11pm so we must've reported it after this, but we reported it on our way to dinner (before 11pm). We were also told the air con isn't supposed to be set to 20 degrees as this is too cold! Not ideal when the temperatures are high 30s. - we were all inclusive and seemed to be treated differently to other guests. At meal times, the waiters take your drinks orders. We regularly ate our meals with no drinks, or drinks at the end, because waiters seemed to go to non-all inclusive tables first. When we questioned this, we were told it's high season and they are busy. I understand this, but it's quite important to have a drink with a meal All in all, I would say it's more 2 star than 3 star. I think it has the potential, but service and facilities need upgrading in order to achieve this.

Response from Cynthiana Beach, General Manager at Cynthiana Beach Hotel
Responded 29 Dec 2023
Dear guests of the Cynthiana Beach Hotel, thank you for your review however your delayed review is making me think that the only reason is to somehow punish the hotel. I was aware of all your issues since after you wrote to your travel company they notified me for my answers. Obviously, you were not reimbursed of any money since they did not found any grounds for it. In any case your points are well taken but let me say that we are a proud three star hotel and we try to be four star, with some changes we will. - The hotel has more than one building and guests some times need to walk to their room. We have a porter till eleven at night and late arrival take their own cases up. -It is impossible that your bath mat was not changed for your entire stay. -Air conditioning works properly, however at times problems may arise, and all times problems are solved. 20 degrees at night in a room is more than sufficient. -All guests are treated the same way and it doesn't matter if they are all inclusive or not. Since we are good 3 star hotel, we serve drinks to all guests and this is the way to be. If we are a 3 star hotel or not, our guests confirm it through their positive reviews. Happy travelings. Andreas Ioannou General Manager

This is one of the most natural resorts we have ever been to, nothing looked ugly or out of place. The sea view from our window was amazing and really if the rest of the hotel wasn't so nice we would have spent a lot more time on our balcony. Evening entertainment was there for all who wanted it but it was not intrusive for other guests. Trips were available but there is a bus at the end of the road for exploring the area and beyond. The food was lovely and the salads were plentiful and varied, the hot food was in need of lidded dishes to keep it warmer over time, but delicious. Our room was spotless and comfortable with linnens and towels changed regurlarly. The staff were wonderful and friendly with each other as well as customers, all knew their jobs and seemed to enjoy working there. Everything ticked over smoothly making it a very well run and relaxing hotel. Thank you Andreas and all the staff for a lovely stay we so needed the break. We have booked for next year so looking forward to seeing you all again. John and Carol (Triumph T)

I have not long returned from a 5 night all inclusive holiday with my sister. We had read alot of reviews before our visit - some good, some negative. So, we went with an open mind. We absolutely loved it! On arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming and urged us to quickly have lunch as it was nearly 2.30 - we were very grateful as Hungary after traveling. We were shown to our room, a family room with fantastic sea view, it was perfect for us. Andreas the manager introduced himself during our first lunch, very pleasant, smartly dressed and an all round friendly person. We spoke every day briefly and he went the extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable. The restaurant and bar staff were all so friendly, smart and polite. The food was delicious and plentiful. The weather was gorgeous and warm. Plenty of sunbeds. Amazing sunsets. We do feel it deserves a 4 star and we would visit again. Many thanks Andreas and team. Enjoy your break.

Just got back from this wonderful hotel after a week of sun and great food. Such a chilled out place with lovely staff. From the lovely porter Demetris to Neo the beach barman to all the polite waiting staff. Could not fault the food, plenty of it without lots of waste. Local wine and beer not bad and cocktails OK. The location is absolutely stunning and chilled and plenty of sunbeds and choice of the lovely garden, the beach area and the great sea pool. Not a huge amount around in the evenings but can easily get a cheap bus into Paphos. Evening entertainment not great but it was their last week open. Had a laugh anyway! Miss it already and would definitely recommend this hotel for a great chilled vibe.

Excellent position, fantastic views, can walk along a newly built path by the sea to Paphos & Coral Bay, 10 mins walk to bus & supermarket Food - poor, breakfast same everyday, omelettes cooked in oven in large pan then cut into small pieces. Desserts same every day, all made with milk except jelly, bananas, oranges, apples at meals no other fruit. No meats or cheese at lunchtime so you couldn’t have a roll or salad as a light lunch. Cake in the morning was stale, bread was either really fresh or stale. If you were ‘All inclusive’, there were no snacks throughout the day Entertainment - poor, best act was ‘Greek Night’. Beach towels - non, only if you are in superior rooms Fridge & kettle - only if you pay for it, €5 day for fridge, only get fridge & kettle if you are in superior rooms Cleanliness - could do better, one part of hotel the carpets were disgusting Condition of buildings - needs works Staff - work long hours but always have a smile. one waiter was serving in the beach bar during the day, then in the bar serving drinks till late into the evening. This hotel could be fantastic, in a quiet area short walk to shops, buses. The beach is excellent for children, small lagoon for them to swim in, pool small but big enough for parents to keep on eye on them. Needs serious upgrading, still in the 70s.

