Stayed 2 nights. The room was great, had everything we needed and was nicely decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a church bell, we asked for the quitest room - they also supply ear plugs. As there was a heat wave we had the windows open and it actually didn't bother us too much. I am a light sleeper and very bothered by noise but it really wasn't too bad. Stairs might be a little difficult for some to take luggage up. Very good value for money.

Review We stayed at the golden lion Monday to Friday in one of their double rooms. On arrival met the manger at the bar, she was nice and very welcoming. We were shown to our room which was on the second floor up very steep and narrow stairs. As this is advertised On that website that as it is a listed building they are unable to put in lifts or build wider stairs. Our room was lovely and clean with a nice view of the street below us. We unpacked and went back to bar and had a drink and a chat to the manger. Unfortunately because of covid they were under staffed and were a little stressed. We thought we would have a wonder and found that the harbour was just outside the door. Lovely bars and restaurants with a great feel of everyone on holiday and enjoying the sun. We had made plans thankfully a few weeks prier to coming as new it would be busy. thank god I did as people who were just turned were turned away at the door. That evening we setting in for the night to find the bed very soft ( basic mattress & over used) my partner slept well but unfortunately I had to put pillows and towels under the mattress to give it some sturdiness. The room was a little on the slopey side as it’s a very old building but nothing to worry about. The room was spacious and the decor was nice. Lovely big fluffy towels and a fan to keep you cool at night. The only thing I would say is that we were there for 5days and not once did our bins or towels/bedding was changed. Obviously not a biggy we just took rubbish with us when we headed out for the day. Just be aware as you are on the Main Street/ road it has its traffic and holiday makers that get a little rowdy but nothing to put you off from staying. The hotel was full and you can hear people come and go but not noisy at all. Most people here are couples or familys. Would just be aware if you had young children carrying them up and down the stairs would be difficult especially with prams/bags. We would definitely stay again as it’s in a Brillaint location with all the shops and harbour next to you. Beach was 3mins walk down the lovely little lanes with all the quirky shops. Thanks guys it was a lovely. We knew you were extremely short staffed but you are doing an amazing job. Had the best holiday x

Been meaning to write this for ages.... had a great 3 night short break here in April 21. Excellent location for beaches, town & restaurants. The couple who run the hotel were friendly and welcoming, and made the effort to engage guests in conversation, as did the bar staff. Check in was efficient and trouble-free. Loved the room, newly refurbished and much more stylishly decorated than is usual for UK pub accommodation. Everything very clean & very well-presented... lovely to have fresh-looking bed linen & new white fluffy bath towels. I'm very surprised at the negative comments on the 'terrible coffee..' review. We had breakfast her every day & everything was scrupulously clean; the waitress politely (and very appropriately) reminded us about wearing our masks when walking around, so I'd say there was good consideration of Covid hygiene. I will certainly stay again & would highly recommend it.

Went in for lunch and a coffee. We were met with a dirty table and were given a well used ‘disposable’ menu. Ordered a coffee and a latte. My coffee was ok, however the latte had very little milk and was very dark in colour. We complained to the waitress about the coffee and she blamed the coffee machine. She could have just looked at the colour of the coffee before she served it and realised something was wrong. She made another and this was better. No apology was made. After the problem with the coffee decided we would not eat there. The waitress then made it clear that we were no longer welcome and made us pay immediately. This place does not deserve to stay in business. Avoid.

Had a really lovely stay at the Golden Lion. The food is excellent quality and value, and all the staff very friendly and helpful, despite having to work extra hard in these Covid days. Very central location which means it can be a little bit noisy at night and there’s no hotel parking, but this is the same for every hotel in a central location in Weymouth. We parked in a nearby car park which was cheap and no problem and any noise didn’t bother us. Would definitely go back.
