Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed the night here and I absolutely loved it! The campsite seemed like it was waaay out in the mountains but really it wasn’t! Only Five mins from the town and half an hour from Thames!

It’s quiet and peaceful. You can hear the water rush from the creek which was nice- you could also swim in it too! There was a pizza oven, kitchen facilities, toilets and showers available for use. I must say that the shower would turn cold after a bit but that’s alright! All in all, everything is in pretty good condition!

I didn’t have any communication with the owner but there was an honesty box with an envelope to put your money in.
Powered Site: Adult $15 PN/PP
Non-Powered: Adult $10 PN/PP
I paid for powered site but it didn’t work for me. I guess that just ties into seeing the owner and how late it was (around 5pm). Maybe there was a certain time to check in if you wanted power..? I’m not too sure but overall, I had a pleasant stay and I would happily come here again!

The best spot ever... the grounds are well maintained and lots of gorgeous detail around. The creek was awesome to splash around with our pups to cool down. Spacious sites, immaculate bathrooms. Will definitely book there again pretty soon. And yes just a short walk down the driveway you can purchase fresh produce from the vege stall.. very well priced 😃

This small camping ground has powered and non-powered sites. There is a barbecue place, a pizza oven and a kitchen with a stove. It is located next to a river, where you can swim in. Toilet and shower were clean. Non powered site was 12$ per person.

Stayed here prior to new years, booked a powered site but upon arrival had discovered they had over booked & hadn't scheduled us in even though we had paid upon booking.
We were told we could stay one night in an unpowered site and then they would sort something for us the next day.
Next day arrives and even though there were powered sites available, they had already been allocated to other groups who hadn't arrived. Our alternative was to camp in the centre amongst the communal area and have an extension cord running from one of the permanent sites over the main drive through to our camp in the unpowered section.
Since the camp was heavily crowded and our priority was low even though we had booked in advance, paid & were physically present whilst there were empty powered sections we decided to go elsewhere.
Before we made the decision to leave, I personally spoke with Debbie & asked if a refund would be possible. Although she was surprised by the request, she verbally agreed & advised she understood our circumstance. I advised I would send her my account for the refund.
It has now been over a month and after numerous attempts to contact Debbie requesting the refund for the remainder of our trip I have heard nothing.
Hence the detailed experience and the poor review.

Massive thank you to Rachel and her team, we had an absolute blast on our extended family camping trip. Facilities were clean and most of all we were made to feel welcomed. We will definitely be back as the kids didn't want to leave. Awesome place for families who want to chill and get there kids off devices . We hardly saw the kids only when they were hungry

Small campground with only 20 or so spots and some cabins. Hot shower with great water pressure. Good BBQ and even a pizza oven. Idyllic spot by a river.

Lovely people run it - could not be friendlier.

Dog friendly which was great.

I think the other two reviewers have got the place they stayed mixed up with the Tapu Motor Camp. We all stayed at Tapu Creek Campervan Park. The address is 285 Tapu-Coroglen Rd, which is 2.5km off the Thames Coast Rd. STAY HERE! It is in a beautiful quiet setting by a little stream, there are ducks, the shower cubicles are spotless and the BBQ/cooking facilities outside under a wooden roof are the best we have come across - even with spices you can use. Rachel, our host was lovely, she let us lie in and chill out because we'd been travelling for 2 days solid on the plane, she was so nice to us considering a lot of places turf you out at 10am on the dot. It is a beautiful little campsite and if you pick it and you like the outdoors, you will be really happy. Do NOT confuse this place with Tapu Motor Camp which is on the main road!

Reluctant to say, its too nice to share, we were there off season, it was so quiet and peaceful, left alone to soak it up ! The facilities were great, lots of character, rustic, family friendly, and obviously a lot of love and attention has gone into this place...

We are so glad we stayed at this pretty little campsite. A friendly welcome and the only sounds were the stream and the birds. This must be one of the loveliest sites in NZ. More camps should follow this model.

This is the place to go for true relaxation... I can't wait to go back nxt holidays!! Beautiful spot, wonderful, helpful friendly hosts.... The sound of the River at bedtime was like torrential rain outside and I havnt slept so well in ages!! The kids had a great time swimming in the river, playing at the beach or using their imagination in the wonderful wilderness... The Pizza Oven never fails to cook a yummy meal...
