My family and I stayed for 2 nights at the hotel and we cannot praise it enough. The location is very central, with a short walk to Karl Johans gate, the harbour and also around a 10 min walk to the train and bus stations. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the rooms were finished to a very high standard and felt cosy and warming, especially during the winter and stormy rains that came! My son also said it's probably one of the most comfy beds he has ever slept in. Also, the breakfast spread was incredible, which included local specialities such as Norweigan Brown Cheese. There is also a small complimentary dinner available to hotel guests, which is a lovely touch! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is coming for a break in the city.

excellent location within walking distance to main Oslo sights
Clean adn adequate room though on the small size especially during a winter stay with tight storage for winter jackets , boot etc.
Bed comfortable but pillows not at all comfortable for my personal preference ..too high and spongy. Asked as reception if any alternative available, aid they would check with housekeeping but no alternative ended up being offered.
Breakfast excellent
Light complimentary evening meal adequate if happy to have soup, salad bread cold meat, tea coffee water.
We would stay again but remember room size for standard room is tight.

The hotel was absolutely fabulous! The design is typical scandi, superbly decorated. The hotel is spotless, filtered water and nespresso coffee offered to all in the lounge, and the breakfast is off the charts (just about everything from homemade smoothies, jams, cold cuts, omelettes etc..)

We booked several nights here to enjoy exploring Oslo after a Viking cruise concluded in Bergen. Our first night was a bit rough because we were given a room across the street from a popular bar where the patrons celebrated until 3am....so our sleep was compromised. The hotel staff graciously moved us to the other side of the building where we have true peace and quiet (if you don't count the seagulls!) and we slept very well. The breakfasts here are vast with more choice than most, including seasonally ripe fruit, fresh pastry, eggs with various breakfast meats choices and fresh-squeeze orange juice. Service is excellent in the restaurant, and so is the housekeeping. The location is perfect for walkabouts throughout the city, from the palace to the harbor, from parks to museums. We would definitely stay here again.

Booked a business room for a two-night stay. Wrote a small request regarding a hope for best possible room, as this was a weekend just for the two of us without the toddlers.
The check in was flawless, parked the car right ouside the entrance, and it was handled by the valet parking service. Got a perfect room on the eight floor, mini suite with a balcony, facing the courthouse building. The room had everything we needed, two tv, coffemaker, nespressomachine, minibar, Bose bluetooth speaker etc. They left a handwritten note to us regarding our request, and wished us a good weekend as a couple, and as their guests. Nice touch! The breakfast was perfect, with enough selections of most things. I have only really nice things to comment in this, from the start to finnish, and all honours to the staff, especially at the front desk. This is truly the art of hospitality :-) We will surely visit again.

Thon Rosenkrantz is one of my favourite hotels in the world.
I come here every year and the client service is just fabulous. From the minute I walk through the door to when I check out, nothing is too much trouble.
This year, I arrived too late for dinner anywhere and they kindly brought some a platter of cheese, ham and bread and a pasta salad to my room with fresh fruit and soft drink - just perfect!
The bed is so comfy and the bedding so soft and luxurious - the shower is fab too!
I would struggle to find a better hotel in all of Norway, not just Oslo.

Enjoyed everything about this hotel - comfortable & colourful modern room (not huge so perhaps think about paying for more space if you can afford it); central location; helpful staff etc. The highlight for us was the scrumptious and beautifully presented breakfast...fresh local produce reflecting both traditional and modern Scandinavian foods as well as the usual Brit/US style breakfast if you prefer more of that. We liked trying some of the more unusual things (for us with Anglo heritage) on offer...cured redfish; various pates; freshly baked breads; homemade beans and even reindeer meat (which I didn’t try but my husband did). Will attach photos later. Many thanks to all the staff...particularly the chef and the kitchen staff.

All in all a great hotel, but recently they change the included dinner from a cooked meal to just a soup (though there are a few additional choices, mixed salad, pasta with pesto, bread with cheese and ham). But if you stay here often and for longer periods it gets very boring with only soup as the main meal. The dinner was easy and comforting, which was the main reason i stayed here, I will be booking a cheaper hotel and eating out or finding a hotel with a better dinner included from now on.

This hotel was really super! I had asked ahead of time for a quiet room away from the street based on a comment I read on Trip Advisor. The room was quiet. The bed was comfortable. It was a little warm. I asked how to turn down the a/c but it never cooled much so I asked for a fan and that worked just fine to cool the room for sleeping. The shower was hot and had great water pressure. The bathroom sink was incredibly small and didn't stop up. I needed to do some hand laundry so they were able to provide me with a small bucket and I filled it in the shower and washed out a few items with fine laundry soap that I always take for travel. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful when we had questions about anything. The breakfast was truly fantastic! They had an incredible variety of foods to offer. Everything was well-displayed, clean and inviting. Breakfast room staff were always pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious. The hotel is in a good location. We took the Flytoget from the airport to National Theatre stop. From there it was an easy few minutes walk. A map and directions was provided by the hotel. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby and a short walk down to the water/dock area. The tram stops in front of the hotel. We'd definitely stay at Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz again!

All I can say is that all the excellent reviews of this hotel were right on the money! The desk staff were very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. The included breakfast is FABULOUS!!! The room was spacious by European standards and very modern. The light evening meal, that was also included, was very well done (ham sandwiches, penne pasta in a pesto sauce, delicious all-natural soup, breads, fruits, and smoothies. The hotel is very centrally located and easy access to transit or walking to shopping, the palace, etc. I would absolutely stay here again and would strongly recommend/encourage anyone visiting Oslo to stay here!

We only had a standalone shower, with no bath tub, but email the hotel in advance of your stay and I’m sure they’ll do all they can to accommodate any special requests. The staff were great!
At the time we stayed, they didn't have twin rooms. The bed we had was quite wide and you're given separate single duvets. I would be quite happy to share with a friend as I love the hotel.
It’ll depend on who you book through and the type of rate you choose. They have both flexible/refundable/pay later rates and pay in advance/no refund rates. I booked direct with hotel and joined their membership scheme as it worked out best rate at the time. I had non refundable flights so booked non refundable hotel rate to suit.
