Stayed here for a week with my husband and had a great time! Very good value for money, and everything you may wish to see in Athens is within comfortable walking distance.

The room was clean and surprisingly spacious - there was even a balcony. The room also had a clean bathroom, a good shower, and good air conditioning. The breakfast was alright but there are many nice bakeries nearby.

The reception offers 24h service and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped us get a taxi ready for our departure and they also called to make sure we had woken up.

About the area - we didn't do our research on Metaxiurgeio, and while it may not be the fanciest, the area around Karaiskaiki square (where the hotel is located) felt perfectly safe in the daytime. We always took a taxi back to the hotel when we stayed out late (use Beat app to avoid tourist fares).

All in all, I would recommend this hotel! Thank you for a nice stay :)

We were searching for a hotel near Athens center in a reasonable price and having a possibility to park our van. It turned out it was not that easy to find a hotel fulfilling our criteria but finally we managed and we were happy with our choice.
The parking is in the street right behind the corner and it is under constant camera surveillance which was great. The staff at Katerina hotel was very nice and helpful and we also loved a little balcony in our room overlooking a busy street. Moreover, the hotel is really very close to the city center, you can easily walk there and observe all the rush and chaos in narrow Athens streets while walking there.

Stayed 2 nights in Hotel Katerina. Very friendly hotel, clean, and quiet at night. We were at an upper floor. Our room had a small terrace, was not fancy or luxury, but had all we needed. Breakfast was tasty. There are restaurants, very close to the hotel. Metrostation is next to the hotel. Trainstation Larisa is a 10 minutes walk. Archeological museum, a 15 minutes walk too. You are able to walk to all the highlights of Athens, to the Acropolis and its museum, to the ancient agora, to Monastiraki, to Syntagma Square...
A supermarket is at 10 minutes walking. The environment of the hotel has indeed some poor people that are living and sleeping in the streets. In daytime, that is not a problem and we felt safe. We did not leave at night. We should stay again in Katerina Hotel.

Horrible experience. Rooms are way too small, worse than expected. The breakfast was boring, as it was the same for a week and we were served only the simolest dishes, nothing traditional or special. Our flight was in the night and check out was in the morning, we asked them to keep our belongings in a spare room but they responded that they will be able to do that only in return for money, so they do not have any luggage room.

Response from Hotel Athens, Υπεύθυνος at Hotel Katerina
Responded 26 Jul 2022
We are trying to locate your reservation but we can't find anything under your name within the last few months. We are a 3 star hotel and we have served the same breakfast buffet for years now and we never had any complaints for the quality or the variety included. For the luggage we have a storage room in our hotel, It's free of charge and we can keep them as long as you need even for days for customers who travel around the Greek Islands. We never charged a customer for keeping the luggages in our hotel. Our hotel is located in Athens central in the Metaxourgeio area. Are you certain we are reviewing the hotel you stayed at? For any additional information, we are always at your disposal. Kind regards, Katerina Hotel

Extremely rude staff. We booked a room here and left because of how dirty it was. Everything is also very dated. From the moment we walked in the front desk man was not friendly to us at all. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Find another hotel elsewhere.

We needed to stay for 2 days in a hotel due to constructions in our house and hotel Katerina was the perfect choice! The man in the reception,Giannis was very helpful and because he saw we were very exhausted he upgraded our room and gave us the Suite! The balcony was big with view around the city ! It was such a lovely gesture. Hotel is next to a metro station which is very convenient.Rooms are very clean and all the staff is smiling! Breakfast is a plus because it’s very fresh and tasty ! The waiting area in the reception is big and nice! The perfect choice for staying in the center of Athens!

It is located not far away from the metro station. Employees are nice and polite. The breakfast is bountiful, delicious and fresh. The bed is comfortable. The WiFi connection is stable. The price is reasonable. The ambience is clean. I will use this hotel for my future vacations in Athens.

First of all, please remember, its a budget hotel, so no frills, no high expectations.

Now, when you are ready with this mindset, believe me, it will definitely surpass your expectations. View to acropolis, you "CAN" view it with the help of a very good eyesight only. Elevator are very small but two. Traffic noise is there, so, please try for upper floors. Avoid first/second floors as these are noisy at the breakfast time.

Apart from these, you will love everything about this hotel.

Staff was very very courteous and helpful. Location is very good, just a minute walk from Metaxourgeio metro station. Walking distance from several landmarks. Wifi is available on all floors (the speed is good). Breakfast was fantastic and believe me, you will not be able to taste even half of the items. Greek halwa (a kind of sweets) was the best. Terrace suite has a nice small terrace garden also.

I have stayed here twice and would love to go back again.

Highly recommended as it is true value for money.

We flew all away to Athens to the land of the Gods to celebrate our 1st yr wedding anniversary and our 1st host hasn`t shown up! We were stucked in the middle of the city at 3AM with no place to sleep ;( however being happy and a couple that survives all, we were browsing over the net and starting looking and looking and found `Hotel Katerina` which had the name of the saint of my husband`s village! What a sign! We called and they had only 1 room left!! OMG WE BOOKED AND WE LOVED IT ;) It`s a cosy, little hotel at a good location in Athens. (metro, bus, sightseeing bus just around the corner, shopping street a few streets away, Acropolis a comfortable 20-25 minutes walk, safe area, busy that gives you a glimpse of the atmosphere of the city. The hotel itself gave us a very good 1st impression. The reception staff was friendly, anytime any day 24/7. The room was on the 6st floor with a few of the city houses and the faraway mountains. The elevator was the charm of all, tini-tiny - truly, perfect for couples and people who has a positive aura to fit into such a small place which made every morning/evening special still. The room is relatively small which means that a hotel room for sleeping and changing and taking a nap is just perfect. Bfast had a normal, good, tasty selection with yammie deserts which I loved to start the day with! Finally I didn`t have to order a whole menu to start with the best part - the cakes ;P Great place that gave our few days a perfect home to start the day with and where we were glad to be back, get a cup of coffee which was also excellent. Kalimera Athens!

From the airport you can take a taxi to the hotel, or ride in the subway. You take the straight line to monasteraki, then change to the blue line, and you will need metaxourgio, takes 3 minutes to the hotel from there. On the way back, the hotel orders a taxi for you. It cost me 50€ to the airport.
