The hotel is very well positioned for easy access to the flea market and Plaka areas.
It is a modern and functional hotel with an excellent roof terrace restaurant which afforded great views of the Acropolis accompanied by an excellent meal

It has underground parking, which was important to us with two high value motorcycles....however the access is steep and challenging for heavy bikes.

Overall, a good hotel in an excellent position with helpful staff. A good choice on our part.

We stayed for a long weekend over in Athens, the hotel is not the newest, however, both room and the bed were very comfortable. The staff was super helpful, first in changing our room (from 2 single beds to 1 double) and secondly with showing us the best routes and places to see. The location was great, very close to the metro and walking distance to the strict center. Nice breakfast.

As part of a school group (22 students aged 17-18, and 2 staff) we were very well looked after. The English of the desk staff was far, far better than my Greek and they were quick to respond helpfully to any queries we had. We had some luggage lost in transit and they helped us retrieve it. Rooms were comfortable 3* rooms: peaceful, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and nice towels. Food was good, particularly breakfast, with reasonable vegetarian options for evening meals. Vegan food was less well understood, but they were very kind sorting out additional plain food for a student with food issues.

The only issue we had was that a VERY large and VERY noisy group of younger students arrived on our last night, barely under the control of their teachers. We went out for an hour or so to escape the noise but by the time we returned, the hotel staff had spoken with the group's leaders and order was fully restored.

I'd very happily stay there with groups again in future.

We requested a quiet room & double bed, we got to singles beds & a room with the maids telephone on the wall outside our door , it would ring from early morning & thoughout the day, there was a 2cm gap under the door which i stuffed with a blanket to block out the noise, the tv was on the far left handside of the wall & the beds on the right side so you could not watch it but only listen. No coffee & spoons in room as stated in room discription, only kettle & cups & tea. The window would not lock so very dangerous for small kids. Very strong smell of cigarette smoke in room, we open the window as it was quite warm inside even though it is winter & a/c would only work on heat! But there wad a bad smell from cat pee.
Terrible service from reception when i requested to change rooms as we were not there for holiday & would be spending our time in the room & without a tv it would be difficult , i was ignored & told that nobody else have ever complained, i doubt that! The parking is very small & narrow, we had to reverse several time upon enterng & leaving, manoeuvring was very difficult in such a small space , you pay €8 per day but they can't guarantee you a space:-) no bath mat we had to use our face towel, very uncomfortable bed & lumpy pillows. Stay away pay a little more & get a good night sleep as at this hitel you won't.

I stayed at Crystal City for 11 nights. The room was a good size for me, although the bathroom was a little small, and could maybe benefit from a shelf or two. There is a fridge provided in the room, a kettle for making coffee & tea, and a safe. I found the heating system a little quirky, but ok once I figured out how to use it.

Being at the back, my room was pretty quiet, although the view wasn't brilliant as it backed onto other hotels. The free breakfast provided was more than adequate, with a large choice of food- pretty much any option, including eggs, sausages, cerial, bread, cheeses & cold meats, you name it. The coffee from the machine could be better though!

The hotel is minutes from the metro (Metaxourgeio station on the red line), and close to bus & trolley lines. It's located just off Karaiskaki Square, which is within walking distance of Omonoia, Syntagma & the Plaka area, the Acropoli & the museums.

The free WiFi was great throughout, and the TV in the room was fine. The staff were generally friendly & helpful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I've travelled to more than 40 countries, this was by far the worst hotel I've ever been to. Very dirty, the photos on booking com are not realistic: old, outdated rooms with old furniture, smelly and dodgy. I found a cockroach when I entered the room, asked to be transferred to another room. Second room was similarly dirty, was offered a third bigger room but the point was made. Had to escape as soon as possible. With lot of effort I managed to arrange a transfer to a hotel of the same owner but one thing was clear: never again in crystal city or any hotel of this hotel chain (they have 3-4 hotels in Athens). Stay away and find good professionals in Greece that respect their customers, especially during covid times that hygiene is #1 priority.
Only positive aspect was the kindness of the reception personnel that despite the awful hotel they work at, they tried to handle as best as possible our situation.

I arrived early following a long-haul flight and the reception was more than happy for me to access my room. The food at the rooftop bar was surprisingly good. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the tourist areas, without paying the elevated prices of central Athens. The room is small but comfortable with all required amenities, and I particularly enjoyed having the small balcony.

I want to start by saying there were two positives … the hotel reception staff and that the room was clean. Also keep in mind when choosing this hotel it is 3 star although it barely reached this standard imho.

On the first night we were located in a room on the 5th floor overlooking the rear of the hotel. This was directly level with a huge air con unit (or similar) - see photos. Even with the window shut it was noisy and echoed in the courtyard of the two hotels. The air con in the room was noisy as was the fridge. Not a great nights sleep !

We asked reception staff to move rooms and were located in a room at the back of the hotel again but two floors down. The noise from the air in unit the second night was marginally better but still evident.

Breakfast was not good and so I only had it in the first morning.

The area where the hotel is located is pretty dodgy and so I would avoid walking in the back streets.

It was a clean hotel with dated equipment and the photos of the rooftop bar gives it a better impression of the hotel than what it really is.

Would I stay here again ? The answer has to be no sorry crystal city 😔

We stayed at this hotel for a week vacation. The rooms are small and outdated but most European hotels are, however the staff, location and breakfast are great. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is near all downtown amenities and walking distance to all transportation and the acropolis. The bakery downstairs is open 24/7 and is amazing. The breakfast is great and buffet style with fresh vegetables and delicious Greek cuisine. It's a little noisy because traffic and street noise but by the time we come back to sleep we are too tired to care. They recommended Alexander the Great Restaurant and we loved it.

I can't say I didn't like my stay in the Crystal City Hotel in Athens because the staff was very friendly and my room was clean.. But the rooms are definitely not soundproofed, the breakfast was disappointing and the neighborhood was rather strange. Not legal things are happening there I must say.
