We had a warm welcome and the proprietor took the time to contact in advance to ask when we intended to arrive and was kind enough to have our room ready for us. The room was large and comfortable (i slept really well every night) and the shower warm and powerful. Everything was lovely and clean too. Breakfast was good quality and really set you up for the day. The dining room was comfortable and the waitress very pleasant. Location is great, just a few mins walk from the station and 5mins from bus stops and the high street of Sandown - which has so much too do around it and is home to some lovely eateries. We couldn't have been more welcome and thank you for having us

We had a lovely stay at the Fernside hotel. Stuart the manager was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, spacious and had a comfortable four poster bed. It is lovely to find such a dog friendly place to stay that is in such a connvinient location being 5 mins walk to Sandown pier and beach. The breakfast options were varied and delicious. We look forward to a return visit and happily recommend.

As soon as I met Stuart I knew it was a good choice of B and B for our 11 night stay in Sandown, friendly and Helpful from the off, The Breakfasts were consistently excellent and Plentiful with Nicola in calm control and professional throughout, the room met all our needs especially the comfy bed, with always enough tea coffee sugar milk and choc bars topped up on a daily basis. A nice touch was the different cups every day as the Island water is alkaline. Extremely friendly Helpful and downright Likeable Bloke who with his hard working wife Angela in the background makes Fernside a place I would recommend highly. A point to mention is that Fernside is pet friendly and has two residential dogs Perfect base for Island exploration by Bus £2 a ticket, free with my Aged Senior bus pass, modern buses, friendly drivers with high skill levels on the local roads really great service, and just down the road 1980s ex London Underground rail service equally affordable and great fun. we hardly used the car! We dined out in several restaurants in Sandown and did not have a single issue consistent good standard throughout, all within easy walking range of Fernside Worth mentioning is im a road cyclist and enjoyed 3 rides out from Fernside, Stuart facilitated my bike superbly.…

Fernside is a brilliant place to stay in, 2 mins walk to a train station, 10 min walk to the coast. We are pleased to meet the hosts : Stuart & Angela, Winston the Dog and Spot the cat. The room was really clean for a great price. I like the character of the building, lovely carpets and overall everything was perfect. We really enjoyed the breakfast, me and my Daughter. The hosts are really generous and also there was one very nice Lady who was helping during breakfast time. Stuart is brewing coffee like a barista / strong and intensive coffee is a good start for a day. In general breakfast was really filling. We already missed the place. My Daughter at the moment is making a similar menu for a school days what she wants and all is sorted :) same like she did at Fernside. We loved the atmosphere. Stuart and Angela are hard - working people and we appreciate it. If we'll welcome Isle of Wight again we'll back to same place. Thank you so much for what you are doing. Best wishes!…

I enjoyed a lovely 3 night break here. Was made to feel most welcome by owners Stewart & Angela who have a dog called Winston. I took my partner and West Highland Terrier called Hermione as the accommodation and rooms are pet friendly. Fantastic breakfast each morning, a full English, recommend the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup to start your day! My room was clean, spacious and had tea/coffee making facilities with a Freeview TV and ensuite bathroom with a nice shower. The location was perfect, only 250 yards from Sandown station and a ten minute walk from main high street shops and beach/promenade. There is also a park close to station perfect for walking the dog.

My friend and I just had a weekend break here. We love it here. Friendly welcome from Stuart and dog Winston. He was very pleased to see us! Mabel the other dog and spot the cat were also very friendly to us throughout the stay. The rooms were sparkling clean, fresh with a good shower. My bed was a bit lumpy and squeaked every time I rolled over but got used to it on the second night. Breakfast delicious with very good strong coffee. Nice communal room/bar. Fellow guests were really nice too while we were there. Loved it. Highly recommended.
