The Dovey Inn by Marston's Inns enchants guests with its prime beachfront location and stunning sea views, earning high marks for its picturesque setting near local amenities. Patrons appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms, despite some calls for updates. The inn's bar area is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and quality food, though there's occasional noise at night. While the staff receives accolades for their friendliness, opinions on value and service show some inconsistency. Additional praise is given for cleanliness, though the lack of included breakfast and some amenity quality concerns are noted.

This place gets a "very good" mainly due to the service provided by the extremely hardworking staff who couldn't do enough for us. We stayed here for 3 nights and saw just how much effort they put in, going out of their way to be accommodating and welcoming . We ate in the pub two of the evenings and the food was good, the kids menu being extremely good value. The breakfast was amazing and one of the most well presented cooked breakfasts I have ever seen. The main let down was the accommodation. The family room was mostly clean and was spacious with two adjoining twin rooms and an ensuite. The beds were comfortable and there was a large bay window area overlooking the sea front. The decor was in dire need of a makeover, the carpets were marked in places and the bathroom floor had a strange brown covering. There were spotlights missing/broken making the room very dark in the evening. This place is in a great location in a lovely fishing village, the service and staff are excellent, the food is really good, the rooms, however, are definitely in need of some attention which is a shame.

Lovely room with fresh clean crisp bedding and towels. Small window with estuary view. Room quite hot and window didn’t open, however a small desk fan was provided. Lots of plug sockets. Lovely bathroom with free standing bath but was difficult to access as it was on a narrow plinth, no where to put toiletries or towels while bathing. Taps difficult to turn on and off as very stiff. Separate shower with taps also difficult to use. No individual toiletries to use just large bottle of shower gel used by all guests to the room, not very hygienic.
Our stay was two nights and as we were using the room late morning to get ready for a wedding, feel we missed the room being serviced, so we got no fresh towels and bins not emptied. I thought maybe the room being serviced could be later in the day.
Also extremely disappointed at check out to be advised breakfast was not included. I had a small omelette for breakfast as I require gluten free for medical reasons and no gluten free bread or cereal available. If we had been aware breakfast was not included maybe would have gone elsewhere that could have provided gluten free options. However feel this may be the fault of the booking portal rather than the hotel. Above average price for room only for the time of year.

Rooms are very tired, carpet is filthy, good lick of paint and updating required. No glasses in the rooms or USB ports. Upon entering the establishment staff our friendly, but the lack of cleanliness jumps out straight away. The hand sanitiser dispenser on the entrance wall has more on the wall than to dispense! Not a great first impression. Went for a drink in the bar area with lots of families dining, needed to use the toilet, bad mistake. No toilet seat, roll, soap and faulty lock with toilet roll all over the floor and filthy dirty.

One night only booked in the Dovey inn. The standard room looked liked an afterthought: depressing decor ( or : no decor!), 1980’s pine furniture, 2 bedside tables but only one lamp, toilet seat does not stay up, bathroom is tired and needs a good scrub to take the black Mold off, no curtains but just a tired looking cheap blind... and a tiny double bed with bouncy mattress...
on the plus side the breakfast was good and the waitress was very pleasant and attentive!

Pre booked meal for 3 on Tuesday 4 th August for 19.30. We left at 21.45, as it took so long for service of main meals and dessert. Ordered ice cream, waited 35 mins and then spoke to Manager who had originally taken order, it then took another 10mins to arrive, he assured us, there would be no charge as there was such a delay. When paying I queried the bill, as per government gesture, we should have received £10 each off the bill plus the free desserts. The bill was £22.35. With just a drink each, 1 was a child. There was no itemised bill, just card receipt. Was very disappointed with attitude of Manager, plus the fact he seemed incapable of handling situation and was definitely understaffed.

Hi James A, Thank you for your recent review of us and I am sorry that you left very disappointed. After only opening our doors for the first time the day prior to your visit we have all been working extremely hard to ensure that we try and provide the best possible service for our guests in a safe environment. The level of trade this week has been beyond our expectations and I apologise for the wait time you experience and we are striving to improve. The new norm is very new to all of us as well. In terms of the government Eat Out campaign, the offer is 50% off food, up to the value of £10 per person. So if your order something for £10 then you would get it for £5. I hope that makes sense. If you would like an itemised please do not hesitate to contact me on 01654 767332 or alternatively drop me an email I will gladly provide this for you. Kind regards, Marc Eeley General Manager

Have gone to Aberdovey for day trips over the years and always wanted to stay overnight to try out pubs etc. Picked this one as it overlooks the Harbour and is central. No onsite parking so paid £11 for 24 hours on beach car park 5 minutes away up the road.
Rooms are okay but note breakfast is not included, has to be paid for separately.
Downstairs pub is dark and dingy so decided to have Fish and Chips from Walkers just up the road (they were wonderful). Walked around town and popped into the four pubs before bed. Next day 2x breakfasts at £8.75 each were ordered and took 45 minutes to arrive. Food quality was good but was luke warm even though it was cooked to order?
Staff and service okay but standout person was Zak who was most helpful.
With price of room, breakfast and car parking it turned out to be quite expensive for just one night's stay. l

Booked for a couple of nights, had a lovely seaview room with a big comfortable bed.
Breakfast was really excellent, kept me full until early evening meal ( never happens!!!).
Had an evening meal one night, service was fantastic, as were all our interactions with the great staff. Meal was average pub grub, but tasty and good value.
Every where was clean and they had a good Covid policy which the staff enforced really well. We felt very safe.
Room has aircon we did not need, but another essential feature for the summer.
The shower was the best I have used in a UK character property, really set me up well for the day.

Given the price paid and what we received I can only give 5 stars.
Many thanks to all the staff, they made sure we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Finally, the new Bayside lager went down VERY well!
Thanks Marc and staff, if we are this way again we will be back.

Sadly, the barman here who showed us to a table was as miserable as he could be despite our friendly approach to his pub. Our experience was made worse by the very poor sandwiches served…white bread only, a scrapping of butter and fillings that were as sparse as the barman’s good humour. We paid an extra amount for fries which equated to 10p per chip.

The pub’s rear room decor was also bleak, and uninviting. Avoid this pub,
