Ideally situated as a base from which to explore the Coromandel, we offer comfortable self-catering accommodation in a boutique lodge or garden cottage. While the estate is open to the public during the hours of 9-5, in the evening it becomes your private playground. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The gardens are lovely, but the Lodge is just stunning!
We were a bit disappointed at learning the only internet available was at the reception/ restaurant area during office hours, but we survived!
It was lovely to just soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some downtime
We even lit a fire - everything you could want is provided for, in gorgeous style

Well worth the stop, Gardens featuring many water features with an impressive waterfall at the end of a nice walking track. Relaxing and easy. Good value for the entry fee. Carpark a bit tight in a motorhome.

From the moment we drove up to the Water Garden's, we were greeted with a warm welcome by Sally the owner. This gorgeous facility and tranquil grounds is a true retreat from the hustle bustle of the world. The water features, to the care given to the gardens, truly leave you awestruck~not too mention the friendly hospitality. Our second time visiting, this time we booked the cottage and found it delightful and cosy. We would place this on the map of NZ as a top 10, highly recommend.

The owners Sally and Sasha work hard to make their guests feel comfortable and provide everything you need: breakfast (self catered), excellent lunch at the Koru Café on site, and information about what to do and visit on the Coromandel Peninsula. The wood furnished 70ies house, decorated with a special mix of pieces of art, is luxurious and spacious with a unique view into the garden from every one of the large windows and balconies. The large cottage behind it is an additional accommodation for 2 people. A beautiful, enchanted garden filled with lilly ponds, artistic sculptures, and plenty of exotic and domestic plants surrounds the café and houses. We had light to heavy rain throughout our 3 day stay, but the garden looked even more beautiful this way and could be easily walked anyway. No cell phone reception or wifi, but this only means a true chance for real relaxation and meditation.
A place to come back to and spend more time to relax and enjoy!

Very amazing and quite place. Enjoyed the nature and water fall very much. In the end we went to the small restaurant for Lunch. Food was very good. Staff was very nice and helped us for further activities within this area.

Garden costs 15 NZD per adult entrance.

Words cannot describe this amazing destination! Sally and Sasha and their vision are just amazing and there are no words to describe their hospitality! Everything about our stay here was just perfect. Waking up in a beautiful tree house was just magical! We were so fortunate to stay here. However, if you can't at least take their walk and have lunch! You won't be sorry!

To describe Rapaura water gardens in words is almost futile… It is much more a feast for the senses than anything else. And what a feast it is. In every direction you turn, there is a new gift to explore. A new treasure to unearth. A new corner of your imagination to discover.

The beauty and peace of the gardens have become a touchstone that we keep returning to, not only in physical form, but also in our imaginations, every time we need a bit of the peace that is so prevalent in that gorgeous place.

The hosts that run the gardens are exceptional in their own way… If you have an opportunity to engage them in conversation or even just take in one of their culinary delights, do not miss that opportunity.

A journey to the gardens, whether for an afternoon or an entire week, will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and know that you have made a choice that will continue to resound in your bodies and minds during the months and years to come.

We can recommend this place with our most graceful exuberance!

We visited Rapaura water gardens today. We drove down from Coromandel town via Tapu. The garden was very peaceful and tranquil. It is beautifully landscaped in natural surrounding. The highlight was the water cascade.
We then made the mistake of driving on to Coroglen on route to Pauanui. The road was not surfaced and in bad weather is unsafe. It would have been better to return to Tapu and return using SH25

The location was peaceful and in a beautiful garden. The cottage was very well equipped and the owners were really helpful, even baking us a loaf of bread! Very good value for money. If you plan to start or end your visit to New Zealand here then stay at least 2 nights - it's a beautiful place to rest. It's about 90 minutes drive from Aukland airport. We couldn't fault it.
