We didn’t actually stay here - we went in last September and booked their function room for 1st November 2019 for my daughters wedding reception. We were shown the entire hotel, paid £150 deposit which we were told would be behind the bar on the night as we didn’t require a band

Dear Sam, I'm sorry there has been this confusion with your booking. Charlie the previous manager was let go from his possition because of disorganised situations like this. He should have informed you that the room hire is £300 as are all deposits, £300 and a receipt should have been given to you which would have pointed out that all deposits are non refundable unless we have to cancel. What would be the point of a deposit otherwise? We decided to honour your booking for £150, we were looking forward to hosting your party and as you stated minimal arrangements had been asked from us. We are a family run hotel, we run seasonally like the rest of the area, we work from later April to end of October. The rest of the time we have other work we need to focus on including raising our children. We are fully dedicated to The Nightingale from April - October and we are closed from November - April except from the Nightingale parties during the winter. We would like to point out that we have had no negative media exposure. What I believe you are referring to is when we painted the hotel and some of the locals got sensitive and nosy about it. That was not negative, we recently had the mayor and Amy Winehouse's mom over so I cant see how our media exposure was negative. We also managed to raise over £1600 on that night for island charities. I thank you and your support but I don't think we should have to pay you £150 for it, do you? Saying that we will now be charging £200 just for a meeting to discuss parties or weddings. I don't think people realise sometimes that when you are taking a staff members time you are costing the employer money, then the next step comes where you pay a deposit, months later after hours and hours of work they decide to cancel... why should we have to cover the costs, isn't that what the deposit was for? I'm so sorry that the wedding was called off and I understand that you feel out £150 but equally we don't feel we should be out any money either. I'm not going to try to calculate how much time was spent on your booking we're just not going to return the deposit. Isn't that fair? if you really dont think so pls email me with your suggestion, I promise I'll personally reply to you. I kindly ask that you remove this review, we are a hotel for the tourists, not a wedding venue for the locals. By lowering our score how is that going to help us here when we are trying to raise standards and bring more tourists to the isle? Don't use trip advisor as a weapon use it to help travellers who consider booking with us. You've never even stayed with us...I appreciate you mentioning that but to giving us a 1 rating?!....is that fair? Best wishes, Dino Joachim DEAR READERS DUE TO THE AMOUNT AND TIME WEDDINGS TAKE, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE JUST A HOTEL/VENUE AND NOT PLANNERS, WE WILL NOT BE CONFIRMING ANY BOOKING WITHOUT A £1000 NON - REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT WITH A MINIMUM £5000 WEDDING BUDGET. Myself and my 7 year old stayed here for her birthday treat! She chose the hotel herself after looking at the beautiful interior (she has exceptional taste!) Before we arrived the communication between myself and the hotel was great. When we arrived we were greeted by the

It’s very clear that the owners have taken years to develop the look and feel of this hotel. Great place to stop for a drink and take it the furnishings and decor. Hotel staff very friendly and willing to help us navigate the local town and restaurants. Just a few moments

How much is a large bowl of soup?
sorry I've not had soup. the meal we had was lovely. i think it would come more into fine dining than a quick bowl of soup at lunch. although i may be wrong as we've only been there evenings. check out their fb page and message them. they are fast in replying.

Just a short walk from the seaside (down the hill) with a number of restaurant/bars with entertainment. Soon after we left we heard there was a fifties night at the hotel that got good reviews.tim

Where are dogs allowed in the hotel
In all areas except the two dinning rooms and I think the pool. Maybe some bedrooms but I am not sure.
