The Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo, garners mixed reviews, with many guests appreciating its prime location near key attractions and transport hubs. While the rooms are often described as spacious, opinions about their decor and cleanliness vary, and some visitors have encountered issues with housekeeping. The atmosphere strikes a balance between modern and dated, and the noise level can be a concern for some. Service quality and amenities receive both accolades and criticisms, with particular disappointment noted regarding the perceived value for the cost.

We chose Radisson Blu Scandinavia as our arrival and departure hotel in Oslo before and after a trip in the fjords. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect from a 4* large operation but we found it interestingly affordable in comparison to some other stays during our trip. The rooms were perfectly tidy and the amenities were in good standing (enjoyed the pool in the morning and the breakfast area was compliant with all best practice to prevent Covid that I have witnessed over the past few months). The hotel is within walking distance from the central station and ideally positioned in town, nearby the main shopping street and a scooter ride away from the pier and its many restaurants and bars. Speaking of which, the hotel has one of the city’s nicest views from the summit bar (closes a bit early for our standard but that’s something we got used to throughout the trip). To be highlighted that the staff was particularly helpful, with a can-do attitude that made our experience that little more special. Our special thanks to Nadja at reception who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

If you are visiting during the summer or hot days REFUSE any upper rooms ending with numbers 19 to 23. Had a superior room with city view on 16th floor and the room was a sauna! Called management, they sent someone, inviting us to use the table fan provided in the room. Useless. There is no true air conditioning, only a vent barely pushing cool air from the wall. And to top it off, the heating floor in the bathroom is heating so much you can’t brush your teeth without sweating! Had to keep curtain closed at all time to avoid extensive exposure of the room to the sun, so impossible to enjoy city view. How hot? Clients in Room 1619 slept with their door open (with a shoe) at night so as to benefit from the cold air in the corridor where the air conditioning worked very fine. Beside that, hotel well located, near the Palace, excellent breakfast served (hot and cold), interior pool of a good size with a deep and a shallow side. A big plus: FLYBUSSEN (a commercial shuttle bus to the airport) has a stop right in front of the hotel.

Very good hotel only a 30-min walk from the train/bus stations. Has excellent views of the city from every angle and the rooftop hotel bar was as stunning, if not better than the pictures on the sight. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the room we had was very spacious with a nice tub and non-carpeted floors (though there are carpeted rooms if you like that). There are also some very good restaurant options right around the hotel.

Booked this for my Wife and I’s first anniversary weekend. First off the staff are incredible. From the offset the welcome we received couldn’t have been better, they upgraded our room due to it being our anniversary and the views we had over the city were incredible, as the hotel is slightly up hill from the city and it being one of the tallest, the views are incredible. We still have one night left but I couldn’t wait till I got home to make the review.
The rooms are superb and the bed is the best I have ever slept in. It’s so comfortable!
The added bonus of the Summit bar at the top of the hotel is a real bonus. Make sure you time it right for the sun set, reception prompted us on arrival so if you’re not sure then ask.
The breakfast was also fantastic, so much choice and one of the most comprehensive buffets I have ever had the pleasure of.
Very convenient in terms of location, 10 min walk from the train station from the airport and a tram stop just at the back. When I come back to Oslo I will be sure to book here again.
Thanks so so much for contributing to an incredible weekend

Yes, the location is great and the breakfast is excellent, but the rooms are not optimal and certainly not worth the price. My room, on the western side of the building, received afternoon sun and became quite hot. There is no A/C, only an "air handling" system and mine was broken. The fan element of the system did not move any air, let alone cool it. I asked to be moved to a different room, but the young male at Reception told me that the hotel was fully booked. That may have been true, but only 10 minutes earlier (I reminded him) he had been asking me what sort of room I wanted (bed size), so clearly there were other rooms available. I said that I'd prefer one on the east side of the building, which would be cooler, regardless of bed size. He said that he had no way of knowing where the rooms in the hotel were located, so any other room that he might offer would just be "a wild guess" as to location. I returned to my floor (16th) and made note of which room numbers were located on which side of the building (1603, 1605, etc.), then returned to Reception, where the young male offered to move me to room 1501. I visited room 1501, which looked to the north and was cooler, but also darker -- with a depressing view of duct-work, so I chose to stay in my overheated room. He did give me a fan, but he did not offer to have anyone from maintenance check the "air handling" system. As for cleanliness, someone appeared to have pushed a mop through the middle of the room, so that dirt and debris gathered along the baseboards, under the desk, etc. The phone, which I used to try to call Reception about the heat, was filthy. The hotel boasts "panoramic" views, but those seem only to be from the rooftop bar, not from individual guestrooms. The rooms on the eastern side of the building have views toward the water, by the way, which may be why the young male did not want to give me one; they may have cost more than the price that I received via a large booking website. (The women who worked at Reception seemed to have much more polite interactions with guests than this kid did with me.) Lastly, the FlyBuss stops immediately in front of the hotel, making a return trip to the airport very easy and cheap. That trip probably was the best part of my stay at this Radisson.

