Arrived to a very warm welcome on what was a very wet day. We stayed in a garden room (18) and it was very well appointed with the bonus of being able to sit outside in a private area if weather permitted. A huge bathroom with walk in shower and a seperate bath. Very clean and comfortable. We had booked on a dinner bed and breakfast rate. The food is extremely good with an oriental twist, but some classics as well, so something for everyone. Breakfast was also very good, when it’s busy it can take some time for ordering etc but this is what makes this hotel so special. There is no rush. You are there to relax and enjoy it all. The team are all very professional and welcoming and will help with anything you need. They are currently renovating rooms having taken over the hotel in January, so there are some odd bits and pieces that you may see need attention, but they are working hard to achieve this in a very difficult period for hospitality. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel if relaxing and enjoying the beautiful gardens is what you’re after. We hope to be back soon.

We recently had our wedding ceremony and celebration at Stanton Manor and stayed with family and friends at the hotel over the weekend. During the planning process the Wedding Planner Elise was amazing and had great communication throughout, listening to all our questions and putting our minds at ease. We even asked to have a special private dinner the night before and Elise worked with the chef to accommodate our request. When we got there the staff helped set up the venue and couldn’t be nicer to all our family and friends. It really felt that all the staff were not just working a wedding, but a part of it. Special mention to Ceri who was so helpful helping everyone arrive and Jorge who was particularly incredible at calming the grooms nerves the morning of the ceremony! The staff even dismantled and boxed up all our decorations whilst we partied, something that really helped us catch our honeymoon flight in time the next morning.

The venue was perfect, the food was incredible, the rooms were lovely, and the staff were amazing.

Can’t wait to go back on our anniversary to bring back all the happy memories!

Can’t thank you all enough for making our day so special!

We really liked this hotel. It is small enough to have a nice friendly atmosphere but large enough to provide a quality experience.
On our arrival, we were given an upgrade to a superior room without asking and found it to be large and very clean in a quiet position overlooking the beautiful extensive gardens.
We had a meal included for one of the nights with our deal which was of a good quality.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
We would definitely like to return to this hotel.
As with most hotels I would expect it to be busier if there was a wedding function in place however the marquee is situated well away from the main hotel.

Very disappointing. We booked through Secret Escapes and thought it must be of a good standard. Firstly, our room, which at the time of booking we upgraded to a Superior room and was let down. The room was big and airy, but unfortunately there were stains on the carpet and stains on the sofa. The table that housed the tea and coffee was badly damaged with blistered paint peelings. Cobweb on the skirting board. Bed was clean and comfortable. Our experience with the food was very disappointing after reading the good reviews. We had our breakfast and dinner included in our price. My husband ordered the fish in batter. The fish was off. My husband detected a smell and quietly spoke with George who was waiting on us. George spoke to the chef and returned with the excuse that the fish had been marinated first. My husband was in the fish and chip industry for 30 years and knows when fish is off. He was not offered an alternative and ended up sharing my meal. The following evening we heard another customer complaining about her salmon and refused to pay for her meal. Clearly there is a problem with the fish. As mentioned by another reviewer we also found the chips to be over fried and consisted mainly of the small ends you get at the end of frying a batch of chips. Our continental breakfast was more than acceptable and Cerry who served us was lovely and helpful. The hotel building is a lovely historical building but is not of an acceptable standard for paying customers. Grounds were excellently kept and was the best aspect of our stay. It would have been more appropriate to at least refurbish half the rooms and the restaurant before booking rooms out again by the new owners. Then book the refurbish rooms whilst refurbishing the rest of the rooms. We would not return and would definitely not recommend.

Diabolical! Having booked a Premium room, bed and breakfast, I expected an enjoyable stay but it was far from it. I appreciate there is an economic downturn at present but when you pay to stay somewhere and then find 1. They turn the power off to the electric heaters in winter so they can’t be used, 2. Provide one pillow and one sofa cushion on the bed per guest, 3. Don’t offer a working shower, 4. Run out of butter for what simply put is an extremely poor attempt at a continental breakfast, you’re left thoroughly disappointed. Continental breakfast included tea or coffee, cornflakes, juice and bread (no butter). I heard other guests complaining too but management were nowhere to be seen. When I asked for butter and was left waiting stood at the toaster for 5 minutes, I asked a different member of staff and was then told unfortunately they had run out. I feel sorry for today’s guests already. Dinner last night was very sub standard. Id recommend the local McDonald’s over eating at the hotel if you want anything edible. Premium room was just about ok, dated but clean, but if you like the simple things in life like hot water, heating and food, maybe try somewhere else.

It's a shame we weren't given the opportunity address any issues you had during your stay with us. But to confirm: 1. We do not turn the power off to electric heaters, the heating system is on a timer which switches off late at night and comes back on very early in the morning. We also provide additional heaters upon request should any of our guests require them. 2. Guests will find additional pillows in the wardrobes in every bedroom at the hotel to help themselves to. 3. I'm sorry if a shower wasn't working correctly, should we have been told at the time then we would have tried to move you to another room to use the facilities and also discounted your stay accordingly. 4. A food delivery was late arriving to the hotel, I can only apologise that they ran out of butter mid-service. Our continental offering also includes home made granola, fresh meat, yoghurts and cheese. I'm confident that the vast majority of our guests prefer our food over McDonalds, but I guess you can't please everyone all of the time!