Dear guests, obviously you have found nothing positive to say about hotel. There are lots information, that you misrepresent. Firstly let me say that our staff NEVER work more that 8 hours a day and 5 days a week. We try and offer fresh ingredients, we never tried to be seven star hotel but we do offer for sure value for money holidays. Obviously we did not meet your expectations and we are sorry for that. Wishing you happy travelings. Andreas Ioannou General Manger

Well. After a lousy English Summer, we were thinking about having some sunshine. Been to this place once before, just after Covid, and liked it! Yes not as grand as other large hotels, but functions as a destination where they get most things RIGHT Check in, was simply a formality. Appreciated assistance from the Butler with heavy luggage to the Olympic Wings Have read the comments about lacking facilities in your room, but a sea view, comfy bed, bath, and AC were thrown in. Of course if you are looking to find imperfections, from staff doing their best under pressure, then you will have to be pretty miserable! Breakfast, was a delight, sat out on the Sky Balcony. All the usual English and Continental version, and unless your expectations are unreasonable, then you will be happy enough! Supa efficiency from the mostly Cypriot staff, who made me fell like evening meals was a bit of a Baquant . Beach furniture, was well maintained, and supervised by maintaining staff Had some drinks in the bar, and a lively Cypriot night with some people from the villages dancing and singing with us. We would like to convey our gratitude to all who attended to our hospitality. Yammos

Firstly the hotel says it’s a 3 star when it comes to paying extra for the safe, fridge and kettle however they like to promote the 4star sign for the hotel at reception you can’t be both? Cleaning of the rooms was very basic ( floors very dirty) cleaning around pool bar was very bad dirty plates left from teatime until the next morning. We only had breakfast which the choice was ok except for the very poor choice of fruit however the hot food was just warm and we went early for breakfast. Most of the staff just don’t speak to customers the only ones that bother are the night porter, and evening bar staff and the young lady that does swim fit. The hotel had good views and in a quiet area.

Dear guests of the Cynthiana Beach Hotel, thank you for finding the time and reviewed us on trip advisor. Firstly I would clarify one thing. The hotel is officially three star hotel and never advertises as 4 star. There is no sign when entering to promote is as 4 star. What you saw and did not understand is the 4.5 stars we get from our customers that rate us displayed on trip advisor. In regards to some extra charges the hotel is clear, we do provide extra facilities for a small charge. we do not hide anything from the guests. Obviously you stayed with breakfast only and were out of the hotel all day, that is the reason we did not speak much with you. Our hotel has friendly staff and we do speak to all guests as much as we can. I hope you return back to show you our genuine hospitality and talk as much as possible. Best regards Andreas Ioannou General Manager

I booked this hotel for my husband's 60th birthday primarily for its locality to the beach which was excellent for snorkeling (and swimming) in which my husband loves and on that it definitely delivered. We had a garden room on a B&B basis, which was the furthest away from the main hotel lobby and overlooked a couple of houses and some scrubland! To the right you could see the sea which was lovely. The room was basic but clean but unfortunately everything seemed to be an add on, having to pay a daily charge for a kettle if you wanted one(I did) and never had this before, a daily charge for a fridge!! which we balked at and so didn't bother, instead we paid for a key to the safe, which was another surprise as now days they are usually key code entry. Apart from the older gentleman that greeted us upon arrival late at night whom was friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff including reception and restaurant were almost non communicative. We have never experienced this before and after emailing prior to our arrival and asking the gentleman on arrival about the fruit and wine for my husband as a surprise when I enquired on the actual day, the receptionist in what can only be described as a bored voice, told me she was aware of this, needless to say it never materialised. The breakfast was ok-ish, shame no fresh fruit other than bananas and slices of grapefruit. Bit fed up with tinned peaches by the end of the week, especially when lovely local fruits are readily available. We made the most of our week however, my husband also had a diving lesson which was held at the same stretch of beach. He would definitely recommend Marine Divers up the road from the hotel. We would both suggest you go to hire a car from the lovely local man Andreas again up the road (next to the smaller supermarket), full of knowledge, helpful tips and plenty of stories. A true gem! Also visit Tombs of the Kings for 2.50 euros Omodos in the mountains and eat at Poppadum and one of the harbour restaurants in Latsi. We also spent a day lounging on Coral Bay, lovely but get there early even in early November.

Dear guests of the Cynthiana Beach Hotel, thank you for choosing to spend your recent holiday with us. Happy to see your feedback about our hotel, I will look into all points mentioned and will act upon them. Really sorry if the fruits were not delivered on time in your room. In regards to other facilities not offered, sorry to say but this is what differentiated a four and five star hotel from us. We do know how to offer everything in rooms but we need to compare our hotel in pricing with other establishments that you have probably stayed. Hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again.
