At Dalmeny Resort Hotel, guests often commend the friendly service and family-oriented amenities, including a praised swimming pool and diverse dining options. The hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, especially the spotless rooms, though some areas could use more attention. Despite the mix of modern communal spaces and engaging entertainment, certain guests feel the atmosphere falls short and rooms appear dated. The location is generally well-regarded for its proximity to local attractions, but opinions on value and pricing vary, with some guests considering it reasonable and others overpriced.

Stayed here for the last night of the festival . Not a bad stay on the face of it . Easy to find , great off street parking , freindly staff who are very informative and helpful . Unfortunatley there are a few issues which although wouldnt stop me staying again , would make the hotel better . The hotels glass is in desperate need of cleaning , the glass lift , balcony glass , everywhere the glass is filthy which doesnt look good . Our balcony glass was also badly cracked . Wallpaper ripped off walls , thread bare carpets , but the place is very clean apart from the glass .
Breakfast was included , personally didnt think it was great , all cooked well but very cheep products on the full breakfast options . Next time will simply have breaky off site .
Entertainment was in full swing when we came back after the festival which plenty of people were enjoying .
Not a bad hotel just needs some glass cleaner and some elbow grease as a starting point , there is plenty of glass needs cleaning !

This is a great hotel in regards to location, room size, pool and facilities, hence my 4 star review. There are a few reasons why it didn't quite meet 5 stars, starting with reception staff who I feel would benefit from refresher training, eg. If you can't be bothered to ask your guests how their stay was on checkout, then surely that's the bare minimum. The bedrooms were spacious, however, a tad dated. I'm also surprised, when having paid £358 for a two night stay, that there was a £3.50 charge for pancakes at breakfast! Finally, when it comes to what I didn't like, I wasn't impressed with the two poolside staff, who just constantly chatted to each other throughout the 1 hour fun/float time period, on both sessions that I attended with my granddaughter, in my opinion, they should have focused more on safety and professional engagement, surely they are not paid to chat to each other for the full hour. Breakfast time was slightly chaotic, albeit the traffic light guide, kind of gave it away, be prepared to queue. Reading my review at this stage, I'm beginning to question whether 4 stars is too generous, however, my granddaughter did love the pool and the pancakes. I loved the size of the room and that it was spotlessly clean, hot water, fluffy towels, biscuits and the view from the bedroom. Ideal hotel if you have children, maybe not so ideal if you are looking for a chilled stay. Great local facilities nearby, including arcade, cinema, restaurants and shops.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your stay. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our location, spacious rooms, and facilities, and it’s wonderful to know that your granddaughter had a great time in the pool and with the pancakes! We do, however, regret that certain aspects of your experience fell short of expectations. Your comments about our reception team, poolside staff, and the breakfast experience are truly appreciated, and we will address these points as part of our ongoing staff training to ensure we provide a more attentive and seamless experience for our guests. Regarding the additional charge for pancakes, we understand your surprise and will review how this is communicated to avoid confusion in the future. We’re glad that the room’s cleanliness and comfort, as well as the local facilities, helped make your stay enjoyable. We hope to welcome you back for a stay that meets all your expectations next time. Best regards, Dalmeny Resort Hotel Team

This is my second time at the Dalmeny. This year it was just me and my 8 year old son.
We booked the DBB rate for a twin room that could be cancelled up to 48 hrs before if required. When we arrived we were given room 153 which was a large room with double bed, twin beds, sofa and balcony along at the end over the terraced garden rooms. This was a lovely surprise for us. Having all the extra space made the room less chaotic as it sometimes is with a kid and all their stuff in tow.
We have previously stayed in a hotel close by and booked the dalmeny this year as I knew the alacarte menu would suit my fussy eater better. However, on the first night he was sent to a kids buffet, which he wasn’t than enamoured with and complained the chips were cold, plus he was finished before I had finished my starter! I asked the server about the buffet and he told me that the kids menu was available and I had I not been told this when we were shown to our table. I wish I had asked in the first instance now. Anyway the next 2 nights were much better and met our expectations. But I did hear the person showing other families near us to their seat and telling them it was the buffet for the kids - felt like they were trying to push that first which is a shame as the pizza on the kids menu was way better than the pizza on the buffet.
Food was good in the restaurant for me so no issues there.
My son has never been one for joining in the entertainment but the weather wasn’t great so we went to the ballroom and Rocking Rob was on and he was brilliant with all kids and parents. He set the bar high, the next 2 nights weren’t just as good but my son enjoyed them all. Kids entertainment on till ten and be warned it was difficult to drag them away before it finished.
We didn’t join in on crafts, but there seemed to be something for young ones, and we didn’t venture into the kids cinema either but good options for rainy days.
Car parking at the front was nearly always full and I wasn’t attempting the underground car park, but on exploring the hotel we realised there is a rear car park which accessed from the road behind the hotel (along from the Marks and Spencer) and a good few more spaces here with access to the hotel.
We would definitely come back here again, and probably will.

