Train station is very close and can connect you with a variety of places both local and further afield
The reception at the hotel has a very pleasant team who will always do their best to help ( my only feedback is they were remiss in telling me on arrival some key things breakfast, restaurant times; the WiFi and checkout times) all of which I was able to resolve quickly
The room (a double superior) is spacious well layed out and has all the things you would expect. (*There is no iron in the room)
Bed is reasonably comfortable however you only get 1 pillow (more are available from reception) the room has a fridge, kettle & coffee machine.
The breakfast is a good spread with both continental & hot food .
The restaurant when we were there wasn’t particularly busy however the food and service were excellent
It is a hotel that I would use again
Hotel is situated about a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre, a cab back from town cost us about 7 EURO. Parking is available at the side of the building, there is a barrier so is only partially secure, but we had no problems.
Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The room itself was of a reasonable size, has been modernised and was clean, same for the bathroom.
We used the restaurant one evening, the food was good if a little pricey, but the service from the bar/restaurant staff was excellent even though they were very busy. We didn't have breakfast here so unable to comment.
Would stay again.
I booked a day trip through the hotel, that was just as difficult as check in. Nothing was made clear about what we needed or time of pick up. Lucky I did my own research and realised I needed ID for this trip.
Would I stay at this hotel again, definitely not, would I consider staying at another Mercure Hotel, probably not. Our room had a very odd smell too and you can’t sleep with the windows open because people outside make a noise very early in the morning. Our room wasn’t cleaned until about 4pm everyday during our stay, this was the time we’d like to get ready before heading back out for dinner.
I’ve travelled to many cities/countries and this is by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.
We were provided 4 welcome drinks vouchers as Gold member, as well as a welcome fruit/chocolate platter. Very happy with the stay, and will stay there again in the future.
