We stayed for one night at Lake Hawea in a Kind Bed Deluxe Studio with lake views after our drive through the Haast Pass. We were pleasantly surprised when checking in and opening the door to find a large room with amazing views of the lake out the floor to ceiling windows, with a nice balcony too. The room was equipped with all you would need, with a large comfortable bed and big modern bathroom. There was a plug-in fragrance unit in the bathroom which I had to remove as the smell was so strong and over-powering, but after taking it out it settled quickly. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and were seated by the window both times. Dinner was excellent, the salmon salad starter we had with our mains was by far the best salad either of us had ever ordered. We found

Stayed in the hostel and the rooms were simple but very clean and functional. The arancini balls from the restaurant were the best we’ve ever had, we also had a pizza and my gf had a curry and it was all very good food. The staff were very attentive and the views from the restaurant are amazing. The building is abit dated but the food and staff more than made up for it.

The room was well positioned for a great view across the lake. The building looks a little tired externally. The walls are quite thin so conversations from adjacent rooms can be annoying. Very comfortable bed.

We had good view from the hotel balcony. Such an amazing view. However, the hotel room was out of my expectation. The carpet hasn't been cleaned for I don't know how long. Dead bugs are on the stairs and since day 1 until the 4th day we checked out, they did not clean it. They made the beds on the first floor but not the 2nd floor on the 2nd day. On the 3rd day, they made up the beds on the 2nd floor but not the 1st floor. Bathroom is old. I noticed some dusts and small pieces of wood from the wall near the sink. Until the 4th day we checked out, they did not clean any of it. They did not throw away the cig butts. I could see dusts everywhere at the bathtub corners. Some bed sheets has stains. The receptionist staff was friendly so I gave her credits for that. However, I would

We stayed in Lake Hawea, and at first we were apprehensive about being outside of Wanaka, however once we got to Lake Hawea we fell in love with the location. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of tourists in Wanaka, and it was an easy 15 minute drive in when we wanted to go there. Our room had a stunning view, and there is a track that goes part way around the lake that you can walk, run or ride on - with constant stunning lake views! The staff at the hotel were also really lovely. I would definitely come back here!
