We stayed at Ash Lodge for three days in late October and found the Lodge and the surrounding facilities superb.
The check in is very straightforward from the friendly staff on site and you get a welcome pack on arrival in the lodge with a bottle of Prosecco, chocolates, eggs , tea and coffee which is a nice gesture.
The lodge is fantastic and well equipped from a large hot tub outside and large bath in the bedroom and a sauna in the bathroom .
The Hot tub is the main reason for booking and we took advantage of that but you do need to lower the temperature as it was set at 42c and needed to be turned down to a comfortable 34c , the staff do check the PH levels on the Hot tub every day which is good to know it stays safe to use.
The site itself has a private indoor swimming pool which you get the first 30 minutes free subject to booking then if you need more time then it’s £16 per family per half hour.
There is a small shop on site and a restaurant which do all kings of nice food from full English to pizzas and roast dinner which can to ordered online to pick up or to eat in .
The village is just a couple of minutes walk with two friendly pubs close by which do good food and beer , the shop in the village has closed down now but there is a shop in the next village which isn’t far .
We will definitely come back to the lodges again in the summer for a longer stay.

I have camped here before and it was very good, but this year as I was bringing my wife we decided she and I would book one of the lodges. Two nights under wood rather than canvas! We were in Beach lodge and were very very happy with it. One or two niggles probably due to being a structure made of wood (big logs) that is a few years old, but very very comfortable, very spacious, and very well appointed. Didn't manage the sauna this trip, but did manage the hot tub after letting it cool down a bit. On arrival did have a minor issue with flying ants in the bathroom (to be expected given time of year, country location and spell of dry weather - so really no bother), but reception quickly supplied Raid, and there was already ant powder in the lodge, so unwanted visitors soon resolved.

Lodge was very neat and tidy and had all the cooking bits I needed. Bed was very comfy. The whole lodge was lovely and warm (without any heating turned on) so we had lots of windows open.

Parking immediately outside the lodge.

Couple of tea bags, some coffe pods, milk pods, chocs and Prosecco were our welcome pack. You may want to bring a bit more so you do not have to immediately head to the shop in the reception hut.

Very much hope we can return for a longer stay (we were only there for two nights).

Big improvement in the appearance of the site for 2024; just as it was on our first ever visit in 2008. The hedges are all cut very neatly & it’s a big site, so a big job! The touring caravan pitches and surrounds; both grass and hard standing are all very neatly kept, cut well and thistle free! Huge difference from last year! Just a couple of hard standing pitches we spotted that still have quite a lot of weeds coming through but certainly no thistles over a foot high!
Some rather large holes need filling right outside the reception area which slowed down the process of leaving the site a little.
Thinking there’s been a change of wardens but not certain. Whatever the reason, it was a pleasure to stay.

Arrived here for a 2 night stay in August 2021. Stayed on an electric hook up pitch on the family field, initially we had asked for the adult field but this didn't cause us any issues. It was a bit of a walk to the toilet block but the facilities were super clean and plenty of showers and toilets.

The site is very well maintained and very easy to find off the A1. Staff in reception were more than happy to help with any enquiries. The kids play area and grass area give loads of room for games and each pitch is plenty big enough. We took 2 cars so one had to be parked in the site car park.

We made use of the pool which is hired out at £16 per half hour slot for your group and you get the pool to yourselves, which we thought was great!

There is a £10 charge for a security barrier key but you get this back on departure. Each entrance to the site is via a barrier, even the path to the local village. There is also an onsite cafe which serves food from 8am-8pm and has a good variety.

Def recommend!

