Clarion Hotel The Hub offers a modern and stylish retreat right in the heart of the city, appreciated for its excellent location and cleanliness. However, some guests feel the value is diminished due to the small room sizes, noise, and occasional service hiccups. The rooms, while cozy with comfortable beds, are often criticized for their size and design. Service experiences vary, ranging from commendable to disappointing. The hotel's amenities, including a praised breakfast buffet and modern tech, add to its appeal, although some visitors have noted SPA maintenance issues.

We were only in Oslo for a night, but I wish we could have stayed longer. It is an excellent hotel in the perfect central location. We had access to the metro and the tram, shopping and restaurants and the main central station for our train. The rooms were very nice, probably the nicest of our five hotels on this trip. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I return to Oslo. As a mother-daughter traveling alone, I felt safe in this area and in all of Oslo. The hotel staff were helpful and the breakfast spread was huge!

When we checked in, there was a bit of a line, but it looked like it was possible to do it by self-service and we opted for this option. The automated check in was fast and we got room 1032. The hotel has been through renovation in the last few years and the lobby is modern with a lobby bar, seats and a fun display around the elevators. The hotel is quite big (800 rooms) and it was a bit of a walk from the lift to the room.

When entering the room, it appeared a bit dim due to the lighting but it was modern and the layout was quite traditional. Wooden floors, light walls and a room that was dominated by the bed. The room is not that big but with a good layout, it was big enough. Apart from the bed there was a comfortable chair with a stool, a thin wardrobe that included an iron and ironing board (excellent) and a furniture under the big TV that included a small fridge with contents (a coke was 59 NOK/7 USD, beer 89 NOK/10 USD and even a small champagne for 499 NOK/56 USD). It is great that they have a fridge with some drinks, but the prices are high. A small bottle of red wine was 299 NOK/34 USD. There was also a small safe in this furniture and that is always a great feature. In addition to this there was also a Nespresso machine with 4 coffee capsules but there was no water boiler as far as I can remember.

Bathroom was also modern with grey tiles with a shower corner. There were not many amenities apart from shower gel and shampoo from dispensers which is a pretty standard feature these days. The shower corner had just one glass wall so there was a bit of splashing on the floor.

Breakfast was served at the restaurant on the second floor and the place was huge. I was impressed by the buffet as it features fresh bread, eggs, bacon, fruits, cereals and oats with good choice of seed toppings etc.

Location of the hotel is great! It only takes a couple of minutes to walk to Oslo central station and Karl Johan (main street of Oslo). It is also a minute to Jernbanetorget tram station so getting around is very easy! My conclusion is that this is almost as good as it gets for Norwegian hotels and I will probably stay here again on coming trips to Oslo.

Stayed 3 nights. State of the art hotel. Emphasis on a green environment.
Lobby: beautiful, artistic , spacious
Elevators : liked the futuristic approach
Room: modernised decors , with sensors everywhere, with mini bar , huge interactive flat screen Tv , comfortable beds, functional , well lighted BUT no provision for bedroom slippers .. place was kind of warm you can’t open the windows to let cool air come in
Bathroom: spacious , with light sensors , BUT no bath tub or bidet ; dispensers for hand wash , shampoo , body wash available, BUT no provision for dental kits
Health facilities: ground basement level provides a swimming pool , a gym was available but didn’t actually see it
Location: centrally placed , just go out of the hotel there are trains , buses , and taxis made available. Convenience stores and even a McDonalds just a 2-3 minute walk. 2 shopping malls outside, and just a 2 minute walk to the Karl Johann gate which has a plethora of shops and restaurants. Tourist attractions can be reached with a casual 10-20 minute walk.
WiFi : free , fast , stable that you don’t need a password for access
Breakfast: buffet of western and European kind. Extensive selection. Delicious choices . Nordic specialities are included . Loved that they have a huge dedicated floor for just breakfast.
Staff service : less encounter but they seem really nice
Worth noting : they doesn’t seem to have a dedicated concierge or bell staff , so DON’T expect help with your luggage . Tap water is drinkable so that’s a big convenience in itself . Card keys don’t have hotel logos , so I can’t have one for my collection.
To sum it up , location and breakfast are the biggest assets. And it is really just a fantastic hotel. Also, they have ice machines stationed on the elevator floors . Nice touch .