Thank you so much for your lovely and detailed review! We’re thrilled that you and your son enjoyed your second stay with us, and it’s great to hear that the spacious room and balcony were a pleasant surprise, making your stay even more comfortable. We’re sorry to hear about the initial confusion with the kids' buffet, and we appreciate your patience in sorting that out. We’re glad the following nights met your expectations, and we’ll ensure our team communicates all options clearly moving forward. It’s wonderful that your son enjoyed the entertainment, especially Rocking Rob, and that there were plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained despite the weather. We also appreciate your tip about the rear car park, which we hope will help other guests too. Thank you again for choosing Dalmeny Resort Hotel, and we look forward to welcoming you both back for another fun stay in the future! Best regards, Dalmeny Resort Hotel Team

The photos on the website are very encouraging when looking for a hotel in St Ann's on Sea. Unfortunately, the photos are very selective and concentrate on the better areas of the hotel. Sadly, the rooms are not reflective of the impression given. They are cheap, shoddy, sparse and soulless, like 1960s holiday camp chalets. Walls are painted a dull grey, dark carpets, flat pack furniture, Argos beds, horrendous canvass artwork on the walls, probably bought from Poundland, lighting is dull and dim. Completely tasteless. The common areas are tired and dirty and dated, carpets stained, doors badly marked, the hotel was built decades ago and there is no sound proofing between rooms, hence an inordinate amount of noise, above, and adjacent. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel, avoid this one, especially if you are a couple looking for a relaxing break. We did not use the spa facilities as we were worried about the cleanliness based on what we had already experienced. We were wholly disappointed and will definitely not return. It's a weird hotel with a very cold vibe.

3rd time staying at The Dalmeny. Generally a similar experience to previous visits. Check in/out easy and quick with helpful staff.
Room was more modern than previous we’ve had. It still had a few areas in which it requires some TLC (water damage/crack on the ceiling) Room- 205
The main issue with the room was the overwhelming temperate. We had the window open at its widest to little effect.
They should have adjustable Raditor valve on towel dryer in bathroom. This would help exponentially. We forgot to bring our own fan on this occasion but we all still managed to sleep reasonably even with our 4 year and 6 month old children with us.

Improvements since last visit-

We opted for the evening meal included which hadn’t on other occasions.
I wasn’t expecting anything special but to all of our surprises the food was delicious both evenings and the breakfast was the very best buffet style one I’ve had.
A special mention to Aleshia who hosted us both evening. A lovely young lady who was friendly, attentive towards our children and assisted with sterilising our baby’s bottles.
A credit to both your hotel and restaurant.

Once again the kids club staff were fantastic during daily activities and arranged the evening kids entertainment which our 4 year old loved.
A Wi-Fi extender in the downstairs ballroom would be a great addition. They’re only so much plate spinning and balloon making I can do before the boredom kicks in. At least the bar is well stocked and managed.

Thanks all at The Dalmeny. We’ll be back again, I’ll be the guy carrying the cooling fan.

Just returned from a night away at Dalmeny hotel with my family. I think we got really unlucky with the room we were allocated (531), people constantly banging up and down the stairs and music blaring (sounded like an exercise class) through the patio doors at 06:40am!!
I took my daughter into the ‘kid zone’ and the 2 young girls working in there didn’t even acknowledge our existence, it wasn’t a very friendly atmosphere and we lasted 10 minute before I wanted to leave. It was also very odd that there was a parent sat in there with 2 pints. It was a shame as the room was great for kids.
The real highlight of our stay was the swimming pool. We went swimming in the evening and it was a lovely clean and warm pool. Even the changing rooms were really tidy and clean. Towels were also provided and there were noodle floats left out for the children to use.
Overall not sure if we would return, if we did I would definitely be asking for a quieter location in the hotel

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re pleased to hear that the swimming pool was the highlight of your stay and that you found it clean, warm, and well-maintained. It’s wonderful that your family enjoyed the pool facilities, including the thoughtful touches for children. However, we sincerely apologise for the noise disturbance from the room and the less-than-welcoming experience at the Kid Zone. We understand how important a peaceful stay and friendly atmosphere are, especially when traveling with children, and we will address these concerns with our team to ensure improvements are made. Should you decide to return, please don’t hesitate to request a quieter room, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs for a more restful stay. Best regards, Dalmeny Resort Hotel Team

The Dalmeny Hotel is perfectly located, on the seafront at St Anne's on Sea, and is a lovely place to stay. We stayed for two nights, as a family of five, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. Our family room was large, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, with lots of clean towels, and daily replenished coffee & tea making facilities. The activities for the children were excellent, with their evening entertainment a real standout. The musical entertainment for the adults, in the evening, was first class also. The staff were consistently welcoming, friendly and helpful - nothing was any trouble to them. The food was varied, delicious, and well presented, under the expert auspices of Chris, the chef - who is ever so friendly, and engaging. All the facilities at the Dalmeny are, in fact, of the highest order. It's certainly a great place to stay, especially for families, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. We will definitely be returning in the future.