If you’re visiting Norway, Oslo I would highly recommend this hotel

From the day I walked in, my check in was friendly. quick and very insightful. Not just about what the hotel has to offer and what time the amenities run, Ramon was always happy to help with anything.

My room was on the 13th floor and my view over the city and fjord was breathtaking, make sure you pay to upgrade for this, or atleast request it. The room was spacious, modern, comfortable and even though it was -5 degrees most nights, it was a very warm room, most likely down to the reason I was on a high floor and when it’s sunny the room got the sun all day through the panoramic window.

The restaurant was open some days and offered a small but very tasty menu, The Norwegian breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious, and you can sit and watch all the trams as the locals scramble around first thing. The staff worked hard to keep a busy breakfast shift topped up and running smoothly.

The swimming pool was awesome, nice feel to the place, always quiet, most likely down to the reason I swam late at night because my days were so busy.

The only negatives I can pick out is that it’s a very pricey hotel, as you will find everything is in Norway, but that’s all I can think of

Finally a quick few tips for Oslo and getting around.

Buy a 7 day Transport pass using the Ruter app, you can easily get around using the Metros, the nearest station being 5 mins, Nationalthearet. Included in the pass is the local trains (in the Oslo zones) to and from the airport, about 30 mins away, so saves paying too much.
would also definitely say to visit a few places outside of Oslo if you can, it is an absolutely amazing country with spectacular views and scenery.

Yeah, this hotel is brilliant by all means and Norway is waiting for you. 🇳🇴

When I travel by myself, I always try to stay at radisson network hotel.

This one in Oslo is not exception.

Good location, nice room and very good breakfast. Very close to railway station, harbour and several museums.

There is a shuttle bus to airport that stop in front of main enter and special price for hotel guests.

So disappointing. I had such high expectations for celebrating our anniversary and it was an awful experience. This hotel doesn’t personalize your stay. You feel like you’re just another guest.
room 1909 (premium room with fjord view) was really small for a premium, extremely dark, two light bulbs were not working and the room temperature was way too high which meant we couldn't sleep for two nights as we were struggling to breathe.
the room was not cleaned from one night to the other, they did not change the used coffee and water cups, some leaves were on our room and were not vacuumed, the bed was not made properly (they just pulled the covers up and that's it). this was our anniversary and not even a card was left on our room to wish us a good time during our stay, nothing at all. the feeling of being welcomed in a personalized manner was completely absent here and these things make a total difference when compared to other hotel chains. the breakfast hostess was treating female guests worst than male guests which was really strange. she clearly lacks professionalism. the coffee available at the breakfast room is tastes horribly. I do not recommend buying breakfast there at all.
the hotel restaurant is closed permanently although it's says on google it's open. they do not have room service and absolutely no room menu to order food which is a big fail for such a reputable hotel chain.
we will never stay there again. we regret very much having booked our stay here for our anniversary!

Stay was 4 nights in August 2023.
First room was covered in dust, every surface was dusty, when you walked into the room and looked up at the bottom of the ventilation unit (where the intake vent was located), you could see caked on dust/grime which showed it had not been cleaned in months. Checked the bed, found brown and red stains on the mattress, and stains on the side of the mattress, as well as some plastic wrapper in the sheets.

Was moved to an "upgraded/newly renovated room" on the 20th floor. Since it was so late, I just did a cursory inspection, and went to sleep.
This room happened to be under a stairwell on the 21st floor, so there were some noise issues until the bar closed at 1AM (high heels walking up and down stairs).
In the morning, I woke up opened the curtains to find lots of fingerprints, grease marks, and old french fries in the window sill! Disgusting.
Called to get a room change and the service manager promised that they would send housekeeping to do a extra thorough clean.

Moved to another room, which also had stains on the side of the mattress, as well as stains on the windows (hand prints, grease, toothpaste/spit from a previous guest brushing their teeth while standing at the window and mirrors), telephone had food stains and dust as well, and the same problem of the ventilation unit showing signs of not being cleaned in months.

The cleanliness issue was just widespread it seems. Any hotel charging 200+ euros a night should have higher standards for cleaning, especially high touch areas and things like windows and phones.

In the fourth room, which was cleaner than the other ones, at least there were no stains on the mattresses. I just resigned myself to try to ignore the issues.

When I was on the phone with the weekend manager, they explained that part of the hotel is not being used, so some rooms are not ready for occupancy. Also, the full cleaning staff was not in on the weekends. When I reported the third dirty room, she mentioned "I see here that the previous manager has already upgraded you to a higher category, So I don't know what you want." and I had to laugh and say: "Is it really an upgrade if the higher category room is dirty, and I have to move multiple times?"
She responded that I would have to speak with the manager on Monday.
You would think that a 4 star chain would be able to find a clean room right away, and if not offer some kind of compensation in partial refund, vouchers, points. Barely an apology.