We paid to visit the pool and relax facilities.
That was a mistake. There is only one small dirty pool with a current so strong that you are pushed in cirkle around the pool.
Only one sauna was avaiable, the experience-shower did not work and the ice-shower throws ice cold water all over the room.
The small dressingrooms have doors right out where everybody walks, with no obstructions for the view into the place you get dressed.

No thanks, this was a big dissapointment!

I booked my hotelroom recently through hotels.com, where the receipt said that the room would be cleaned daily. Upon arrival I was informed by the staff that our room would not be cleaned during our 4 day stay, the towels would not be changed and that we would have to take out the garbage from our room ourselves and put it in the hallway. This was a kind of absurd experience, since they said it was due to covid-19, but everyone could come down to the reception and get towels there, where the receptionist was not wearing gloves and did not wash her hands with alcohol between guests. When questioned about it, they said that the hotel website informed about this, and that we should have checked this prior to our stay. When I checked the website, there was no information about this. When I told the receptionist about it, they said they would look into it and update the website. When I checked a couple of days later, it was still not updated.
Concerning breakfast, this was a rather chaotic experience. Breakfast was served in two separate rooms, where only two chefs was serving hundreds of people, one at a time. Even though everyone had been given vouchers to get breakfast at a given time, where were cews of 50 people in front of us, and we had to wait 45 minutes to be served. Because of this, many families with small children had to go and get breakfast elsewhere. Here the hotel obviously had too many guest to handle breakfast serving the way they planned.

All in all, our stay was extremely disappointing. When you pay full price for a hotel room, and they lack to inform you that all the "luxury" you pay for is not included, it all feels like a scam to me. Especially since they refuse to put that on their website for future guest to see. Other than that, the hotel was very nice.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are so incredibly grateful to have you as our guest in a very special time. We take your opinion seriously. The effect of Covid-19 has made many changes for us all: as a hotel we have since March 2020 changed all routines, information and how we operate our operations in order to give you a safe and memorable stay. Regarding information we have been informing since march 2020 about the safety and information to guests regarding our facilities and how the hotels in Nordic choice operates on: www.nordicchoicehotels.com/information-regarding-safety-at-our-hotels. We also have it as a pop up in visiting all our windows to secure that our guests reads it and are informed. It must therefore be a misunderstanding regarding not finding the information somehow, maybe a specific info? As the information has been out since March. I will quality check with the receptionist being in contact with you under your stay to secure what was missing of information at that time. As a traveller today we need to keep us informed at all time as there are changes and updates due to covid-19 daily, and differences among countries etc, We therefore inform and update information actively on our website, TVs in the rooms, infoletter on arrival, SMS sent out to all guests given us their phone nr and posters around in several areas at our property. Third part channels as hotels.com are also informed, but information on third part channels are updated and own by themselves and out of the hotel directly control. But we at all time keep all cooperation partners informed but can not directly update their information. We take infection control extremely seriously and do our utmost to ensure that you are safe when you visit our hotels or stay with us. Nordic Choice Hotels follows official recommendations with respect to infection control of Covid-19. Our staff is also trained due to following infection control. In Norway it has been not allowed to serve food and beverages in different ways: we have served from bags, to plates, to chefs serving one and one: and we have just open now for full buffets again 17.7. This have made a huge importance for the experience for our guests. And the feedback from our guests is much better. We take extra caution and follow restrictions given by the Norwegian government to avoid spread of the virus, some extra waiting time do apply in doing so. It's been many changes and it will continue to change how we operate in the hospitality industry. No best practise exist and we change every day and almost by the hour to make sure we have a safe and good hotel product to our guests. We change also with the guests and we have to stand together and all of us most follow those restrictions given. We have big understanding that this is new for our guests, for us and everybody. And it will take time before we all are used to the new ways and new normal. It's a big task and new change. We have since your stay also made many changes and we can also see from the latest feedback from our guests that these changes have been positive. And behalf of all of us at Clarion The Hub we are really sorry for not living up to your expectations under your stay! We promise to keep developing, making new ways, keep our guests in top of our mind to make sure we can offer a safe and top service hotel experience also in the future. We thank you for your feedback, understanding and cooperation. Hope to be welcoming you back! Marianne Høybakk Hotel Manager

