We could see that this would be a place that the southerners come every year to bring their families. It was a feel good place with good sized camp sites. We had a powered camp site under a lovely shady tree and close to showers/kitchen. Dog friendly and showers are free and no time limit. The food truck was inspired and their fish, chips and coleslaw was delicious. My husband had the jackfruit tacos and enjoyed them too. There was a wedding happening the following day and I could see why people would use this place for a wedding venue. Glorious lake scenery and leafy surrounds.
I enjoyed my stay in this camp, breathtaking view, place is so serene. Im Clean amenities. I will definitely come back for longer stay, I want to stay there for a week. Staff were hospitable and friendly. ❤️
Set among mature trees, on the edge of Lake Hawea, a sheltered cove on one side, the expanse of the river on the other. Camp has a friendly down to earth feel, a proper kiwi camp of yesteryear, a back to nature vibe that the newer camps have lost or never attained
Stayed at The Camp, Lake Hawea for three nights in October 2020. The Camp is beautifully maintained, park setting on the shore of Lake Hawea. The views are incredible, amenities are traditional but very clean. Highly recommend staying here. Great base for exploring Central Otago and only 15-minute drive to Wanaka. Lovely staff with great knowledge of local area and tips for must sees.
The Camp on Lake Hāwea, don't miss it! Unparalleled natural beauty combined with super-nice accommodation in 'glamping' tents was an amazing experience. My mother-in-law, not excited with the prospect of camping in general, was over the moon with the comfort and feeling of the first class, but not overdone, camping accommodation. It was the highlight of her two week stay in the area. A most do. Also noteworthy: really good food at the little food caravan....
