The Stanley Hotel boasts a central location favored by visitors for its accessibility to main attractions and metro, along with a rooftop pool and dining that offer noteworthy views, despite occasional overcrowding. While the staff is generally commended for their friendliness, there have been some reports of slow service. Cleanliness is a strong point, with the cleanliness of rooms and efficient housekeeping standing out. Opinions on value and room quality vary, with guests enjoying the clean and comfortable accommodations but some noting the need for updates. The hotel's modern vibe and poolside ambiance are popular, though service pace can dampen the experience for some.

Well I was a little apprehensive about arriving at this hotel as it was so cheap but I shouldn’t have been! The rooms were nice, comfy, clean and had everything you need for a few days in Athens. The staff couldn’t do enough to help make your stay perfect, they were all very polite and friendly and didn’t expect tips every second. The hotel is very reasonably priced for food and drinks too which is always good. The roof top pool is stunning and you get sanitised pool towels to use with good quality comfy sun beds, again the staff made it even better. I felt this hotel was COVID safe with various measures in place and lots of sanitiser which made me feel at ease. The hotel is on a busy roundabout and next to a metro station but the rooms have an extra sliding window to keep the noise out - this works well.

A couple of points to bare in mind are
1- location, this isn’t in the centre and would be a fair trek down some of the least desirable streets in Athens. However it is right next to a metro station and the taxis are only €3 to the centre, €11 to the beach and €36 to the airport.
2 - breakfast, the English breakfast options like bacon/ sausage were not good. Plenty of other choice though and fresh fruits were lovely.

We stayed at The Stanley Hotel during our week long stay in Athens. The room was clearly labelled as sanitized before we entered and it was beautiful - exactly like the pictures (despite what reviews below this one have said), bathroom perhaps a little dated but the shower was great and a huge mirror so 2 people could get ready at once if need be.

The staff were all very friendly, helpful and accommodating. All staff members were wearing masks at all times. Again, despite previous reviews, the sunbeds on the rooftop pools are all socially distanced so correct precautions were taken. many guests were wearing masks although this was not mandatory as far as I believe.

The breakfast was great, although some dishes a little cold but that's to be expected at a buffet. Again, the tables in the restaurant were socially distanced and as I have previously stated all staff members and many guests were wearing face coverings.

The location was fantastic, a 20 second walk to the nearest Metro and within two stops you were in the heart of Athens with the hustle and bustle of Monastariki Square lined with restaurants, cafés, bars and high street shops. If a Metro wasn't for you though, there was a taxi rank just outside and you can also get Uber to collect you at the hotel entrance.

All in all, for what we got at The Stanley we think it was without doubt one of if not the best hotel we have ever stayed in. It was a beautiful hotel, immaculately clean, amazing pool with spectacular views of the Acropolis. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone any day of the week. Fantastic value for money and we absolutely will be back - sooner rather than later hopefully.

Thank you to all the staff at The Stanley for helping to make our time in Athens one of the most special holidays we have ever been on.

This hotel is very clean and the rooms are very much worth paying for. We got free water in our room every day which was great for us to take with us on our travels throughout the holiday. Whilst the location wasn't super central the hotel is located a minutes walk away from the subway station and it's super cheap and easy to use the public transport here. The staff were friendly, breakfast was included but not the best in my opinion but then I'm not much of a breakfast person. The only real issue was that some work was being done to the hotel when we were staying and we weren't aware of it until we got to the hotel which meant the rooftop bar, one of the reasons we chose the hotel, was closed and it was super noisy during the day. Overall though I would definitely recommend staying here.

Dear Guest, We thank you for staying at The Stanley and taking the time to write about us on TripAdvisor. In regards to your remarks, we would like to inform you that the noise originated from repairing works on the Roof Garden, that were materialized at the time of your stay. The hotel provided the perfect base for our short break in Athens.

When we arrived, we were initially disappointed to find out that the rooftop pool had not opened on the day that it had been advertised on the website. The following day the pool opened after 'technical difficulties' and the rooftop really is very special. A fantastic pool, great views of the acropolis and fantastic service provided by the staff.

