Five nights during a national holiday and this place came in bang on budget.
Less than a mile from Syntagma Square and walking distance from a local metro. Quiet as off road on a pedestrian street surrounded by local eateries in both directions
I had a small but functional room with double bed, fridge air-conditioning, balcony and bathroom.
Service was great from the reception staff, and the lifts while being small are very fast.

A small hotel located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. Very good staff, friendly and professional, with perfect English. We felt very welcome here. We were lucky to get a comfortable triple room with a very spacious and nice balcony. Air con was ice cold and room had a fridge too. Walking distance to all the sites and 24 hour reception to welcome you back at the end of a long day's sight seeing. A fantastic cafe called Kekkos just round the corner. I would be back to this hotel in a flash if returning to Athens.

This was my second stay at the hotel ZAPPION, since I was very happy with the first stay. More than anything the staff, particularly "George" could not have been more helpful. I had some special requests for Valentine's and they went out of their way to add special little touches beyond my expectations. It is by price a "budget" hotel, but service deserves more. Everything was clean, breakfast more than I could ever manage, aircon worked fine. Location close enough to be convenient, but far enough from the centre to be not "tourist central" - ideal for my requirements. My only tiny problem was WiFi signal sometimes was weak from my room.
I will be using again.

The décor was reminiscent of a brothel with its furry zebra skin wallpaper and curtains, faux antique chandelier and candelabres, and large mirrors. I was quite excited to discover that my room had a balcony, until I saw it had become a store for broken electrical equipment and its only view was of a very deep hole. Allied to that, the room was very small and there was distinct aroma of smoke. The dancing cockroaches in the shower every evening were also an added bonus and made the room feel just that little bit more welcoming each evening . However, the room did have a fridge, the towels were replaced on a daily basis, and the location has easy access to Symtagma Square and Plaka.

The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that it's fairly clean, there isn't much of anything else. It was a disappointment right from the beginning. We weren't told that the air conditioning was broken in our room when we checked in, so the room was stifling hot all night, plus there is no sound proofing whatsoever and we heard talking and what sounded like drilling late into the night (it was very loud). My partner could hear someone snoring in an adjacent room. I agree with one of the other reviewers, it should be classified as more of a hostel than a hotel. Due to the lack of aircon, I asked for a discount or transfer to another room, I got neither. A better establishment would have rectified the situation by providing some sort of compensation. It is one of the few hotels that still have carpet on the floor which probably contributed to the stuffiness of the room. The shower only has a curtain surrounding it, so it clings on like a dirty shirt while you're trying to wash yourself. I also ran out of hot water for my shower. I certainly wouldn't recommend this "hotel."

Greedings,

The hotel was at a very central spot in a quiet pedestrian street. very good wifi access kai extremely friendly staff available 24/7.
very satisfing breakfast and of course very low priced.
The room was very clean despite the age of the hotel with elevator access and with a very period design (mirror walls etc).

Thank you zapeion!!

Horrible, dirty, there is a disgusting smell of cigarette smoke in the room. We paid the room the day before (we paid the agrred price), then the day after they asked us extra-money we did not understand why. I suggest to find another hotel.

This place has the most ridiculous décor I’ve seen in any hotel, where to start, leopard-print curtains, fake chandelier, wall-to-wall mirrors, light dimmers, more ashtrays than bed… ohh yeah, and a black light. The room was very clean nonetheless and at a very cheap price. If you can stand a perpetual pungent smell of urine and old cigarette smoke this place is worth a night of laughs.

It was very short visit to this hotel (12 hours) so I reallly cannot tell too much. But, the room was very clean and most importantly, location was very nice - 15 minutes to Syntagma square, not too far from Plaka and Acropolis also. I recommend and would stay again.

Front desk staff were very helpful. They provided us with restaurant recommendations which were some of our favourite meals on our entire 3 week trip. We stayed on the top floor of the hotel and the room was small, except the bathroom. The shower was large and had great water pressure. The location was perfect - walking distance to all major attractions.
