The King George Hotel is a lovely hotel and in a great location near Plaka as well as the Parliament Building. The staff was very nice and welcoming and gave us lots of help in using the subway and train system. Our room and bath was a bit on the small side but most were bigger than ours. We had a slight view of the Acropolis though we really hadn't expected any view. We were also next door to the Hotel Grande Bretagne where we had drinks and appetizers one evening with a fabulous view of the Acropolis. We did not have breakfast included in our rate as we were happy to try the many options near the hotel for coffee and breakfast.

The King George is rated by American Express a luxury hotel and is a part of the Luxury Hotel Collection. We are very experienced travelers and tend to stay at luxury hotels. The King George has seen it’s better days, unfortunately. If we are going to pay over$500 a night fora “Deluxe King Size Bed Room” we have expectations of more than a Marriott Courtyard Hotel. It is not up to the Marriott Courtyard standards even. Our room was 330 square feet and the picture on the web site showed a nice comfortable looking reading chair. By the way we were told as week checked in that they had upgraded us even though we paid for a Deluxe… The bed and a small desk with a chair was all that fit in the main room. The bathroom had a European bathtub with walls so thick you needed to be a trapeze artist to climb in and no handrails were to be seen. It was both dangerous and uncomfortable. The toilet was so close to the wall we had to remove the toilet paper roll to sit properly on it and if we had been over 6 feet tall our knees should hit the bathtub wall. There was so little storage in the room it was almost comical if had not been so sad. While a good breakfast was included the dinner we ate in the restaurant cost over $250 with one drink and while the menu sounded great the execution as mediocre for a luxury hotel. Maybe we paid for the view. To top it off the electrical system in our room woke us up twice during the night by the lights coming full on without our touching them. I could go on and on but Marriott who manages this hotel and American Express Platinum who booked us should reconsider how they market this property.

really nice hotel, comfortable bed and pillows, central location (walking distance to plenty of stores and restaurants) breakfast was included in our price so that was great. Its on the rooftop and has a nice view of the acroplis. We were also able to dine easily at the luxury hotel next door- they have a rooftop restaurant also great view and great food (make a reservation and tell them youre staying next door)

The experience at the King George was truly amazing, a very warm welcome by the staff, amazing grooms ! Very attentive to all our needs. The breakfast options were outstanding, truly clean neat flavors. Very centrally located. we organized a private tour to the historical center of Athens and were driven by Dimitris who made this part of our honeymoon an unforgettable one. The concierge services at the hotel were first class. Will definitely come back in our next visit to Greece.

Amazing hotel extremely well located, the hotel is beautiful, small but very nice, everyone who works there is amazing, and just a short walk you can find stores, high end and normal, and reach the acropolis, i definitely recommend this hotel.
