This is a hotel that needs a lot of love and money spent on it. Stayed here whilst walking Hadrians wall. No bedside table on my side of bed and the 2 spare pillows in the wardrobe did not have pillowcases on . The restaurant was closed in the evening. Carpets are very worn and in some places a trip hazard. Hotels are not having the easiest of times at the moment . On a more positive note the breakfast was very good indeed and the hotel is very conveniently located for the railway station . There is an excellent Italian restaurant just around the corner .

This hotel portrays itself as something completely different on its website. The whole place bore no resemblance to the advertising. Totally misleading. The entrance and stairways are worn and dirty. The hand sanitisers dotted around didn't work. The room was totally different from what was expected and was in an unacceptable state of disrepair. Trading standards would have a field day with this hotel. Constant sound of the extractor fan at the pizza place next door all night. The floors throughout were uneven and creaked so badly we were woken up by the people upstairs using the toilet. There were burn holes in the net curtains and on the windowsill. The bathroom sink was cracked and there were 2 part used toilet rolls left on the toilet. More like a £20 a night motel than an £80+ hotel The only good thing about this disappointment calling itself a hotel was that it was a stones throw from the railway station and central to Carlisle. Would give it 0 stars if I could.

The overall stay was absolute amazing! The rooms are massive. Staff so friendly! Especially the night receptionist (think his name is Tommy) always said if we need anything to come down. Spoke to us like we were friends, made jokes and laughed. Genuinely a lovely guy to come across! Couldn’t fault anything! Will definitely be back at this hotel!

We stayed here for 2 nights with a 3rd one booked for 7 days later. The reception and staff were friendly during our stay and that is what the 2 stars are for. The room was a typical hotel type room but the cleanliness of the room was not great, the bathroom had dirt on the floor that had been there for months( minimum), the bath had no plug, nor could it be used, as the shower attachment did not allow for the water to flow into the bath. We were on the second floor and at 05:45am we could hear staff talking outside about guests( not pleasant) and they did not talk quietly, this also happened the second morning but for not so long. The first morning for breakfast the bread for toast was mouldy( staff did change and was embarrassed). There seemed to be no regard for Covid-19 safety measures…..anyone could helped themselves to the buffet breakfast,e.g handling the ladels and lids and drinks facilities. We cancelled our third night and booked somewhere else. This place may have been grand back in the day, but it certainly needs a kick up the backside (and investment) to bring it back up to standard.
