The Attalos Hotel garners commendation for its spotless cleanliness and the welcoming, efficient service staff, with guests frequently praising the quality of the breakfast. Its rooftop bar, boasting stunning Acropolis views, alongside the varied breakfast buffet, are standout amenities that guests love. While the central location near key attractions is a major plus, some guests find the charm of the rooms overshadowed by their outdated style and size, with occasional noise disruptions. Nonetheless, many consider the hotel a good value for the money, offering a cozy stay with budget-friendly options.

This was a great stay for us and our family. The hotel is conveniently located near many popular sights and eateries in Athens and most were within a 10-20 minute walk. The nearby Monastiraki metro station made it easy to get to and from the airport as well.

The rooms are nicely appointed with a couple of chairs, work station, coffee/tea station, closet, mini fridge and TV. The beds were small but comfy enough. Our family had a 2 and 3 bed rooms and we found the 2 bed room was a lot more spacious. The bathrooms in both were small but we appreciated that the hot water came on quickly and there was a small window for ventilation. Our room was quiet at night but our family noted street noise on the lower floors. The elevators were often tricky to catch as they are small but we appreciated it when we didn't feel like the climb to the sixth floor.

The amenities at the hotel were good for the price. The roof top patio and bar area was a highlight and we enjoyed a couple of afternoons up here watching the sun set and the lights turn on at the Acropolis. The prices of the bar were inexpensive and they had a good variety of options. There was a sitting room that had tea and coffee midday and they kept it open in the evening so we were able to sit together and talk. They had laundry service, baggage storage and could help arrange tours or car hires as well at the front desk with their friendly and welcoming staff.

The breakfast at this hotel was very good for the price. They had something for everyone and lots of place to sit. Highlights for us were the Greek yoghurt and the spinach and feta stuffed pastries. They also had mini sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, feta cheese, cucumber, tomatoes, breads, baklava, croissants, dried fruits, fresh fruits, juices and a coffee machine. We looked forward to breakfast each morning.

The hotel provided a good base for exploring and was centrally located. We would say if you're looking to save money and have a good breakfast to start your day in Athens this hotel is a good choice.

The hotel is located at a very convenient location and is easy to locate. We could walk to most of the attractions including the Acropolis museum. For longer distances, the hotel reception always assisted us in arranging a cab. There are plenty of eating places within 500 m of the hotel and we chose to eat each meal at a different restaurant. The hotel itself has a rooftop bar which offers splendid view of the Acropolis.
Do not hire a car if you are staying here, since there the road is quite narrow and chaotic.
Now coming to the room, this is where we were a bit disappointed. The room was very basic, and the bathrooms were too small. You will struggle to use the shower without bumping your elbows multiple times to the wall. Our room had no views as well.
But considering we spent most of our time outside, the room did not matter much.
Overall, it was a good experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay at a convenient location.

Location: Great central location, walkable to Monastiraki Metro subway station, Acropolis and other tourist attractions. Close to many restaurants and shopping. Major grocery store across the street (where we purchased beers and water).
Public Areas of the Hotel: Very narrow reception area but friendly efficient staff to check you in/out. Very small elevator for 3 persons, we split up in two trips in order to get our luggage in with us. Very clean and spacious breakfast room - served from 7am-10am (wish they would start at 6:30am to facilitate early check-out and early full day trips out of Athens). The breakfast selection was superb with hot and cold options, fruit, juices, breads, cereals, tea/coffee - more than ample for anyone to start their day. Gorgeous 7th floor rooftop lounge and bar with fabulous views of the Acropolis. Basement area to store luggage (if needed for early arrivals or late departures).
Our Balcony Room 303: One double bed + one single bed, balcony facing the main street and a side view of the Acropolis. Comfortable beds, clean plush towels (bath & hand only, no wash cloths), spotlessly clean room with air conditioning. Writing desk with 2 chairs, electric kettle with tea/coffee supplies, small fridge (we bought our own milk and stored it here for our morning tea/coffee in the room), small safe in the closet with a manual key (rather than digital keypad). Bathroom with hair dryer, sink and shower - with good hot water and good water pressure. The shower stall was a bit tight and the shower curtain was too flimsy so it kept sticking to your body while you showered. In summary, this was a very clean and well located hotel. It was surprisingly quiet at night, even though it was a main street. We stayed for 4 nights, and would certainly return again in the future. Thanks from Toronto, Canada.

This hotel is located very centrally in Athens, within walking distance of the Acropolis and just five minutes away from the main square. The breakfast was also generous, with cooked items as well as pastries, cake, yogurt and salad. Check out the rooftop bar because it has an amazing view of the Acropolis, especially at night time. The rooms are simple, but clean. Although it took a while to hear up, the shower was powerful and there were some free toiletries. There is also a fridge (although noisy at night) and a secure safe (ours had a key though, so be sure not to lose it).

