Detailed Reviews
What a great hotel. It is situated in a great location with excellent views of the beach. The hotel building itself is very grand and impressive. It is spotless throughout and the bedroom we stayed in was a good size and very modern. Breakfast was included in our stay and was really good. There was a very good selection to choose from. The staff were all very professional, polite and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here and I would definitely recommend this place. To top it off, it was nice that the parking was free of charge and we could park directly outside the hotel. Great place!

Stayed at the Weston Hotel for 5 nights in August. Parked up very easy at all times - scratchcard and wheel are complimentary from reception and parking is on-street. Greeted at reception and handed key. Stayed in Double room, the room was a very decent size and ensuite. Towels and toiletries provided. We had a non-seafront facing room, but we didn't feel that was an issue as we easily saw the views as soon as we stepped out of the hotel and also at breakfast time.
Shower over bath was powerful and hot.
Breakfast was at agreed times to stagger arrivals. You select what you want from the menu and it's brought over. Breakfast was very tasty and filling every day.
Due to COVID, the restaurant was not open in the evenings which was a shame as it was quite difficult to get food at the decent restaurants in the evenings (either a shortage of staff or being completely booked meant you had to be lucky or hungry).
The rooms were not serviced daily because of COVID issues again, but fresh towels were always available on request along with any teabags / coffees etc. This wasn't an issue for us at all.
It's location is the south side of the town and right near the cliff lift and Scarborough Spa.
All of the staff there were very friendly and helpful at all times. We would happily stay at the Weston the next time we are up in Scarborough.

Last weekend we stayed at the Weston Hotel 2 nights (Fri & Sat) B&B as we had tickets for the Sat night to see Dr Hook concert at Scarborough Spa so decided to take the opportunity to spend some time in Scarborough too.
Lovely warm welcome by Sam in reception, when we arrived. He gave us a carpark pass to leave in our car for the duration of our stay - so free parking pass saved us the worry of meters/parking tickets etc.
Our room on 2nd floor had a fab seaview. It wasn’t the largest room (according to the room plan/firedrill instructions on the back of our door) but it was adequate for us for 2 nights. It had everything we needed… tea/coffee facilities, with complimentary biscuit each, table and 2 chairs, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside tables, and a bathroom with shower (no bath) Toiletries provided by hotel were Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Heated towel rail kept room and our towels lovely and warm.
We used the lift to/from our rooms rather than using the stairs.
With your room key, you are also given a front door key as front entrance door is closed each evening so you can let yourselves back in if you’ve been out late.
Breakfast in the dining room was served to order. Menu and waitress service was super efficient. Orders taken and food served was good quality and nicely presented. I opted for fruit salad and cooked breakfast. Many thanks to Jan and Pat who looked after us at breakfast time both days. And also gave me a jug of milk for tea in my room rather than using the milk pots provided. (The hotel does mention in its room hotel directory that fresh milk is available on request)
This hotel was spotlessly clean. Staff were warm and friendly/very approachable throughout our stay. This is a lovely hotel overlooking the South Cliff Gardens. The pathways and train/vehicular were closed for repairs whilst we were in Scarborough, otherwise this hotel is a few minutes walk away from Scarborough Spa Theatre. Instead we walked the Esplanade coastal road & bridge route to/from Scarborough town centre and Scarborough Spa and beach area.
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a place to stay in Scarborough 👍

This is a gem of a hotel! We just booked several rooms for a family get together for our parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary. We all had the most fantastic time and were very impressed with the beautiful and tasteful renovation of this fabulous hotel. The views of the South Bay were fabulous and everywhere in the hotel was not only immaculately clean but the carpets and walls had no marks or scuffs that you so often see in hotels. We didn't have any issues with noise that a recent reviewer mentions and our family had rooms on all three floors on a Sat night - so cannot agree with that at all! All of the staff were so friendly both in reception and in the breakfast area and couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was sooo nice and fresh - a lovely start to the day in such a light and airey setting. All in all - excellent value for money and wish we could have stayed alot longer. We will definitely be back!

