First of all, location was at the same time good and bad - although centrally located, the hotel is in an area that might cause some worry in a female solo traveller, but as I was travelling with a friend, it seemed safer. The receptionist was a very kind man, who gave us tips about the area and accomodated us quickly, as it was already 21:00 and we were tired after a boat trip from Santorini. The room was comfortable, no frills but with everything we needed and very clean. It is a very good budget hotel and, although my review is quite late, I hope they could keep the quality standard that deserved these 4 stars. ;-)

The Brazil Hotel is very handy to the Victoria Metro stop. The hotel is family-run and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, with its own bathroom and a nice TV. It has free WiFi. The hotel reception is staffed for 24 hours a day, so you can leave your key at the desk and return any time. It's cheap and a lovely place to stay.

Stayed for 5 nigths, the location is great. Rooms are clean and comfy. The true star is the staff, 5 star hotels cannot do better.

Directly on the metro to Acropolis, close enough to walk, far enough to see locals.

Brazil isn't a bad place. Friendly indeed and so many places to see. I would recommend it to anyone. I've watched Rodada cult on YouTube and saw beautiful places to visit there . The hotels are awesome with affordable prices. And travel by uber is cheap.

My husband and I are traveling with our 2 sons (a 5 month old and a 3 year old). We specified this in our booking. Com reservation, but the info was not transmitted to the hotel or saved on the booking.

I understand that many hotels cannot accommodate children, hence I try to be up front with this information. The man at the front desk saw our children and gave us the room key instead of stating that he cannot accommodate us.

My three year old was acting like a typical three year old - nothing excessive, but enough to bother other guests if the walls are thin. Also, the Athens marathon was the next day, making good sleep more critical for other guests.

After spending an hour in the room, we were asked to leave and initially told that we would not receive a refund.

The manager also threatened to call the police and file a lawsuit for us committing fraud.

I initially requested 80% of the money back. The hotel compromised by giving us 50 percent of our money back. I left after spending another 45 minutes arguing with the desk and talking with booking.com who clarified that the children were not listed.

My kids needed some sleep and we were not going to have it at this hotel.

I don't appreciate the managers threats of calling the police and lawsuits for fraud. I understand that mistakes happen, and find this behavior unprofessional.

My wife and I booked the hotel partly because it was affordable, and partly because of the ok to positive reviews of Brazil Hotel.
We regretted our stay. The condition of the room was disappointing - when we turned on the "uv" purple lighting, dubious stains on the bedsheet and pillowcases showed up!! Yucks!!! Definitely not the kind of place you would want to bring your spouse or partner to ... The reception was definitely not helpful - I waited a long time to check in, clean towels were not given (we had to ask). When we said we needed to checkout very early the next morning, guess what, the reception said we will miss breakfast then.

As other reviews have noted, this is very much a no-frills budget hotel (it does not pretend to be otherwise). There are no lifts, which might be a problem for those with mobility issues - I don't know how many floors there are as we were on the first floor. The rooms are pretty Spartan (sorry...), but don't let that put you off as there are a huge number of pluses to this hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful, with excellent English. The air conditioning works really well and, as it was 35 degrees, this was most welcome! I had read reviews of other hotels more centrally-located saying that noise was a big problem. In contrast, Brazil Hotel was almost silent, which was a huge positive for me as a lighter sleeper (the beds are on the firmer side, which is how I prefer them - I found them very comfy). Our room was spotlessly clean and it looked just like the photos on the website we booked through. The shower has very good water pressure and easily adjustable temperature that you can set to your liking. There are some complimentary toiletries and an older-looking hairdryer. The TV was simple to use, with a decent number of English-speaking/subtitled channels, which I appreciated as someone who does not speak Greek.

