Detailed Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyed my solo trip to the Cedars as a base to visit Benmore Botanic Gardens. The property is in a lovely river front location and well worth booking a promenade view so you can sit and enjoy watching the ferries go up and down the Clyde. The room was large, clean and very comfortable with with tea making facilities and hosts Jackie and Ray will give you some fresh milk if you prefer. I messed up my bus times and Ray gave me a lift down to Benmore which I was very grateful for as I would have wasted part of the day or forked out for a taxi at best. So up and above the call of duty service wise. Breakfast was excellent with Stornoway black pudding on the menu which I had as part of a good quality cooked breakfast after a good choice of cereals, muesli, yoghurt etc
Many thanks to Jackie and Ray for such a friendly welcome and enjoyable two nights. Hope to return for another visit to Cowal in the next month or so !

We've just enjoyed a 3-night stay at The Cedars, where the warmth of the welcome from Jackie could not have been better. Our room was clean and comfortable, and well appointed, the breakfasts could not have been better. Jackie went out of her way to give us helpful tips for places to visit and things to do.
The location is excellent, right on the sea front and only 7 mins walk from the centre of town. The views across the Firth on a clear day are wonderful.
There's ample on-street parking available. One stand-out is the attention to cleanliness, hygiene and Covid protection in place, which was very pleasing to see.
When we return to Dunoon, The Cedars will be our automatic choice. There may be cheaper guest houses, but The Cedars is worth it.

Our recent overnight stay here was a lovely experience. Jackie was so welcoming when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble for her. The whole house was spotless and we were happy to see covid rules enforced during our visit. Our room was a good size and was very comfortable with everything we needed. The bathroom was very clean and modern. Breakfast was a treat with Jackie taking time to find out exactly what we wanted to eat, so there was a great choice and it was topped off with her husvands home made marmalade on our toast. Delicious! We would recommend The Cedars and we will definitely stay here again. Oh, and its a great location on the seafront but five minutes walk to town.

The Cedars Guest House is an attractive double-fronted house with pretty front garden, facing the seafront in Dunoon, just a few minutes from the town centre. It’s a ten minute drive from the vehicle ferry at Hunters Quay. There is ample free street car parking outside.
The house is homely and comfortable with pleasant, neutral décor. The host was welcoming and helpful with lots of advice about what to see locally and where to eat. She also helped with a single journey ferry ticket at a good price.
My room was a good size with comfortable bed and attractively decorated and furnished. There was ample space with clothes, a generous hospitality box and strong wifi. The bathroom was small but satisfactory.
Breakfast was good with a decent full Scottish breakfast, plus other options available with notice.
Overall, this was a good place to stay.

Just spent 4 nights at the Cedars B&B. Four of us used it has a base to tour the Argyll area. This B&B is a fantastic secure base(off road parking) for touring this very scenic part of the world. Jacki is brilliant, even preparing a table decoration to celebrate one of our gang’s birthday. Nothing was too much for here.
I will definitely return.

This was our second stay at the Cedars Guest House. Our first stay was in 2019 and when returning to Dunoon for a second visit to this delightful town, we had no second thoughts about staying at the Cedars again. Jackie and Ray are wonderful hosts. Jackie cares about her guests, and goes above and beyond to help ensure that your stay in the area is as best as it can be. Her attention to detail and knowledge is just amazing.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. Nice shower and the view from the rooms overlooking the firth are wonderful. Added to that the comfortable chairs to watch the activity on the firth, one could just be content sitting and observing. However, knowing there is so much to see and do, and knowing that a wonderful breakfast is waiting for you, spurs you on to get going in the morning and take on the day. After a day of seeing the sights, it is nice to relax in those comfortable chairs with a cup of tea and just appreciate your good fortune to have had the opportunity to be in Dunoon at the Cedars.

Due to the pandemic, we decided to risk a week in Dunoon rather than on the overcrowded beaches of South England. We were very lucky as it turned out to be a mostly sunny week. But our pleasure was hugely enhanced by our stay at the Cedars Guest House. Jackie and Ray have been wonderful hosts and fully deserve 5 stars for the care that they provide. Very nice and comfortable room, with a nice sea view, top quality breakfast, extremely kind and helpful hosts, and a wonderful region with many opportunities for hiking and even swimming. A very good plan for one week of 'staycation'.

We had a very pleasant and relaxed one week stay in the apartment behind the guest house and enjoyed the flexibility this offered us. The apartment is compact, very clean and well equipped with everything you are likely to need. The guest house is located at the seafront, with shops and restaurants close by. The owners are very helpful and an excellent source of information and advice on what there is to do in the area. We would happily return.

We recently had an overnight stay in Dunoon and stayed at Cedars guest house. We chose the Guest House because the excellent reviews we read....we were not disappointed. We were welcomed on arrival by Jackie . Our room was very comfortable with a sea view. Breakfast was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.It was Clear throughout our stay that all necessary arrangements were in place due to the current situation and that made us feel very comfortable for our first trip away since lockdown. Thank you both for the warm welcome.

Erika and I found ourselves stranded in Dunoon at 8.00pm on 2nd Sep due to a ferry cancellation. Found The Cedars by chance and we were so grateful to find such a great place at that time of night. We of course had no overnight baggage, but Jackie and Jim welcomed us both in, with an additional offer of a glass of lovely white wine and a great chat. We were also offered toothpaste and brushes for our stay. Slept very well and had a lovely breakfast too and can highly recommend Jackie's unique poached eggs (thanks Jackie). Don't miss this gem of guest house in Dunoon. Thank you very much for looking after us Jim and Jackie. Kind Regards Erika and Allan