The rooms catered for all basic needs. A safety deposit box and fridge was available, along with plenty of hanging space for clothes and there was the regular replenishment of coffee, water and bathroom accessories (shampoo, shower gel, etc).

I am not sure why people question the location? The nearest metro station is situated right outside the hotel with direct links to Syntagma square (main area) and the acropolis (less than 10mins on the underground). The metro pass cost 8euros for 5days and involved all transport systems, including trams and buses to the beach. We walked back to the hotel at 3am Sunday morning and felt completely safe. There is also a bread factory located right next to the hotel which sells amazing cakes and pastries.

The hotel allowed us to delay our checkout time which really helped us with our late flight. I would not hesitate to book here again if I come back to Athens.

We enjoyed a very nice stay at the Stanley. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and had a view of the Acropolis. The complimentary beer & wine were a nice touch. Our buffet breakfast with a pleasing variety of choices was included. The rooftop pool, restaurant and bar area is lovely and again, a pleasing view of the Acropolis. The location is very convenient to the Metaxourghio Metro station and we used it every day of our stay. Unfortunately the hotel is located at the edge of a questionable part of town and we saw people sleeping rough in Karaiskaki Square and it was not a comfortable area to explore on foot.
The food at the restaurant was good, not great and some of the wait staff need lessons in proper mask wearing. The housekeeping staff were efficient but I do wish they had reliably replaced the tea that was used and made sure the glasses were very clean.
Overall a very good stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location of the hotel is ideal and there is a metro station just outside which makes moving round the city super easy.

We also loved the pool on the rooftop, it has a lovely view of the Acropolis. It’s worth mentioning that if you want to get one of the fancy sun loungers advertised, you should get to the pool early as there’s not many and they get taken very quickly.

The only negative opinion we had about the hotel was the rooftop restaurant. The food wasn’t bad but we weren’t thrilled with the service. We ate at the restaurant three times and each time our drinks come slowly and anything extra we asked for was ignored.

Aside from this, the breakfast in the morning was decent and we liked the room. 4/5😊

Just returned from a 4 night stay and was happy with the hotel. The rooms are nice, the shower warm and powerful. You receive fresh water every day and 2 beers and a small bottle of wine as a one off.

Our room had a balcony but with no furniture, so we just moved the chair and the stool from the room onto the balcony to sit out at night.

The roof top pool is nice and all the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is right outside a metro station and there are bars and restaurants in the area.

Would I return to the Stanley..............YES.

I booked a travel deal through Fleetway Travel and they use an outside travel company called “Akron”. Be aware of this company since they do a lot of placement for hotels in Greece. They are the ones that placed us in this hotel, and of all the hotels we were placed in. The Stanley was probably the best of them.

The first problem was the Stanley Hotel is located in an area where it is unsafe to walk around. The locals and people that worked in the area told us to not walk around there. I wasn’t afraid to walk around but my sister was. The biggest plus was the 24-hour bakery on the corner. That was the highlight of staying at this hotel.

One of my other complaints is we were given a handicap room. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem even though we don’t have anyone handicap in our group. The problem was when someone would take a shower all the water went all over the floor. When I say all over the floors I don’t mean a little water. I mean the whole bathroom was completely flooded. We had to call downstairs and the maids had to come to clean our bathroom. It was a mess. There was no shower curtain or barriers so the water just went everywhere. They couldn’t change our room that night because they had no other rooms to give us. I’m not sure if we were given this room because Akron booked us and they probably get the cheapest price because we had reservations eight months in advance with Fleetway.

They eventually moved us into another room which was a lot smaller but at least we didn’t have water all over the floor. The bathroom was very tiny and the view from the rooms was awful but at least it was a clean place to stay.

The staff was very nice but it didn’t really make up for the issues. I think if we had been put in a nice room from the start they’d have a four-star rating. I also think they could have comped us dinner or something else to make up for all the issues. With all the hotel choices in Greece, I wouldn’t come back unless I was promised a way better room for a really good price.

