I stayed at Novus City Hotel, Athens for a week in September 2021. The hotel truly deserves a 5-Star rating for offering ‘value for money’ accommodation in central Athens. The room was large and clean. The chambermaids did in excellent job following all the Covid-19 protocol of sanitizing the room thoroughly beyond their normal duties. Every morning there was a sumptuously elaborate and delicious buffet breakfast to meet any diet. I much enjoyed the roof bar at sunset with a view of the city and most notably The Acropolis.
But, above all, what made my stay at the hotel so special was their professional, helpful and courteous staff. From the bartender at roof’s bar to the staff serving breakfast – they were all very good and obliging. Yet, to me the Bellboy and the front receptionists get my utmost thanks and appreciation. Mr. Tasos, at the front reception was always helpful assisting with directions, arranging tours and making appointments for PCR and other Covid related tests before departure. My sincere thanks to Mr. Tasos and the rest of the Novus City Hotel staff for all their courtesies towards me during my stay.

We stayed at the Novus Hotel for 4 nights in September. We mentioned that it was a special anniversary trip for us and so were very pleased when they upgraded our room. It was an executive room and very spacious, modern and clean. Air-conditioning worked perfectly. The beds were extremely comfortable with fresh crisp linen. The breakfast was excellent too, due to COVID restrictions they can’t have their regular buffet, but that was not a problem because they cooked everything for you fresh on the spot!! Everyday we had lovely hot bacon, eggs, pancakes etc. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, on the first night the receptionist recommended we have dinner at a restaurant ( Alexander the Great) just around the corner and it was one of the best meals we had. The hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace too with gorgeous city views. It is very conveniently located for city exploring, about 10/15 minutes walk from the center. The only downside is that the area immediately around the hotel is a bit rough, we walked home every night and were fine but if you are nervous you can always take a taxi. Overall, we had an excellent time and would definitely repeat/recommend.

I cant say enough about this hotel. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is centrally located within walking distance to restaurants, cafe's, stores etc. The area was safe. I read some reviews where people felt the area was "seedy" at night. We did not get that vibe at all. The hotel stay includes and AMAZING breakfast buffet that has something for everyone. Some of the items are changed daily to keep it interesting. The entire hotel was very clean from the breakfast room, to the hotel rooms, lobby, pool, roof top restaurant, lounge area and bar. Staff throughout the hotel are very helpful and kind. They can arrange taxi service for you with preset prices so you dont get ripped off! The hotel restaurant had a wide variety of food with generous portions. We wrapped some of our food and kept it in the refrigerator in our room for a snack to eat the next day. Prices throughout the hotel are reasonable. There are AMAZING city views including the Acropolis from the rooms and the rooftop pool/bar/restaurant as well. It is about a half hour ride from the airport (cost is around 30-35 Euro). 15 minutes ride from the cruise port (around 20-25 Euro).

We spent a very pleasent week in the hotel. It appears typical of many in the city, clean and well maintained by very attentive and friendly staff. The roof top bar and restaurant are well worth a visit as there are wonderful views of the city and it is great place to relax after a long day sight seeing with a meal (very reasonable priced and good value) and a glass of something of choise. I often went along late evening for a coffee before bed.
You have easy access to the city centre attractions, or the beach via the fantastic metro and buses or trams too.
We would deffinately return next time.

Staff and hotel in general was very nice. Location to metro stations (Metaxourgeio and Omonia) made it very convenient, however, I would advise avoiding Omonia Station and always travel into Metaxourgeio as the walk back from Omonia takes you down roads which is full of drug addicts openly taking drugs and whilst we didn't have any problems with them it did get unnerving at times expecially when walking with family.

The breakfast was nothing special but pleasant considering it comes free with the booking so a very welcomed addition.

In general a good hotel but when walking around the surrounding areas I would avoid taking a right when exiting the hotel and always go left, especially late at night.

We had 4 nights accomodation from 28th of dec. till 1st of January and I can say only good words about the hotel.
We came with out daughter, we had a premium triple room, big enough, 3rd floor with the view on the back, as we asked. Because of the high traffic in Athens, I think everywhere you stay, there is traffic noise from the street, but this time, not having a room with street view, was great.
The staff from the reception till the bar on the rooftop, are very kind, friendly, always happy to assist you with what you need. The room was cleaned each day, very good breakfast too, so I really recommend this hotel.
It is about 20-30 min walking distnate from Syntagma square or Acropolis, so we did not need the use the public transpo.
I agree with come negative comments about the dark streets closed to the hotel, with a lot of homeless, but these can be avoid if you decide to walk.

I stayed at Novus City Hotel for 3 nights with a friend.

Positives: really friendly staff, everyone was helpful, funny, friendly, I think they are the main attraction to the hotel. The building itself is modern and clean. Our hotel room was clean and tidy, the rooftop pool and bar is a nice touch to a city based accommodation and the continental breakfast was also really nice and varied.

Negatives: The hotel is in a very run down area of Athens and I’d recommend taking taxis everywhere. The taxis we took would drive us through one particular street which was honestly full of people sleeping rough and openly using needles, it was alarming. We were advised on our first arrival not to walk into the city on our own which kind of ruined the city break a bit. Other than its location, the only other complaint of the hotel is the pillows, they’re rock hard.

If you’re a hardy traveller who does a lot of city breaks, the location might not bother you, but if you’re looking for a more scenic experience, that feels a little safer, I would look for a hotel in Plaka, or closer to the acropolis.

This is a very basic hotel, much in need of up-dating,neighborhood was not safe at all.

The staff at NOVUS Hotel is lovely. The friendly lady at the front desk went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. All were friendly and helpful!!.

Noisy rooms. For a four star I would have expected better than this - very noisy room,no light at all from outside as the window blinds were broken. They should renovate a bit then is fine.

The breakfast was average, big variety but very poor quality.

Rooftop bar has an amazing view of the Acropolis at night, worth it to gave a drink there.

The staff in this hotel are extremely helpful and welcoming. We requested a room with a balcony and the staff accommodated us. The balcony was super spacious and we were really grateful. The room and hotel feels quite run down and not the quality of a 4 star. Everything from the discoloured pool, rotten grouting in the shower, skirting boards falling off walls and plug sockets hanging out gave the feeling of a hotel that has seen better days. Although the hotel is a great location for walking into major tourist attractions the area has a significant homeless and drug addiction problem. Any of the back streets had groups of drug addicts hanging out and openly injecting which made me feel quite unsafe, particularly at night time. I think you could do better for the same price.

Dear Guest, We would like to thank you for having taken the time to post your review and impressions of your visit. Even though we do appreciate your praise of our friendly staff, let me kindly say that your comment regarding our "star" rating are highly inconsistent with the many positive ones that are being posted. We are a proud "4-star" hotel through and through, we have earned our rating and all our staff works tirelessly to live up to it. Nevertheless, rest assured that we take all feedback very seriously, and use it in order to keep improving on our services. Once again, we thank you for having chosen our property as your place of residence. Kind regards, Mrs Kakari

The hotel is located in the city center of Athens, which is a plus, but on the other hand, theres a street filled with homeless people right behind it.
The rooms were nice, spacious, the beds were on the softer side, but i feel like thats just a subjective preference, bathroom was clean, but the reception and common spaces were not as they were shown in ad pictures. The interior decor was chaotic with mixed styles and not looking that appealing.
Breakfast was over our expectations, with many variations of greek and international breakfast but the top bar/restaurant was overpriced with slow service. The pool was alright, as expected. Could have been more sunbeds by it.
Overall a nice stay located in the city center of Athens with metro station 3 mins away.
