Booked a table for my Husbands birthday when he suggested we should also book a room as we then can have a drink or two. There wasn't any availability but due to a cancellation, Heather on reception called and arranged a room for us. It's been a very difficult year due to various things and when we arrived, Heather informed us we had been fortunate enough to be allocated the bridal suite! This included an upstairs and downstairs, four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and patio area. The views outside were spectacular and we even had a visit from a deer! This meant a great deal to us and the service and welcome from Heather was fantastic. The whole stay from start to finish including restaurant experience was a 10/10,will definitely be back and recommend to anybody needing a relaxing break Steve & Kirsty B…
Hotel in a lovely quiet location with 15 minutes walk into Oulton Broads or slightly longer walk to Beccles. Receptionist was welcoming and the other staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was spacious but could do with a bit of TLC both chairs had tears, nasty patch on the carpet and a horrible squeak when you stepped out of the bathroom. Apart from that we had a delicious meal on our first night stay and good breakfast both morning's, will be back
Enjoyed our Autumn break in this Hotel. The Travelzoo deal was great and our room upgrade was very much appreciated. Lovely location grounds well kept altogether a great stay Food offer is good and staff very well trained
We got married at Ivy House County Hotel on the 09/10/2021 and can’t thank Keith and his team enough for making our day so special. Keith and the team are super friendly, attentive and ensured our day ran smoothly and everyone had a fantastic time! All of the food was excellent and lots of compliments on how lovely the venue and surrounding grounds are. Thank you for making our day everything we had hoped for! Will be back again to visit soon! We have just returned from a two night Travelzoo break and we so pleased to be home, the experience was awful. When we arrived there was a slight pong around the reception area but it wasn't until we arrived at our courtyard room number 4 the smell became overpowering. Couldn't wait to get into the room to get away from the stench. Unfortunately it still lingered there. Went back to reception to complain and they said that the smell comes and goes but they don't know what it is. Reading other reviews it seems it comes from the cesspit and it certainly smelt of faeces. We were moved to another room but only for one night as the hotel was full, but was assured it would probably be gone by the following day......it wasn't!!! So holding our noses we made our way back to number 4, inside they had left a room spray but it didn't really help. During the night it seemed to get even worse and I felt physically ill, I do wonder whether it was what I was inhaling. Room number 3 was equally as bad as the waitress at dinner said they had moved out for the night too. Do not go in either room 3 or 4 in the courtyard. Apart from that the room was tired, drab and dark. Size was ok. Furniture is old and tired and the toilet was really low. Food in the restaurant was nothing to write home about, the Yorkshire with my roast beef was dark brown and burnt and the potatoes tasted like they had been left over from the afternoon carvery. But the staff were friendly and attentive and worked hard. Lady on reception listened to our grievances regarding the room and was sympathetic, but really they should not be letting out those particular courtyard rooms if they know there is a problem.........Travelzoo deal or not!!!!!!…
