A beautiful victorian hotel located just off the seafront with views over Eastbourne Pier and Carpet Gardens. Only a two minute walk from the town centre and a 14 minute walk from the train station. We have a large selection of beers and local ale.

Just returned from the Afton after a 5 day tour with Majestic coaches. The hotel is a little dated but the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The food was very nice. Entertainment every evening. For the price we paid it was excellent value. Will define return as location was great opposite the pier and not far from the centre.

I received a very cheap last minute deal for an overnight stay with a doggy. £25 extra for the doggy which is quite expensive when a stay in a higher star hotel the following night was only £10. Hotel is very tired, it needs an update in the bedrooms and the smell in the hall was very musty. Sadly the shower was more of a trickle. The bar area seemed fine and can’t comment on food as it wasn’t being served. The bed also had springs which dug in so wasn’t a comfortable night stay. But as say for price of room I didn’t expect much. But the price of the dog made the room more expensive and I never understand why the dog friendly rooms are on the high floors as much wiser to be on lower floors but there we go. All in all if you get a cheap deal and are not bothered by a budget room then go for it but if it is at the higher end price wise I would recommend a stay elsewhere unless the hotel updates rooms. Also no air-con so stupidly hot in room.

Room Tip: Maybe other rooms are better as they had more window space etc.

This Hotel is under rated at two star. Deserves more! Big thankyou to the staff who really try really try to make for a pleasant atmosphere. The food is homely & well cooked/presented. Entertainment each evening provided - most enjoyable. Clean rooms, daily towels, plenty of hot water provided in this very dated Hotel setting. Management on the ball - seen helping at breakfast on a daily basis + still in reception late evening. Lastly then - you will receive a friendly welcome trusting you will return again! Should Coach Company Dunwoods do so we will gladly join the party!

Awesome location right behind the pier offering everything you could want for an authentic, British, Victorian, seaside stay experience. The bar is good and cheap with entertainment and friendly staff. Thanks.

The hallway was from the sixties The bathroom was a disgrace The windows were filthy The shower fixture was broken so you had to hand hold it The water power of the shower was no more than a trickle The beds were narrow with uncomfortable mattresses
