Visited The Grange for the first time for our wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. The hotel itself, the staff, the food and bedroom were all excellent. The overall friendliness of the staff made for a very enjoyable stay. Will revisit in the future.
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Grange Hotel and have to say that we were very impressed. Sometimes website photographs do not match reality, but happily, that was not the case and our expectations were fully met. The hotel itself has a charm and an elegance that I imagine it has retained from when it was built in 1866. All areas are beautifully decorated and maintained, and our large room was lovely with a 4 poster bed and a roll top bath in the en-suite. Towels were very white and fluffy, just how they should be. Water was hot and plentiful. Lovely surroundings are so important and I think they affected our fellow guests similarly as everyone seemed friendly and happy. Parking places immediately outside the hotel were limited and usually already taken but we always managed to find a space further down the drive which entailed a short walk back up. Breakfast was well thought out with a list being presented each morning for us to tick our choices of cereal, coffee etc. which was brought to the table. Hot buffet was served separately when we went up for it. We didn’t take dinner in the restaurant as we prefer to go out. Staff members were polite, friendly, and sometimes delightfully informal, it was nice to see them interacting jovially with each other at times. A small issue with our room on arrival was quickly resolved. We were able to book and use the swimming pool and jacuzzi, another good experience. Grange-over-Sands itself is also charming and has an old fashioned and genteel feel about it. The ornamental gardens, with the duck pond, are lovely, and we enjoyed regular walks along the promenade which is also lined with gardens. Whoever maintains these deserves a thank you - they are beautiful. Proper delicious ice cream can be had, and the Indian restaurant in Grange is also to be recommended. A couple of things: new toasters are needed for the breakfast toast; a selection of pillows would be nice rather than pillows all the same thickness. Would we return? Most definitely. …
The hotel offered an upgrade as we checked in which was lovely. Staff were brilliant especially Karen and Louis and the food was first class and all ( including breakfast) was freshly cooked. The only disappointment was the spa with no steam working and only cold showers. We will be back once we check if the spa is fully operational!
Spent 3 nights at hotel. Lovely warm welcome and a complimentary upgrade on arrival. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Decor a little dated but incredibly clean and cared for. Hotel lovely and warm throughout. Restaurant was elegant but cosy serving delicious food and served with a smile.
Absolutely faultless From the helpfulness of ALL the staff, the standard of rooms and the excellent food. It would be extremely challenging to find any fault with this magnificent Hotel. I look forward to my next visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay
