I loved the proximity to a few perfect beaches but also being out of the bigger cities. For exploring the island renting a car is useful, but not needed daily. Grin Car rental works directly with the resort and is a bit pricy but very convenient as they bring the car to you at Karma Minoan. The rooms are brightly whitewashed with simple but elegant furnishings mostly with Agean blue decor. Comfortable mattresses. A refreshing pool. Wonderful buffet breakfasts which are served until 11 am allowing for really only needing one other meal per day. The front desk was very helpful suggesting but not pushing tours. We found all of their recommendations to be worthwhile including an all day trip to Santorini and a guided tour of various archeological highlights , the Heraklion Museum and an olive oil factory

This was out first visit to Greece. When travelling we try to find places to stay that are outside of the main tourist areas and that still embody the local culture of the country and people. Karma Minoan was a great example of this. An hour's drive from the main city of Heraklion in Crete, this resort is tucked away on top of a hill in a nice quiet part of the island. Being so high up, the view of the sea is pretty stunning. The resort itself has just over 40 rooms, so it's not too crowded and finding a lounger next to swimming pool was not a challenge. All of the staff are local to the area, so you get a good sense of the warm and friendly Greek culture at reception, at the bar or in the small restaurant. The room was spacious, clean and the beds really comfortable. The Aircon was a lifesaver in the evening as it stays pretty warm at night, even in early July. The bathroom only had a shower (no bath) but this suited us perfectly. There was a fully stocked bar fridge in the room and the prices were reasonable.
The walk to the beaches is only 10 minutes away, there are 2-3 to choose from. We hired a car and spent some time visiting the local villages and beaches along the east coast of the island, enjoying great food and soaking up the sun. Thursday night, the resort hosts a Greek night with excellent local food, musicians, dancing and traditional plate smashing. We really enjoyed the experience. If you are looking for a place that is authentic to the island atmosphere, not packed with hundreds of people, really comfortable and reasonably priced, this is a good option. We will be back there for sure.

What a fabulous place. Crete is so pretty and still hot at this time of year. Our hotel is typically Cretan with white-washed walls, large rooms, balconies and a deep blue and clean swimming pool. Food excellent. Just had an amazing massage with Amalia. Really good and no knots left!

Where to start… this place is a tonic! We hadn’t experienced a life changing holiday until we came here. This place has too many good points to list but we will try! Obviously the stunning waterside location, offering vistas of the sea, mountains and nearby towns, the stylishly simple Greek rooms and terraces, coupled with the almost too comfortable (we ended up oversleeping!) bed and indoor/outdoor furniture, all kept absolutely spotless by Authi, Maria, Stella and Victoria. Eating absolutely delicious fresh seafood prepared by Nektaria, Nektarie, Sophix and Soula and lamb that just melts in your mouth out on the terrace was a total highlight, especially as my partner has always refused to even try seafood; up until wolfing down seconds of calamari during a top drawer dinner with Andy (the 100% awesome rep) and his lovely Mum, Helen. This was just one of several magical evenings, where we were treated like honoured family, (shoutout and thanks to the owner John for the Dom Perignon!). The best thing about the place is hands down the staff. Dimitris gave us a warm and friendly welcome at 0330 in the morning, letting us check in really early, with Manolis/Georgie always ready to help with referrals etc. Special thanks to Anna, also on front desk, who is a delight, always happy and more than helpful arranging cars etc. We are not particularly social usually but loved and chatted with everyone but especially with the F&B team. Sotiris and Anna are exactly who you want to see in the morning, always happy and charming, as is Taskyn who kept us entertained with stories and we are actually in love with Stelios and George who went out of their way to make our time really special, making us feel beyond welcome, we will be coming back to see them in particular and actually cannot wait! We have never felt a connection like this with staff before and it was a big part of our decision to become members, these boys are literally worth their weight in gold. Thank you so much Karma Minoan, this is hands down the best holiday we have ever had (hats off to Maryna and I think possibly Valarius for running such a beautiful establishment), see you all again soon (hopefully October!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is absolutely stunning, providing breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. The pool was a bit cold, but it was still a spot to relax. We dined several times at the hotel's own restaurant, which was very good. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our room had a beautiful Greek style, which we loved. Although it was a bit worn in some places, it wasn't a major issue. We were very glad to have rented a car, as the hotel is somewhat secluded, making it much easier to explore the surrounding area (thanks to Stelios for his great recommendations!).
I would especially like to highlight the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff. A big thank you to Stelios, George, and Anna for making our stay so memorable!

Well presented place, nestled out of agios Nikolaos, the grounds up to reception are lovely , well maintained all over resort. In reception there are very knowledgeable staff , Anna and Georgia were are main two who we dealt with. They could tell you all you needed to know and do on the island , very helpful. We did not hire a car, the bus service , 5 min walk away was great . Hubby hire a quad for 2 days , so we went on adventures around the other side of the island . We also took some of the trips , spinalonga, safari to water fall, which took in olive oil factory, kritsa, and the oldest living olive tree about 3,000 yrs etc. The staff are all lovely , kind and courteous, the house keeping manager Anthi , and her team , could not do enough to make your room feel welcoming every day . The room consisted of sitting area , bedroom area with coffee machine and fridge , also mini bar, shower room and toilet. The food was delicious something for everyone , am gluten and lactose intolerant, and still lots to choose from. We had welcome night, acoustic afternoon, traditional Greek night that was fantastic, great fun was had by all. Cocktail evening. Thanks to the wonderful, humorous bar staff, stelios, sotiris , George and Georgia, they have kept us entertained for the last 2weeks . Lastly marina who has let us stay in our room as it was not needed and we have a late flight , there was a plan B if needed . Thank you all for a wonderful time and will definitely be back .

Location: This resort is in a nice location. About 1 hour from Heraklion airport and port which is about a 90 euro taxi ride or once can get the bus to Agios Nikolaus. Taxis are fixed price from resort to Ag. Nikolaus of 12 euros. The resort is on a bluff with fantastic views. There is a bus stop nearby to go into town or to other beaches. There is a beach within 5-minute walk and a further beach about 15 minutes' walk. Both offer nice water, and water activities. Amoudara beach also has restaurants and sunbeds are free with purchase. Apt: The apartments are clean, nice and well stocked. Excellent amenities and comfortable. Resort: The resort is fantastic. They do a welcoming dinner and drinks, daily happy hour, Yoga on Tuesdays and a Greek night (plate smashing and traditional food). We had an excellent experience at this resort. Staff: What sets this resort apart is the excellent staff. They were all kind, friendly and helpful. From reception, bartenders, to wait-staff, they treat you like family. They can also help arrange excursions or rental cars.

Once again we were made very welcome to this unique resort idyllically situated in the cliffs with sea facing rooms, and stunning views. (Lots of steps) Take bus to town , drive to the many fascinating places to visit, or walk to a nearby beach. Or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the resort, with delicious food offered by the on site restaurant. The very enjoyable welcome party with a feast of local food was a great opportunity to get to know other guests. Thanks Anna 1 for all your help with my Greek lessons and thanks Anna 2 for all your tips on places to visit. You are great ambassadors for the region. Paul entertained us on Quiz night and the boys at the bar kept our glasses filled. Thanks for another great holiday and we hope to come back soon.

I recently stayed at Karma Minoan as a last minute trip at the end of the summer and couldn’t have wished for a better stay. The room was spotless, with beautiful views from our balcony. The staff were so sweet and helpful when it came to arranging taxis/booking restaurants etc, nothing was too much trouble. The location is ideal and we walked down to the little beach (about 15 minutes) most mornings for a coffee & a swim before heading out for the day/back to the pool to relax. We thought about renting a car for a day or two but to be honest, taxis were just as easy!
Karma will be a firm favourite of ours and I am already looking forward to coming back.

Hi, as far as I know, there are some on all levels. If you like a special level, I recommend to contact the hotel.
Selfcatering is a kettle and tea/instant coffee and a small fridge with complementary waterbottles every day, but in the restaurant there are breakfast, lunch and dinner offered. That all is reasonably priced and very good.
You can go by foot to a little beach with some nice restaurants there and up the hill in the village. It is about 15min. Enjoy your holiday there. We loved it! Best wishes to all the team there!
There are more places to choose from in the Agios Nikolaos area.