We had a 4 night visit booked over Christmas 2023. Due to a short notice surgical operation we were unable to attend.
Yesterday and today (27-28/11/23) I emailed and spoke to the site to try to re-arrange the visit for March 2024, as we had every intention to visit.
We have never encountered an issue with other sites, including through Covid where re-arranging was rife.
In reply we received a curt, one line email saying that they could not transfer the booking to the following year (late 23 to early 24), with no other explanation.
On calling, the female on the phone was curt and talked over me, stating they do not transfer booking deposits from one year to the next and would not help.
The sites T&C's DO NOT state the above, only 'we may be able to rearrange your stay if adequate notice is given and there is availability'. I felt that a month would be adequate notice.
The last line of the T&C's states 'please let us know straight way of any problems, we will do our best to try and help you'.
When I quoted this the person refused to help and stated there was no availability in 2024!
I queried this, to which she reinforced that they wouldn't help and repeated that deposits do not go from one year to the next.
We were not trying to cancel or transfer any deposit, only rebook our stay for when we could travel.
So they've made £20 for pressing a few buttons, but have now lost at least one repeat customer, and the others we won't be recommending the site to.
Luckily, there are other more amenable sites in the area.

Amazing! My husband surprised me with this mini break for my birthday and this is truly the most relaxing, quiet place. We will definitely be making this one if our mini-break locations. 😁
I love quiet time and this place is silent. Equipped with a hot tub, beautiful deep bath and a sauna in the bathroom, it has everything on my wish list. The lodge is very well equipped with a dishwasher, washer/dryer and a fridge and freezer. Very clean.

Our first adventure into the world of motorhome holidays. Hired a motorhome and this was the first site we visited. Very impressed with the quality of facilities at this site, from the toilet/shower facilities, the nice large well set out pitches and the benefit of a swimming pool that is booked for private half hour sessions.

We ate out twice in The Rutland kitchen cafe that is on site. Very nice freshly prepared meals and good friendly service.

The first site has certainly set the bar high for other sites to try and better.

We stayed in Beech Lodge from the 20th July to the 24th July which was for me a disable person using a mobile scooter a DEATH trap. This was booked by our grandson for family event us being 88 and 89 years old, the later being disable. On arrival we were shown around the lodge and all seem fine, we then tried to open the patio doors these were stuck so we were not able to open them we called the reception who sent someone to open the patio doors ,a good kick and this did the trick. When we came to leave and lock up we could not close the patio doors or lock the back door so again we called reception and the man they sent over had to slam the patio doors shut this was not possible for people of our age so the doors were shut unable to open during our stay, as for the back door the key had been broken in the lock it took the man several minutes fiddling with the patio key to look the door so this door remained lock for our stay. This left only the front door and with the ramp fitted for my mobile scooter it was not possible to use it because of the front garden, the ideal place would have been the back door or the patio door but both of these were out of action.
Due to the lodge lay out in the event of a fire in this wooden lodge in the lounge/kitchen area and we were in bed the only exit by a door would be the front door in the lounge as the back and the patio doors were out of action, being disable I would be able climb out of a window so this would be a death trap.
The heating in the lodge was uncontrollable so we had to get them to switch it off.
These matters were known too the reception staff and will be reported to the local council health and safety officer.

The Site is fantastic but a special mention goes to The Rutland Kitchen cafe on the site. If you think Five Guys Burgers are good you wait until you try the The Rutland Kitchen Special Burger! Wow! (And exceptional value for money unlike the aforementioned) Andy cooked the burger and chips to perfection and the Hawaiian Pizza was stone base cooked and superb! This little cafe has an outstanding menu and you can take anything you order away and eat it in the luxury of your Van (or awning) 😊

I visited the site with my dogs in a small motorhome for the weekend, I was allocated a pitch in the Adults section and it was hard standing. The pitches are large with all the usual facilities. The shop was well stocked and the toilet and shower facilities were spotless and very nice, this was the adults only block so I can only comment on that one.
I found the wardens to be really helpful and friendly and had no issues at all, in fact they went out of their way to help me on a couple of occasions.
The dog walk was really nice and easy to access and the walk into the village was very easy, there are two pubs within an easy walk of the site.

Would return and would recommend and next time I'll use the pool.
