Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located just off the beaten track is Ruparau Water Gardens. We stopped in for the walk round. And it was just stunning! This garden has been sculpted and integrated within the natural landscape and you can just see and feel all the hard work and love that's gone into making and maintaining these grounds. It is worth the small trek up to the 7 stairs to heaven falls where you can take a dip and quietly contemplate.

Lovely garden to wander round then a longer walk to a beautiful 7 tier waterfall well worth the effort . THEN have a meal at the cafe . The food is beautiful tasty and surprising. we both enjoyed our meal and it finished off the morning beautifully. The hazelnut chocolate cake /gateau was to die for

Really enjoyed the stay here. Sally and Sascha are great people. The gardens are stunning and a nice hike to the waterfall. Great way to start the day. The cottage was very comfortable and spacious with gas bbq and fully fitted kitchen. Bread, eggs and milk were provided in the cottage. The coffee and cakes in the coffee shop were really good. Should have stayed a day or two longer.

Had a lovely couple of nights there in the self contained cottage. Was very spacious, with everything you could need: bbq, kitchen, bath and shower, and a sitting room with a great selection of board games. Gardens were very pretty and peaceful, and the waterfall was great for a dip. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Couldn't recommend this enough.

Rampura Water Gardens' accommodation is set amidst the most beautiful and tranquil gardens with two distinctly different walks, one around formal landscaped gardens with ponds galore and the other through a less formal area to a waterfall. The accommodation chalets are roomy with separate bedroom, sitting, dining and kitchen areas. All are fully equipped. But be prepared and come with food as there are no restaurants anywhere near. It also has no phone signal and no wifi connection except in the cafe/reception area and no television. It's all about peace and tranquility and getting away from it all.

We spent about an hour walking around the gardens here. The gardens were very nicely maintained and had a nice variety of flowers and native bush to look at. The lily ponds in particular were very scenic. I can see why many people do weddings here. It's worth a visit for anyone looking for something to do in the afternoon for a nice relaxing stroll. The waterfall was also nice with the various pools the cascaded down. I didn't think it was unreasonably priced and thought it was a much prettier walk many of the "free" trails that we have done in other locations.

My wife and I stayed here early January and fell in love with the tranquillity of the gardens. They are spectacular and well cared for. The most amazing highlight for us was that after 5pm the gardens were closed to the public and we had the whole place to ourselves. Stunning waterfalls, serene water Lilly pond, and glow worms to explore for in the dark! The accommodation is clean and tastefully decorated. The owners are extremely accommodating and clearly maintain and nurture the gardens with love.oh ,,and they make a fine espresso too!

The bush walk up to the water fall was an incredible nature buzz, after the gorgeous pink, cerese and white water lilies. But the very best part of all, was the stunning water fall, a special treat at the top of the 15 minute bush walk. I just wanted to stay there forever and take in the magic and spirituality of this amazing place.

And yes, there are no water lilies in Sept but they missed the real treat that made the beauty of the water lilies pale in comparison. 7 steps to heaven.

We stayed here for three nights in early November....early spring and still a bit chilly. This is a great place to decompress after travelling to New Zealand on a long haul flight. There is no TV or internet.
Sally and her son Sasha were most welcoming and provided a lovely breakfast including fresh eggs. The gardens were well kept and peaceful and you can wander around out of hours if you wish. You can even go bathing in the waterfalls if you wish.
We should have taken advantage of Sasha's offer to cook up a meal or two or should have had something in the café during the daytime.
The accommodation is clean and spacious and we would be happy to return to this little haven.

We visited in October last year and then took our elderly parents in July this year. The Coromandel Coast was a spectacular drive and once inland towards Rapaura Water Gardens the dramatic landscape and mountain road was a lovely driving adventure.
The history of the property is fascinating, the water gardens are just beautiful and our hostess charming and helpful without being obtrusive even booking tickets on the Driving Creek Railway for us. Because it was winter, the water lillies had died down for the season, but the lush green gardens did not disappoint. From here we easily drove to one of the giant Kauris, had a wonderful day trip to Driving Railway and spent a cosy night in the rustic cottage. There was ample firewood to keep any chill out of the air and adequate breakfast supplies including fresh eggs from the chooks.