To address some of the comments about the neighbourhood, my (male) partner and I found it to be fine, even in the evening, with a fair number of women and children out in addition to the men milling around the square. Pickpocketing is, unfortunately, a problem in Athens as a whole; simply exercise the same caution near the hotel as you would elsewhere and you will be fine. There are some decent restaurants nearby and these are much cheaper than the ones located in central Athens, though there is less choice. Opposite the hotel there is a handy shop called Jony's Minimart that sells drinks and snacks. I don't know if we were served by Jony himself, but we went in pretty much every evening and the man behind the counter was absolutely lovely - he waved to us each time we left the hotel! Do consider giving your custom to this shop if you stay at Brazil. The outstanding National Archaeological Museum, which houses the golden mask of Agamemnon and the Antikythera Mechanism, is a ten minute walk from the hotel. It is about five minutes walk to the nearest metro station (Victoria) and from there maybe about 20-30 minutes into central Athens, so it is very easy to get to the main attractions.

In addition to the fact that the hotel looked clean and close to good transport links, the final factor that led us to choose Brazil was the price. We paid about £35 per night, which is obscenely cheap for a capital city. Overall, this hotel probably has the best quality to price ratio of anywhere I have ever stayed.

So, then, the big question: would I stay here again? Absolutely, without question.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Brazil Hotel in Athens, Greece. Our room was large, exceptionally clean and had an excellent up-to-date bathroom, including a 2 person Jacuzzi. Our room had a very comfortable bed, nice furniture, special effects lighting, a sound system and a good size television with remote. The hotel is a family run business and the owners and staff were especially courteous, professional, attentive, friendly, helpful and pleasant in their dealings with us. They accommodated us by speaking English and were a delight to get to know.
The breakfast in the morning, which was included in the price of the room, had good variety, was very substantial, tasted good, had fresh breads and pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals, juices, eggs, fresh brewed coffee, tea and milk, etc. The hotel also has a small bar.
Our room was quiet and secure. There were not individual room safes, but we were allowed to put our valuables in the office safe if we wanted to.
The hotel is located within easy walking distance to the National Archaeological Museum. We personally liked the location, though people who want their hotel to be right in the heart of the old town, might have a different opinion. To us the advantage of the location of the Brazil Hotel was it was a 5 minute walk, mostly on a pedestrian street, to the Victoria Station of the metro. From there, the whole city was only a few minutes away via the metro. We found it very convenient. The tickets were inexpensive and the metro is 1st rate and easy to use. I was recovering from the after-effects of a broken ankle at the time and appreciated being able to get to all the main sights of Athens with ease. The street the hotel is on, is a narrow street without a great deal of traffic. Victoria metro station is located on Victoria Square, which is a small park surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops. The park gets a fair amount of use with locals meeting and talking, etc and tourists walking about but we saw nothing rowdy or troublesome. The owners of the hotel said it was a safe area and we found nothing to counter this in our four nights there. We felt perfectly safe walking around at ten or eleven o'clock at night, after eating at the restaurants.
I will add that just like the rest of Athens, there is some graffiti (or graphics, as they are sometimes called). The graffiti is not gang related, rather just the work of people who apparently like doing it.
Compared to the other hotels we reviewed and priced in Athens, I would say we received very good value for our money at the Brazil Hotel. We had no complaints and the hotel lived up to its claims. We commented while we were there that it was definitely one of the cleanest rooms we'd ever had, anywhere. There is no elevator but the owner helped us carry our luggage upstairs. We think there is at least one Jacuzzi room on the ground floor if one couldn't manage the stairs. We would recommend the Brazil Hotel without hesitation. It enhanced our enjoyment of Athens and made a pleasant place for us to come back to after hours of sightseeing.

We lost money walking out of another similarly priced hotel that was awful nearby and were shocked to wander into this unassuming but FANTASTIC place. Very friendly family run hotel, in a great location right by victoria station. They even upgraded us to a larger room that was available, since we were traveling with our infant son. Very helpful! We stayed here for 3 nights, with two nights in between during which time we traveled up north and they held our excess luggage here allowing us to travel light. We were thrilled to return for our final two nights in Athens here. Easy access to all major sites, and great Indian food right across the street made dinner something to look forward to and very convenient after a day out and about. Great price, great rooms, great service. Highly recommend.