The location of this hotel is excellent as you can take an express or regional train that takes you directly from Oslo airport directly to Oslo S (central) station and from there is a 2 min walk to the hotel. The hotel itself is great! Love the lobby area and one swipe with the room card, the elevator takes you to your floor without having to punch in the floor # and you never have to stop at another floor! The breakfast options are so vast! We’ve stayed at top hotels and none has the variety that this hotel has and everything is delicious. The Munch Museum and Frogner park were very close by. We took Lime scooter instead of waking. Super convenient. Will definitely stay there again next time we go to Oslo.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights before we took the train to Bergen to join the Viking cruise. The hotel is just a 5 minutes walk across the central station where we got off the train from the airport. The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly, the decoration of the hotel is modern. We found our bed room of reasonable in size and beautifully designed. The hotel is within walking distance to the major attractions and has many department shops and restaurant around. The check out is easy that you can e-check out with the ipad at the reception. Since the hotel is just across the central station that we found it very easy for us to walk to the station with our luggage to board the train to Bergen to join our cruise. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who like to stay in the central location and want to take a few days in Oslo before joining the cruise in Bergen.

We were in Oslo for 5 days and I am so glad our travel agent booked this hotel for us to stay. It was new and stylish, rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. The lighting design in the room are perfect in my opinion.

The breakfast were absolutely sensational! There were so many different type of food to choose from - even we had breakfast there for 5 days, we were not bored at all!

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station but you wouldn’t hear any noise from the train / traffic. You can catch a train from the airport to Oslo central station, which is right opposite to this hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance from lots of shopping malls, shops, restaurants as well as attractions.

This is a big hotel ( over 800 rooms apparently) so you got the feeling that it is a busy hotel when you walked into the lobby. We stayed there between Christmas / New Year and yes there were a lot of people in the hotel , but I think the restaurant ( for breakfast) as well as reception ( for check in / check out) were extremely efficient so we didn’t spent much time ( if any) to wait for service at all. The lady at the reception ( Paula) was also very friendly and helpful.

The hotel didn’t seemed to have a concierge so if you need any advice for places to go you probably need to look it up yourself, or go visit the Tourist Information Centre ( next to the train station). This didn’t bother us at all and we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Will definitely stay here again if we come back to Oslo.

Am quite puzzled about this hotel.
Sure it has a hard to beat location, is nice and modern with comfy and stylish rooms, a plentyful buffet breakfast and a very popular lobby bar.

Of course I realise it is far cheaper to have a set of screens in the reception instead of employees. I can also appreciate the very speedy check in and out process - just click a button.
But what's wrong with personal interaction and an expressed welcome?
And surely if the operating cost is reduced the price of the rooms should have dropped correspondingly, not?

As much as enjoyed the comfort of the room, the rain shower and the great breakfast I missed the personal interaction. I never felt welcome to a hotel it was more like coming to a collection of private rooms.

Finally, those of you having taken Norwegian/Scandinavian language classes I am sorry to tell you won't have a chance to practice it here. Hardly any of the service staff are local/regional nor master the Scandinavian languages.

So you can understand I am puzzled. It is a good place already but you can imagine how great it could be with some personal interaction (without language barriers).

Hello MagnusL_11! Thank you for taking time to write a review. I am happy to read that you liked the room, breakfast and our facilities. The hotel reception does a lot behind the scenes and a lot more than "checking in and out" that cannot and will not be replaced by a machine. Taking care of guests, guarding the fire panel, answeing phones, emails, following up on requests ect. As a high tech hotel we are happy to have additional tools to help us with check in/outs so that we can have time to focus on our guests. Because when things happen or you need something, you get sick ect, it is the people of the hub who will help you and take care of you. We have 84 different nationalities working at the hub and we are immensely proud of the diversity we have under one roof, most of us scandinavian :) I hope we get to welcome you back!