Dear Guest, We thank you for staying at The Stanley and taking the time to write about us on TripAdvisor. First of all, we would like to address your remark concerning the hotel location. We would like to let you know that Metaxourgheio is an inviting neighborhood, known for its many social initiatives, events and activities. It is home to a few small theaters and music venues, as well as art exhibitions. For example, across the hotel there is a well-known theater that hosts very famous comedy actors and offers a daily performance. Additionally, there are multiple high-rated restaurants on Trip Advisor located in our area, with the 24-hour bakery mentioned by you being included in the top 5. Regarding the room comments, we feel sorry for not meeting your expectations and we apologize for the flooded bathroom incident. Nevertheless, we are glad that our Housekeeping staff was informed of this matter and immediately proceeded with cleaning the bathroom. On the dates of your stay, the hotel was under high occupancy and unfortunately, we were unable to allocate you into a different room on the first night, since we were fully booked. On the second day, to ensure your most comfortable accommodation at our property, we proceeded with assigning you into an upgraded room category, even though there was limited availability. We once again feel regretful to know that you were unsatisfied with the small size and the offered view of the room and that your stay with us has left something to be desired. We are always welcoming useful feedback and encouraging our guests to provide their commentary concerning their stay, in order to detect our lacking points and improve them accordingly. We are very grateful for your time and we would like to extend an invitation for a second visit on your next trip to Athens. Please do provide us with the opportunity of offering complimentary upgrade to the higher room categories and personally handling your future booking by contacting us directly at reservations@hotelstanley.gr, referring on the above correspondence. We are confident we will exceed your expectations, should we have the honor to hearing from you again in the near future. Kind Regards, Guest Services Department The Stanley

So disappointing , this is a 2 star hotel at best . We unfortunately were on the 8th floor under the pool and heard everything right above us. Check in was close to 45 minutes as each new person the reception had to rifle through a pile of reservations as thick as a book IN PAPER. They then asked us to fill in all the information they already had when we made the reservation. Little things as those make lines as huge as 45 mins. Got to our room and it was a sardine closet, completely old and dated - no fridge (it was 42 degrees) We had the ugliest view of a massive air conditioner and our varanda was covered in pigeon pegs so we couldn't hang our clothes to dry. Our bathroom was a tiny shower that when you moved you either turned off the water or changed the temp. When we made it to the pool, it was completely full like a can of sardines and on the last day we had a bunch of obnoxious girls singing, grinding on each other, being completely inappropriate in front of our children and the only thing that was done was to ask the group to quiet down multiple times. Why weren't they kicked out? We left and came back a few hours later they were still there! The hotel breakfast was extremely mundane - huge food heaters with eggs bacon etc. and then we found out there was a VIP one for the better guests so for more than 200 euros a night we ate slice cheese and toast . The location is downtown and close to the monuments but extremely sketchy! Will not return or recco to anyone

First the people working in the hotel were outstanding. Super nice and helpful. Our cleaning person was kind and cheerful, helpful in making everyday pleasant as you were greeted with a warm smile as you left the room. While finding the breakfast the first day was challenging, the food was amazing. Everything anyone could have wanted was available, although a few things were heavy on grease, there were plenty of other things to choose from. Although clean, the room itself was dated and our bathroom was awkward. The door stop only allowed the door a small opening which made bumping into the door a daily activity. The clean water from the toilet leaked so if you didn't have shoes on your feet always got wet. It was a tile floor with a drain so not a huge deal, just wet socks. The shower was tricky because the curtain was short so it took a couple of days to learn how to not get the floor wet. The roof was spectacular. The pool, the views of the city, and the bar and restaurant. While a little pricey, the food was good, the servers pleasant and it was convenient. The location isn't in the greatest, but not the worst area. There is security at the front door. The metro station is right there making travel around town quick and convenient. If traveling back the Athens, I might look for a hotel closer to the Acropolis but I would consider staying here again.

It took us about 20 minutes to walk there. We passed an alley with several homeless people/drug addicts not far from the hotel but the big streets were fine. We would recommend this walk by day time though.
