Bayswell Park Hotel garners appreciation for its diverse amenities, particularly its breakfast spread and relaxing hot tubs, all complemented by mesmerizing sea views, although a few guests would prefer more breakfast options and the addition of bathtubs. The rooms' cleanliness and ocean vistas receive commendations, but some guests suggest they are a tad snug or feel outdated. The hotel's ambiance, enhanced by its recent refurbishments and historic allure, is well-received, despite occasional remarks about old-fashioned decor. Nestled in a scenic coastal location, the hotel offers a hospitable environment with a staff known for their warmth and assistance, though opinions on value for money vary among guests.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful, the evening meal was excellent as was the breakfast, they had numerous options beyond the full Scottish fry-up. Meals are in the conservatory which look out to the cliffs and sea - quite spectacular. Although the evening meal was really good, it was fully priced, I paid around £36 for 3 courses.

The bar is quite cosy but they didn't have Belhaven on tap, peculiar as the brewery is just down the road.

I was in a single room at the front of the hotel so had great sea views. The room was pretty small, I had to push the bed at an angle to get space to sit at the desk. The en-suite had just a shower, so do ask if you like a bath. I slept well, there was no doors banging or people running along the corridors.

Looking out from my room, I could see the ground floor rooms had small patios with hut-tubs which would be attractive in the summer.

Room rate for the single B&B was £85 for a Monday which I though was reasonable and would certainly go back to this hotel.

Our sea view room (No. 12) was spacious and comfortable; all the staff were friendly and helpful; the food was good - both quantity and quality; so we will happily return next year. The covered 4 poster made reading in bed very difficult, for the two bedside lamps were ornamental not practical, and the large bathroom needs a plumber. The basin hot tap can only dribble, and the two protruding stainless steel dispenser pipes hinder rather than help one's ablutions - and sitting on the plug in the middle of the bath is not ideal. May I gently recommend a side-mounted mixer tap for the bath, and removal of the two offending s/s pipes, both of which got in my way?!

This hotel has excellent friendly staff, from the cleaning staff to the managers, ( too many to name individually ) they are anxious to help with any request that comes their way.
We visited 29th Dec till January 1st '23-'24 and there was 7 in our party.
The hotel was very clean and I loved their comlimentary hand soaps and hand cream, it smelled amazingly fresh.
The hotel is situated perfectly for the Dunbar main shopping area but not close enough to be disrurbed by traffic etc.
There is a communal room that you can sit in if you don't want to go out or stay in your room. We watched the fire works display from here for hogmanay and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It has beautiful outlooks onto the Bay, where you can be hypnotised by watching the sea.
The room I was in but perfectly fitted out with everything you'd need for your stay. If you can remember your Netflix or other streaming sites passwords then you can connect to these in your room also.
We didn't eat in the dinning room however, we did have breakfast that was delicious and it was an extensive menu, congratulations to the chef. There were many of us in our party and we all had different things from the menu, that were freshly prepared and there wasn't one of us who were disappointed or left feeling hungry, in fact we all went without lunch the breakfast was so filling.
Definitely would visit again

The location of this hotel is stunning! The views are definitely the biggest selling point.
We booked a hot tub “suite” which are only accessible by walking round the side and back of the hotel which is poorly lit at night. There is no access to the rooms from inside the hotel.
On arrival the room door (accessed outside from the hotel grounds) was already open and there was a very unpleasant smell (like soured milk) coming from the room. It was unbearable and we asked to be moved to another room but were told no other hot tub rooms were available.
At no point did they offer to inspect the room to try and at least identify the source of the smell. We were offered air freshener which never arrived. Luckily we realised the smell was coming from the extractor fan in the bathroom and after turning it off the smell eventually went away. It was obvious they were already aware of the smell and had left the room door open to air the room out without actually attempting to resolve it.
The room could in no way be described as a suite. It was a room with 2 tub chairs and a coffee table. There was no refrigerator in the room. The bed was rock solid which made it very difficult to sleep.
The hot tub was lovely especially with the view of the cliffs and sea. One of the hotel staff came round at 10:30pm to let us know we had to be out of the hot tub by 11pm and she would come back at 10;50pm to check we had vacated the hot tub! This was very disappointing.
The hotel was not serving dinners and there was nowhere to order food after 10pm. The bar also does not provide room service.
The decor is very dated throughout the hotel except for the main restrooms and the restaurant downstairs.
The cooked breakfast was good.
Overall I doubt we would return here unless there was a change in management and extensive redecoration. It is a shame as it could really be an exceptional hotel in the right hands.

Very dated rooms and hotel in need of serious investment. Hot tub rooms have to be accessed from the outside so no way to go into dining room/reception etc without walking round the hotel and past other couples in " private " hot tub rooms. Rooms with hot tubs/private terrace overlooked by rooms above also. Nothing like the pics on the website. However, food for breakfast was really good, staff are friendly and approachable and when we raised a issue it was dealt with. Manager refunded us a small percentage of the room cost back. Great location and views, just in need of a lot of money to justify their rates in my opinion.

