Beautiful hotel with stately reception rooms, snug lounges and books everywhere, the dinner was excellent and there is an extensive and impressive wine list. Breakfast buffet is included and this has to be experienced to be believed!!! The buffet extends over three rooms and is delicious. The chefs are very good with allegies/dietary requirements, rooms very comfortable and the location is second to none.

Wonderful hotel in a great area. You can’t get much better than this. Lovely rooms with exceptional beds. Breakfast is a delight. Staff so friendly and helpful. Eat at the Grill or at the lounge restaurant. For us tea drinkers a kettle and bigger cups in the bedroom would be good.

We found that the experience of staying here was disappointing. Residents are not well catered for. There are no areas where a family group can congregate. The bar area is extremely popular so you have to queue with walk-ins off the street to maybe get a seat if you’re lucky. Big groups staying here would struggle. They won’t accept room charges - it’s pay as you go. At this level of room rate a hotel should feel like a home from home but this one definitely does not.

My husband and I stayed here and loved it. Comfortable room, great amenities. Heated bathroom floor. The included breakfast is to die for. Extra warm blankets for cold winter nights. Quiet rooms, near many major attractions. Would recommend to friends and family.

I come to Oslo frequently for business and usually stay at Radisson hotels in the city. This year I tried some Thon hotels including hotel Bristol after reading excellent reviews on them. It was nice to see smiling and cheerful reception staff on arrival (easy check in and out). The room I had in Hotel Bristol was clean with a comfortable bed and nice shower, but was rather cold, and there were no robes/slippers in the room. There were only two lifts that were quite small and old (ended up using stairs to the 5th floor most of the time). Some staff at breakfast were unfriendly. The sitting area for breakfast was very small for a hotel with 250+ rooms (the only area allowed to sit was the small room where hot food was served... the entire sitting area had only about a dozen table…

This hotel is a real gem and we had a wonderful three night stay. The decor is luxurious and the hotel is clean and comfortable. Our double room was a decent size, as was the bathroom. The location is great for visiting the sights as well as for accessing trams, trains and buses to go further afield. As others have mentioned, the breakfast is a real highlight, with the greatest selection of food I have ever seen for a hotel breakfast. Both in the room and in the lift, information was given about when the busier times for breakfast are; we went at quieter times and never had to queue.

The receptionist at breakfast made all guests to sit in a small room right next to the kitchen area with food stalls, in the middle of the breakfast restaurant. One word to describe the breakfast experience in the packed dark room with queues to get food was "chaotic" - just like a busy airport lounge at a peak time. It may provide a small operational efficiency to the staff working in the restaurant (they need to walk less) but It's pity to receive such a 'cattle class' service while the quality of food was good. The hotel probably does not understand that some guests want to sit away from the food stalls to enjoy a calm breakfast. Other Thon hotels in Oslo like Rosenkrantz and Opera had inferior food quality and selections but at least had very cheerful staff welcoming guests…