However, our stay was greatly affected by a large cohort of students on a school trip staying on our floor. We had to put up with loud voices, music and banging doors from 9pm until past midnight, and this was even through wearing ear plugs! They were also up early around half 6-7am. I had to call the hotel reception every single night at around half 10-11pm. To their credit, the hotel staff did ask them to be quiet and the students were apologetic. However, the noise happened night after night and we had to be proactive about going to the hotel staff each time. There was also no apology to us from the hotel staff, it was almost like it was par the course and they didn't care about our experience. The floors only have about 10 rooms each and we were the only ones on the floor who weren't students! It seems ridiculous that they would put adult guests on the same floor, they must know about the noise every time a school stays.

My advice would be not to stay in March, or ask the hotel not to be put on the same floor as any school trips!

I assume all the good reviews must be from people staying in the 2 or 3 balcony rooms which have been done up. This was as close to the worst hotel stay I've ever experienced in 30+ years as it gets.

Location of hotel is good, very walkable to everywhere you want to go, and on a main street so hard to get lost. Unfortunately everything else leaves a lot to be desired.

The decor throughout is extreme outdated and old, possibly early 1990s? Even the famed rooftop bar is extremely tired and worn looking.

The rooms themselves are terrible. Prison level. Very outdated, holes in the walls and the most uncomfortable beds I've ever been on (like a pile of bricks). The hotel advertises blackout curtains... These are not present. Even if they were it wouldn't help as the bathroom door has a window in it. The bathroom itself was horrible, a shower platform surrounded by a shower curtain of dubious cleanliness. Everything felt very cramped and the styling of the room made that worse, rather than better. I actually think it was clean, overall, but just so tired and old that it didn't look it. The fridge in the room was very noisy and would make loud bangs randomly during the night.

We advised the staff who offered us another room which was, unfortunately, identical. When we pointed this out they quickly lost interest and it was clear they couldn't care less.

On checkout you can leave your luggage in the basement (it's just a basement) but the door has no security at all and nobody challenges you going down to get it, so it is a potential issue.

Overall I would really recommend that you avoid this place. I'm not sure why there are 4 and 5 star reviews on here, those were a factor in us booking and I really regret it. For €100/night this place doesn't even meet the expectations one would have at half that price.

We booked one night and left our bags and booked another two nights on return. The carpets are in a deep need of changing as it gives you a feeling that things are not clean even though they are vacuumed. The girl that checked us in for the one night gave us the most horrible room that smelled like stale cigarets.
The bartender on the roof patio is wonderful and cheerful and really welcomed us to Athens. We enjoyed the view before going to bed. The shower spayed water all over and it was too late to change rooms as we were already for bed for a very early flight.
The morning staff were very helpful with wanting to safely store our luggage and get us a flat rate taxi to the airport.
When we came back we got a nicer room with a balcony that had a glimpse of the Acropolis and a few of the busy street. Our 2nd stay was much better and we would consider a stay again as we really enjoyed the area.
We had breakfast on our last day and it was well worth it.

Attalos is a quiet unassuming hotel, located perfectly, meticulously clean with so many nice touches to make you feel at home. We had balcony rooms with a view to the Acropolis. They were roomy and comfortable. The rooftop bar/lounge is amazing. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with so many choices. The only quirk are the little elevators, but you just need to make more trips with luggage. We would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel smells very bad, the smell of something old combined with the smell of cigarettes. It is written in the rooms that smoking is prohibited, but apparently, people smoke anyway, and no one enforces it. The decor is very old, including the furniture, wall-to-wall carpeting, and the pictures on the stairs, all very dated. The room is overall clean but the smell is suffocating. The air conditioner is very old and weak. The staff is kind.

My sister and I have just returned to Ireland after staying in the Attalos Hotel for 5 nights. We had a fantastic time, the staff here were wonderful, helpful, kind and informative. The location couldn't have been better, very central to everything, rooms spotless, breakfast nourishing and nurturing and the rooftop bar was a great asset to relax and view this beautiful City by night, couldn't have been better. Thank you so much.

This hotel laks a lot of the things you might expect for a hotel. The entrance is about 4 meters wide corridor. The elevator is so small that 2 persons with a suitcase each barley will fit. The corridor and outside of your room looks very old and run down.

But the actual room is quite nice with a comfortable bed and quiet AC bathroom has all you need as well. So there is no reason that you should not sleep well. The top selling point ist the rooftop bar, it’s a bit underwhelming decor and layout vice. But the views at STUNNING! It was not crowded at all when we where there so you can easily enjoy a drink an the view of the Acropolis. Drinks are very affordable compared to other rooftop bars in Athens. We where to 4 different this had the best view and cheapest drinks of the all.

I don’t think they’ll be too much privacy, all the buildings face each other. Not sure if they’ll allow it.

Hi SaloniW. I'm not sure about the outside area of the rooftop bar, but as it has in 'inside' area that can be protected from bad weather but still has an amazing view of the Acropolis, I suspect it is open all year round. I also can't confirm yes to your questions as I didn't see any during our stay. The best option is to contact the Attalos Hotel directly. Their team is really helpful and friendly, and respond quite quickly to emails.