I booked the Weston for my elderly father to have a break from caring for my mother. My father had a thoroughly enjoyable two night stay at the Weston. He felt very covid safe and particularly enjoyed his cooked breakfast. Unfortunately weather wasn't overly great and a sea fret meant my father was a little cold in his room, as the heating was understandably turned off as it was August and he is quite frail and feels the cold easily. This was very swiftly rectified when I mentioned it to a member of staff at the hotel and a heater provided for his room.
Thank you to everyone at the hotel for all your help and support.

After reading the reviews on TA we decided to book in for one night and try a different hotel as we stay over in Scarborough quite a bit. The hotel was spotless throughout and a nice welcome from the owner on arrival. We booked a B&B deal with a sea view room on floor 3. The room was basic but immaculate, we found the mattress was a bit firm but this would not put us off booking again. Breakfast was served including cereal, juices etc. The breakfast was really nice and served by friendly and well presented staff unlike a larger spa hotel in town!! Parking outside the hotel was easy and we had a parking disc from the hotel. Looking forward to returning sometime.

The Weston is located on the quiet Esplanade with excellent views to the left over South Bay. My wife and I had a room on the top floor which was warm through the night even in September. However, we were able to sleep with the window open with no outside noise apart from the soothing sound of sea waves. It is a good 20-minute walk into town, but buses run along Filey Road which runs parallel to the Esplanade a few minutes' walk away behind the hotel. (The number 7 and 10 buses go to Westborough in the town center.) Reception staff Vanessa and Sam and hotel owner Pat were very helpful and dining room staff friendly. Plentiful breakfasts were cooked to order. Rooms are only serviced on request due to Covid restrictions, but tea tray supplies can be picked up adjacent to Reception. I can recommend the Italian restaurant Tuscany Too about 5 minutes' walk away down to the end of Esplanade Road, which is adjacent to the hotel, but booking is essential. In town there is a Brewers Fayre (Carousel) and a Wetherspoons together with several restaurants. I can recommend the Harbour Cafe for a lunch bite.

We had a few problems here., the lift was broken which meant we had to walk up several flights of steps to our top floor room. The shower did work properly, which we were told was due to air in the pipes and our room being at the extreme end, but frankly it was just a cheap substandard shower ( they said they are planning to replace) and the breakfast was deeply ordinary. On the plus side, room v clean, lovely view, comfy beds, no traffic noise - we slept with the window open listening to the sea and the gulls. There’s an in- house bar at reasonable prices, and the staff were lovely. I would go back, but I’d be more careful about room choice, better on the lower floors until the lift is fixed and shower replaced.

We arrived on a Sunday and were checked in by a lovely lady who even came to our car to help with our luggage. We had booked a second floor sea view room but were upgraded to a first floor bay windowed room which was brilliant and I will definitely book one of these next time we stay here. A king sized bed was in the centre of the room there is plenty of storage and plug sockets in all the right places with 2 very comfortable chairs in the bay offering unrestricted views of the sea, a lovely bathroom with the longest bath I’ve ever seen. Tea coffee hot chocolate and biscuits are provided with plenty of sugar and milk. We enjoyed a delicious Sirloin of beef Sunday lunch with plenty of roast and seasonal vegetables, the breakfast was also of a very high quality freshly cooked and served piping hot. We had drinks in the bar on both evenings and the staff were very friendly and shared a lot of knowledge of Scarborough with us. It was our first visit to this hotel and definitely won’t be the last it’s in a superb position in a quiet area of the town but within easy access to the seafront and town centre. There’s a disc system for free parking just outside the hotel with plenty of spaces just don’t park under a lamppost or the seagulls will leave a present on top of your car. Well done to everyone you all know what hospitality is all about.