This is our fourth visit to this hotel as a family with our 10 and 2 year old. This is our second time in a family suite as we like the space and having separate spaces is great. On this occasion however we found ourselves down some steep narrow steps which made it so difficult when we have a toddler and pushchair.

We were so disappointed with our room, the windows were all covered so you couldn't see out of them, this was to avoid us seeing what was on the other side (bins and the back of the bar/something similar). The room was basically a corridor so felt really claustrophobic. There was an issue with noise from the bins and an annoying hum. We arrived to one of the children's beds not having a bottom sheet on but a duvet cover thrown over it which wasn't even wide enough to cover the mattress. We only noticed this at bedtime after a long day. On visiting reception they didn't sound confident they could supply one as their housekeepers had probably gone home. We waited an hour and nothing came so I phoned to be told they had written down the wrong room number. It finally arrived but I had to make the bed myself.

The bathroom door didn't close properly. Black marks all over the walls (hand prints). Sofa was so dirty and unsupported I just avoided using it. Huge TV in the lounge area (not really a lounge just a small section of corridor) not child friendly at all, not connected to a wall and could have toppled off so we never felt safe letting our toddler roam.

The pool is good, it has a shallow area that's slightly warmer. The changing rooms could do with some child facilities though, just somewhere safe to put your child so you can get dressed, that isn't the floor. They provide towels which is great.

The arcade has some machines but a couple are broken with no notice so you lose your money.

The evening kids entertainment was truly appalling. Delivered by someone who was absolutely not child friendly, very awkward and it was just painful to watch. Instead of doing any dances with the children he got parents to do it instead. We didn't return after our first night of this which is a shame as this was one of the reasons we had booked this hotel.

Breakfast isn't bad at all, selection of cereals, yoghurt and hot food. As a vegetarian I would love some hot options and better monitoring of people using the same cutlery for meat and veg options.

Overall we don't feel we got what we paid for at almost 1000 for 4 nights the least I expect is the beds to be made and a bathroom door that shuts. The location is great. We always managed to get a parking space but we did see many others bot quite as lucky.

Booked in for one night to celebrate my partner's birthday en-route to a couple of sporting events.

Parking was ample at the front of the hotel and had security cameras on it.

We were given a third floor room with a small balcony (358) which had a little table and chairs and the room was very large with lots of storage. Very spacious even in the bathroom where the shower was a walk in wardrobe size!

However the room had an interconnected door to 357 and perhaps that is why the wall between was so thin - we could hear every word the children and grandparents spoke so assume they could hear us.

Strangely no shower gel is provided just a small vanity size bar of soap on the sink but two little bottles of shampoo and conditioner despite there being a big shower gel pump on the shower wall. We did question reception about why it was empty and was told they don't fill them nowdays just providing the little vanity bar of soap. At £135 a night seems rather stingy to me ......

We had a reservation in the restaurant and found the food to be delicious with quick and friendly service.

We arrived on Monday. Don't know who the gentleman on reception was but Mr Smiley he was not. We knew we couldn't get into our room until 3pm but we were signing in and sorting out car parking. After I had paid for the accommodation I tried to ask him a couple of questions about the hotel but instead of listening he was dealing with the next customer and ignoring me. Made me feel really welcome.

We paid a lot for the room as it had a sea view and balcony but the room was tired, marks on the wall and carpet. The bed was comfortable but the base of the bed had several slashes in it and looked faded and old. Oddly enough although the room was large the wardrobe was next to the bed so there was no bedside cabinet or light at my side of the bed. The balcony was quite small and in need of a jet wash,
.
We chose the Dalmeny as it was on the front with a large car park and near the shops as I can't walk too far. Although it was a family hotel it was billed as suitable for couples for romantic breaks.

We felt that the bed room lacked ambience. and was old and tired.

The meals were ok but romantic measl they were not. Stuffed in a small table for two near the toilets two nights running in the darker part of the restaurant. When we booked I told reception my husband was lactose intolerant. However when it came to desserts he was offered fruit salad in a small lemonade glass or an ice lolly.

We found the Indigo Bar small and very dark and when there was entertainment on Tuesday due to large pillars in the bar a lot of people couldn't even see the entertainment.

One of the worst things was that on Tuesday afternoon when we returned to our room someone had been in whilst we were out and left the door open. We told reception and they said sorry but didn't seem overly concerned about this. Perhaps it happens all the time. On Wednesday our room wasn't cleaned until 4.20pm and the cleaner knocked and asked if we wanted it doing. In view of the cost of the room of course we did but not really so late in the afternoon

So all in all would not recommend this hotel to any couples thinking of staying
