Stunning location with great staff and great food.
The views from almost every hole rival any golf course in the world….and I don’t even play golf!
The linens are like sleeping on a cloud. There are real Silver ferns on property so I finally got to see one!
Having a golf cart to tool around in is a great benefit.

Kauri Cliffs Lodge offers a unique luxurious experience on all levels. Our deluxe suite overlooking the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean & the immaculate green golf course was certainly magical and enchanting.
We don’t play golf but we wished we did as the golf course with its 15 oceanfront holes looked absolutely fabulous. We however enjoyed using the golf buggy to drive around to explore the stunning property and discover the many nature walks.
The food was also excellent which was fully inclusive. We enjoyed all meals. Dinner was definitely the highlight with a degustation menu with matching wines. I’m still dreaming of my creamy delicious chocolate mousse!!
Staff were equally outstanding, especially Debbie and John who continually gave exceptional warm friendly humorous service. 10/10 👏
Overall - A spectacular luxurious lodge overlooking the Pacific Ocean, coastlines and 18 hole golf course. ⛳️
Kauri Cliffs lodge delivers pure indulgence in service, cuisine, facilities , accommodation and activities.

We had a group of 5 couples, friends for 30 years, who come together for a trip every two years, typically overseas. We researched luxury accommodation in NZ given travel restrictions and from a shortlist selected Kauri Cliffs. We definitely got it right. Our stay was outstanding, the property, the setting, the rooms, the food and most of all the staff were excellent. We had a fabulous 5 days and would highly recommend Kauri Cliffs. It's so much more than a world class golf course (I don't play golf!)

The property and buildings are beautiful to be sure !! However, The room prices were so completey out of sync with the quality of room, view and overall hotel experience. Our view was partially blocked by overgrown trees . The people in reception were nice but our dinner server for both nights,Pina, was unknowledgeable about the menu and really couldn’t be bothered with the details. She didn’t even try to give us the actual name of one of the dishes she said “it’s just some frenchy thing” The dinner food was barely okay - not nearly worthy of the hefty price tag The lunch was inedible - I’ll tell you how you can mess up a burger…. Smother it top and bottom with an unidentifiable sauce ! And ruin a simple chicken wrap the same way The golf shop service was medium and our caddie was terrible - snotty and just wasn’t trying to help like a caddie should . Tiny gym, tiny spa, small outdoor pool ( with a gorgeous view ) Since our visit, we’ve been to two other golf properties in NZ ….at 1/3 of the cost we enjoyed far better overall experiences. Will advise everyone to skip this resort

For $5800 per night we certainly expected more than was delivered. We had just arrived after 3 nights from their competition in Russell which way over delivered at a third the price.
The room: we booked a two bedroom unit with the understanding we would be upgraded. Well, it turns out we had already booked the highest category and they couldn’t upgrade to next level because it was full of employees of the new company Rosewood that is taking over.
The layout was poorly designed. To get to the primary bathroom from the primary bedroom you had to exit the bedroom and go through the common hallway. Who thought that was a good idea?
I bent down to tie my shoe on our third day and saw a belt sticking out from under the bed. It didn’t belong to us. Which means for three days at least the house keeping staff had missed it. Gross.
There were only three towels in the bathroom so when you get caught in a rain storm and need to dry off (we did) there weren’t towels to use for showering with after.
The food: so bad our first night that instead of going back to the property for lunch after our excursion we looked around for any alternative. We didn’t find anything so had lunch at Kauri Cliffs and it was reasonable. Dinner that night was significantly better than the first night.
The service: everyone seemed to be trying hard but with the exception of the true professionals like Sebastian (food and beverage manager) and James (guest services) they really didn’t get what five star service should be.
In summary: beautiful property with potential but wildly overpriced for what you currently get particularly when you compare to the alternatives in the area.

Kauri Cliffs is a beautiful property. This was our second visit and we were so looking forward to coming back. The management has changed as they are now managed by Rosewood and are going thru some major changes that unfortunately are not positive.
Last year they offered a really fun Summer series which was a different activity everyday. They had a putting contest, wine tasting and a pickleball clinic when we were there. They eliminated this.
Last year each night they had a different menu and the food was very good. Now the menu was the same each night and the food was mediocre and service was very slow.
Add to that a total lack of amenities in the cottage and I think Rosewood should carefully consider what they are eliminating.
Golf was great and the staff is still very helpful and most accommodating.

Dear breakfunkel, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. Careful consideration when revitalizing a product is most certainly high on the agenda, we truly hope you return one day soon for your third visit to enjoy this incredible property. Sincerely, The Team at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs

If we could add an infinite number of dots to the review button to make it far more than excellent we would. It is a given that The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs provides luxury accommodations and they are luxurious. If you want the ultimate in luxury accommodations shop no further. It is not, however, the beautiful location or the luxury accommodations that would keep me coming back. It is the team of dedicated staff who make the Lodge at Kauri Cliffs an experience well above and beyond 5 stars. We were all personally greeted and shown around the property. A wonderful lunch was provided for us even though we arrived long after the lunch menu was being served. We enjoyed incredibly relaxing massages in the SPA and wonderful meals in the dining room. A huge thank you to Sebastian and the entire team for making our meals so very special. It was my birthday while we were visiting and the team went well above and beyond to make it memorable. We stayed in the owners cottage, Beautiful. Comfortable. Great for Two couples with two master suites and a large living area. The views were second to none and the pool was warm and inviting. We did see the other accomodations and they were all lovely. A very special trip at a very special lodge.

We stayed in February/2024, for a business event, and left 1600 US dollars and our passports in the safe. On the last day we went to pick it up and it was missing 500 dollars. We spoke to management, but so far we have not heard back from the hotel.

I have never felt so comfortable and yet so pampered at a property anywhere. Approachable and friendly staff, impeccable service, wonderful food, amazing views. Rooms are thoughtfully designed, quiet, peaceful and luxurious. Highly recommend staying on a Tuesday night in the summer when you can take advantage of the BBQ on the pink sand beach. Truly the highlight of our trip. Property has 6,000 acres and many walking/hiking trails of moderate difficulty. We spent three days hiking and could have stayed one or two more if we added a helicopter or farm tour. Recommend minimum 4 nights' stay to fully enjoy this property. We drove from Auckland, but flight to local airport reportedly easy by other guests. If you do drive, make sure to go to Honey House Cafe or Plough & Feather in Kerikeri located in one of the most picturesque spots nearby. Robertson Lodge properties were the best of our visit to New Zealand. Don't hesitate to stay at one or all of them. Thanks to the staff for making our 25th anniversary trip so special and one we will never forget!

I have recently visited with my husband for our 3rd time and stayed for 3 nights. We were lucky enough to have the pre-dinner canapés one night at one of the new villas....it was a great opportunity to have a look around this part of the property which we wouldn't normally have access to. The villa was stunning...would have to say the pool area at main lodge is nicer though but the great thing about a villa is that you can choose between that or your own private pool!!
The suites and the lodge, the views and food and service were all sublime and we had a lovely stay. Staff pre-stay could not have been more helpful when it came to spa treatment bookings and other arrangements.