This was our second visit to this hotel, regrettably it will be our last. My main point was that we genuinely did not feel welcome, it was almost as if we were an inconvenience and It made us feel uncomfortable. I know these are extremely trying times for everyone however at all the other restaurants and pubs in Scarborough we were welcomed with open arms, in fact they could not do enough for us.
The first time we stayed we had a sea view room with a bay window. The second time we stayed this room wasn’t available but we still had a sea view, the room was very small in comparison and certainly didn’t have the same wow factor. The pillows were so hard, I actually went to reception to ask if they had any softer ones, they did bring some more but they were exactly the same. They are the old style sash windows in this hotel and due to the adverse weather, rattled terribly, I had to push a flannel in the gap to try and stop it.
The breakfast was lovely and the service here was very good.
On this visit and our previous one, the check out was 11am, however on both occasions house keeping attempted to gain access to the room at just gone 10am...I have never encountered this before and I find it extremely unprofessional, it’s not difficult to find out who has handed their keys back to check out.
I felt the owner really didn’t want to be open, in which case perhaps they should re-think their situation. We came away to relax due our own very stressful situation unfortunately this could not be achieved at this hotel.

Response from Hugh Hendry, Owner at Weston Hotel
Responded 30 Sept 2020
Dear Zoe187067 many thanks for posting a review on TripAdvisor I appreciate the effort, but let’s be truthful with each other, you are really irritated because I would not listen to your partners unsolicited political view. Late afternoon on your second day with us you both gave me a hearty hello to which I responded in kind. As you were not wearing face masks, I recognised you and said it was terrific to see you again and asked if you were enjoying your stay this time round. In response both of you gave me an enthusiastic “yes we are”. I did not mention that you should have had a face covering on and apologise to the broader public for that. Your husband asked me how my business was, and I said it had been and continues to be a very challenging time, nothing more, nothing less. He then proceeded to sound off his political dogma as to why Covid-19 is a sham, with him quoting various statistics which in his opinion demonstrate fake news and that everyone had to forget about it and get on with living. I quietly and respectfully told him that everyone is entitled to their opinion and that I did not wish to discuss the matter any further. How on earth do you know what I want to do with my business as I did not discuss it with either of you. For the benefit of the wider TripAdvisor community the Weston Hotel experienced almost 100% occupancy in August and the first 3 weeks of September, in other words we welcomed our customers old and new with open arms albeit socially distanced. I am truly sorry that you experienced a rattling window on a very windy night, that the pillows were not to your liking and that the maid disturbed you on both this and your previous visit. In May 2018, when you gave us the full 5 marks, you stayed in one of our premier rooms and paid for the privilege, the room you stayed in this time, while in very good order, is indeed smaller which is reflected in the price paid. Thanks again for your appraisal particularly as it has given me the opportunity to present my side of the truth.

Access is via a few steps but once inside there is a lift available to floors above the ground floor. Parking is on the street with a permit from The Weston. I have mobility issues but didn't find access too troublesome. Worth the extra bit of effort, good value, lovely staff and the Sea View rooms were great.
Hi Sarah. I would say it would take about 40 minutes to walk from The Weston to the Open Air. Theatre. When my wife and i were there for a concert in 2017, we stayed opposite Peasholm park which is only 5 minutes walk away from the theatre.
Annie, apologies for a slightly delayed response. Disabled access is available at the hotel and our corridors, lift and room doorways can accommodate wheelchairs. A number of our bedrooms have walk in showers (small step) with fitted grab rails, although it is not possible to take a wheelchair into the shower enclosure itself.
Apologies for oversymplyfing my answer slightly. Should you require any further information please get in touch with our reception team who would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Kind regards,
Tom Hendry
Hi I think they have all rooms ready by 2.00pm but if you arrive earlier you can book in and get your parking permit and wander in to Scarborough. If your room is ready before 2 they will let you check in and use your room. There is a bar and you can get a spot of lunch too if you arrive around lunch time.