I have coeliac disease and only eat safe gluten free. I research thoroughly but this restaurant had not shown up on my searches but I was prepared to ask questions as they had a new menu from today. The conservatory dining room is lovely and on lighter nights and during the day will have stunning views. They seemed a wee bit short staffed tonight but the staff were very helpful and pleasant and we were in no rush. My first GF choice was not available. I chose a home made burger with a few tweaks but within minutes the nice colleague Russell advised me that after talking to the chef it was not suitable as non gluten free breadcrumbs had been added to the recipe. I am much happier being disappointed by truthfulness than being served unsafe food. The chef actually made me a much nicer meal and the added bonus was it was given to me without charge as an apology for the inconvenience. This went over and above anything expected or needed. The food was lovely. The setting lovely and I wish them all the best as they move forward and hopefully more coeliacs will give them a try.

I stayed for one night after a 5 hour drive from Yorkshire. I was on a camping adventure but decided to do the long journey in one go and then stay in a hotel the first night. I liked it here very much. The room I had was excellent and had a sea view. The bathroom was great and they provided luxury shower gels and shampoos etc. I had my evening meal in the restaurant (which I used the online reservation facility to book and which all ran smoothly) The food was very nice and good value for money and served in proper restaurant style. I had a chicken and haggis dish and some lovely samosas. The bar was great as well and had some excellent ales in bottles. Breakfast was very nice as well and the menu was brilliant, having a great variety of different breakfast dishes (even a Middle Eastern one) I'd definitely come here again, either passing through on the way further North or for a nice atmospheric winter break and some more of their nice meals and beers.

The hotel was in a great location with panoramic views . Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. The hotel was a bit tired and in need of a make over. Our shower had no pressure and when brought to the attention of reception we were advised they knew so why put us in the room. We were offered another room, too much inconvenience to repack and unpack (there for 4 days) The windows were covered in bird droppings and we were advise the window were very high and the window cleaner had not yet been. Fair comment. The down side for us was the dinning room (conservatory) was freezing, even after being supplied with oil heaters all around us. After investigation we identified that 4 hopper window were open. After drawing this to the staffs attention we were advised yes they don't close they need fixed...really.
The hotel lost £130 per night from our party as we ate elsewhere despite the food being excellent we preferred somewhere warm. On checking out no apology was forth coming. Disappointing

Thanks for the positive comments regarding out staff, food quality and location of our hotel. I'm pleased that our staff tried to rectify any issus raised, we are always here to help. Scotland can be cold in the winter, especially with our hotel overlooking the sea and the vast storms during your visit. We provide additional heaters for rooms if required and glad our staff provided these for you. I appreciate that you noticed how friendly and helpful our staff are and sure they were appologetic on any issues raised. We hope that you can return in the future.

We chose this hotel because of its location and good reviews. I’m a mum with a son who is almost 13 so finding a location that suited both of us is challenging. We were soooo lucky to find this place . Although one of the rooms with a spa bath would have been amazing or a room with a sea view but actually it just get out more because the views from this location are absolutely spectacular. The sunrises and the sunsets are breathtaking from the hotel picnic benches. The staff could not have been more attentive or kinder, whilst making us feel comfortable during these strange times. We felt very safe as they cleaned benches etc after people left and there was hand sanitiser to use on entering the building. We had one evening meal there which was absolutely superb – great value for money as great quality. The breakfasts are out of this world too and will suit anybody. The choices include kippers, vegan options, traditional Scottish breakfast (inc haggis) , avocado and poached egg as well as eggs Benedict. I also had the porridge with local honey, bananas and walnuts –to die for!!!
The weather had been unusually warm and so it was a bit stuffy in the bedroom - even with the window open. We mentioned this to Lynn and she went out and bought a fan for us. So so thoughtful and attentive. She was also a great source of information on where to eat locally. Nothing was too much bother for her- lovely person!!! Haven’t been this impressed with service like this in a hotel in long long time. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples, solo travellers or families. We will definitely be coming back and telling others about this gem

We had a great time here with friends. Everything makes us want to stay much longer than we did. The service is very friendly, the rooms are clean and nice. Our group of friends rented all categories:
The rooms with a terrace and whirlpool are of course particularly recommended for those who like a warm bath. But the suite with a view of the sea and the other rooms are also great!
There is a nice selection at breakfast; bread, jam, drinks, etc. are available at the buffet, the "main ingredients" have to be ordered - and of course I highly recommend the full Scottish breakfast.
We also had dinner in the hotel twice and booked the "high tea" once. The latter may seem a bit expensive at first glance, but when you are served the various delicacies with tea, the price is put into perspective.
It's well worth it!
We will definitely come back.
