Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Premier Inn Chippenham hotel boasts a location that many guests find convenient for exploring local attractions and accessing major roadways, despite some concerns about entrance cleanliness. While opinions on the hotel's value and amenities vary, with some criticisms regarding heating, Wi-Fi, and bathroom fixtures, others commend the property for its overall cleanliness and comfort.
The service is a point of contention; accolades are given for the staff's friendliness, contrasting with grievances about the restaurant and management. Room comfort is acknowledged, yet there are calls for updates and improved temperature control.

Hotel's Favourite
Being here before for visiting family, same reason this time. Very reliable servcie, good room, clean, spacious. No hassle, good night sleep. Restaurant next door is very good, slow servcie, doesn’t seems interested with us. But Premier Inn staff definitely make this up for them.

Best thing about the hotel is the beds, I can pretty much always get a good night's sleep as the beds are very comfy. There's no air con, but they do provide a fan, the window opens and they might change the bed sheets to be lighter in the summer. Heating is just a little radiator, so if you need to dry clothes use one of the chairs or stools. The Wi-Fi regularly drops off and can be poor in areas, often mobile signal is much better even with the Ultimate option. The breakfast has a decent selection and I enjoyed it more than most hotels I visit. I do like the food at the Brewer's Fayre, the ribs were my favourite but the sauce changed to beer flavour on my last visit which isn't to my taste. Some of the rooms have power sockets near the bed, some don't. Some have a night light, some don't. Never found the handwash/soap too empty, usually take it out as a reminder to restock. Enough towels are provided and always clean. Some of the rooms are showing a bit of wear and tear, some carpet stains, wall scratches, paint tearing etc. Staff are very helpful and the self-checkin kiosks are handy.

Great location for our trip, easy to find and park, good mix of close by services including pub & supermarkets (all in all pretty perfect) however WiFi was non existent, paid for Ultimate WiFi couldn’t actually use it as the signal couldn’t be found, online help useless, complete waste of money, make sure you have your own signal and you will be fine.
Lack of towels in room and two tea bags isn’t exactly generous but hay hoe for the price, it was ok assuming you don’t need to work from the room at any stage. Suggest you try to get an upstairs room if you want a quiet nights sleep though as who ever was above us certainly wasn’t lite on their feet😴

Stayed 2 nights as a birthday weekend away. The positives were Premier Inn offer a comfy double bed, tea and coffee refreshments in the room, good soundproofing so was able to get decent night sleep, late check out time (12pm), good shower pressure, easy to drive to location and helpful members of staff - Tino brought us a wine cooler and some complimentary drinks to help us celebrate! Thanks Tino! Overall the staff were very helpful and provided excellent customer service.
The things that could be improved include a cleaner bathroom e.g. bath was not clean as you'd expect. The breakfast buffet was extremely busy, though in fairness to Premier Inn this wasn't their restaurant but the restaurant next door where people go to eat, but when we went people were queing in extremely tight spaces, it could have been better organised by changing the layout of the room where breakfast is served and limiting number of guests booking breakfast at the same time. Also it was disappointing that Premier Inn charge guests an extra £36 to change one night of their stay (we had to rearrange due to illness), though we chose the Standard rate booking, won't use that option again.

Stayed for a few nights and as we booked in advance we got a reasonable deal.
Our room was lovely and clean and quiet. The room had a great shower than you can lift off if you don’t want to wash your hair every day and that was helpful. We had a tea tray and kettle, there was no decaff but it wasn’t the end of the world. The bed was very comfortable and the TV a reasonable size.
Staff we saw during our stay were very helpful and pleasant and we will stay here again.

Receptionist at check in was very nice and friendly. The room was unbearably hot and noticed there was a fan there. On entering the bathroom, there were small bits of what looked like toilet paper. Having worked in housekeeping, the bathroom floor is the last job to be done so don't know why bits of paper would be on the floor. We had the fan on most of the time as it was a very humid night. On going to bed, very disappointed, The bed actually sunk in the middle and made such a racket just turning over. What with the heat and the bed issue, we hardly got any sleep. On checking out in the morning, nobody to be seen! Hand sanitizer on entering reception wasn't replenished as one was still empty in the morning. Always stayed at premier inns but won't be using this one again.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Premier Inn Chippenham hotel
Responded 28 Jun 2021
Hi there Muriel, Thank you for your review. We're really sorry to hear about the issues that you had such as the room is very hot and there were cleanliness issues. This is very disappointing and certainly not what we would expect at all. We’d like to assure you we’ve made sure that all your feedback and comments have been passed on to the relevant teams. This also includes the manager of the hotel who will be able to chase this up with the hotel team to help prevent any similar issues from happening again. Once again we're very sorry for any disappointment on this occasion, but we're confident on your next experience you'll have a much more enjoyable stay! Stay safe and have a lovely week! Kind regards, Danny

Friendly efficient staff. Comfortable clean room relatively quiet (considering it was half term with lots of families staying) All the tv electronic connection panel was working often not the case in many Premier Inns. The meal package was good value with surprisingly good food and service at the Brewers fayre.

Myself and several other members of my choir stayed here to attend the Mid Somerset Music Festival as we wanted a reasonably priced, good value stay within reach of Bath. My stay was just what I wanted and the room had everything I needed, was quiet and I was able to run through my music in the afternoon when I arrived. I had lunch in the restaurant and started the weekend off well as I felt relaxed.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Rooms were clean, bed was very comfy. They only give you 2 thin pillows, so be sure to ask for more. Staff are friendly and helpful.
However, the breakfast is complete trash. The thinnest bread I’ve ever seen! Miserable eggs, ropey bacon, soulless sausages. My wife and I both ordered eggs and toast, only to be given 1 slice of thin, aneamic toast each! The croissants come in pairs (according to the menu), but I only got 1 sad little croissant. Same for the pain au chocolat.
Since moving to table service, they’ve become so mean. Considering it’s £8.99 per person and “unlimited”, it’s scandalous. They even forgot to give us cutlery, leaving us looking longingly at our miserable breakfasts, having only our hands to eat with
The restaurant is sad and uninviting. We will never eat an overpriced, sloppy Premier Inn breakfast again.

This Premier Inn was really, truly the best I've stayed in. The staff were exceptionally good. The reception ladies were incredibly sweet and chatty with my son which he loved. The room had little kid friendly treats like sweets, colouring pages and towel animals. It was probably one of the freshest and up to Scratch rooms I've stayed in. I have found some premier inns to be quite tired and in need of a spruce up, especially the bathrooms, but this one was fab. I can't really fault anything.
A super stay and great value.