Arrived to this idyllic location to be greeted by Jorge a credit to the establishment. Beautiful room with stunning views of the gardens . Did catch a glimpse of a deer and rabbits on the lawn. Whilst at the higher end of prices in the bar it nevertheless has a pleasant ambience as does the whole building. Dinner again a delight good food served well in a room full of charm . Pillows ,beds all comfy in fact slept extremely well. Breakfast with Ceri was a joy and her choice of sausage to whomever it concerns, was without doubt the right one ,they were exceptional. Perhaps Breakfast ie full rather than continental included in the price would be preferable and perhaps a slight discount given if only continental breakfast taken . Giving always in my experience as a hotelier far exceeds taking . Overall under new management as I understand a well run and well maintained romantic ,practical (very close to M4) escape. A glowing review you may say then why only 4 stars . The 5th I'm afraid went the way of so many of the visits around the countries hotels . Their refusal to accept cash . We do pay by card WHEN we want our choice not yours . Our choice who and by how much we tip . Would love to return but only when that policy changes. However as said a 5star service and location.

Thanks also for your suggestion to bring cash back to the hotel, I will certainly look at changing that policy in the coming weeks. Please feel free to check in with me on that (rachael@stantonmanor.com) when you are next considering staying with us - hopefully we will welcome you back again in the future.

We got married at Stanton Manor in February and genuinely could not think of a more perfect location to have had our special day.

Not long before our wedding took place, ownership of the venue changed changed hands but we never had any reason to be worried about this because when Elise took over our wedding planning it was seamless and so professional. All communication was responded to quickly.

The venue is in the most beautiful location and just as lovely on the inside as on the outside. There was lots of parking and plenty of space for everyone. The room for the bridal party to get ready in the morning was spacious, bright and felt special.

The food was absolutely incredible! We got so many compliments from all our guests. I am a vegetarian and so pleased that they'd made so much effort to make the food just as tasty and interesting as the main menu.

Nothing was ever too much trouble!! Each and every member of staff on the day were so focus on making sure that we had the best wedding day. The staff were so professional, organised and really care about doing a great job. They were great with our guests and wedding suppliers too.

The whole experience from viewing Stanton Manor for the first time with Jorges to leaving the morning after the wedding and everything in between, was made so enjoyable and stress free by the venue - exactly as a wedding should be. We couldn't thank Stanton Manor enough!

We recently had our wedding at Stanton Manor, we cannot recommend this venue highly enough, it blew all of our expectations out of the water.
Firstly and mostly we would like to thank the amazing staff at Stanton Manor. We would like to give a special shout out to the wedding planner Elise. She truly goes above and beyond to make every little detail perfect from the planning to every aspect of the day. She is a very friendly and genuinely lovely person, who we cannot praise enough. We would also like to thank Luke who was a big part of our day, making sure everything ran smoothly and he was always checking to see if there was anything more he could do to help. The Stanton Manor team as a whole were incredible, we could not fault the service and all of our guests were singing there praises also.
We would also like to say how stunning the location of the venue is, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, as well as the outside ceremony set up. The rooms were all lovely, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. From start to finish our day was magical. The food was also amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed each course, we received many compliments throughout the day from our guests about the food also.
We are so happy we chose Stanon Manor, our special day was beyond what we could've dreamt of, we cannot stop praising every aspect of the day, but it was truly perfectly organised and ran so smoothly, and we will never forget all the hard work the team put in for us. We will definitely be returning in the future.

I don’t know where to start!
We waited at reception to check in for about 20 minutes while the girl at reception flirted with the chef!
When she finally appeared she booked us into a room with a filthy bath and filthy bed linen. We complained, she came back to view the room and asked us ‘have you tried cleaning it’ 🤦🏼‍♀️
We were moved to a superior room which she came to check with us and again bed linen heavily stained. No one had hoovered either, no dusting or any care taken to clean it.
She then moved us to another room which thankfully had clean bedding.
But it’s run down, dirty and musty smelling.
We ordered 2 puddings to our room and the chef looked like he should be working at a garage he was that greasy! Couldn’t eat the pudding.
The bed was comfortable so I’ll give them that…but found ants in there.
The whole place needs a good shake up, new staff who are interested in hospitality. Everything was just off. Shame as it could be so beautiful.

I'm sorry to read this, we've clearly fallen short on the high standards we are striving for on this occasion. With regards to the linen, it appears our supplier had a technical issue which caused some markings on the bedding, this has been resolved but I'm sorry it happened. Other issues have been addressed internally so lessons can be learnt. Our Guest Service Manager will be in touch with you today to offer a suitable resolution.

Arrived to this beautiful hotel and checked into reception. We were given our key and walked to our room. This was room 1 on the first floor one of their superior rooms facing their lovely garden. Plenty of space, the largest bed ever and comfy seats. Plenty of wardrobe space with good supply of wooden coat hangers. The bathroom was huge with a lovely separate bath and a huge shower. We decided to go to the bar and have a bottle of wine to drink before and during dinner. The price was acceptable and less than I have been paying in other hotels. We had booked dinner and were certainly not disappointed with the selection of choice. The servings were huge and beautifully presented. Quality excellent. They only present a three course dinner which to say the least is incredible if you can manage to eat it all portion size is huge. We both slept really well in the huge bed, we used the extra pillows they kept on the wardrobe. In the morning we had the continental breakfast which was ideal as we were still full from the night before, though for hungry guest they also do a full cooked breakfast. All the staff were fantastic, ensuring everything was as we wished it. Thanks for a great stay, we will return.
