We felt so lucky to stumble into this chic, gorgeous place for dinner, just as we were hoping to extricate ourselves from a bad air-bnb experience. Before we even made a reservation, we were smitten by the contemporary elegance of the ground floor dining room and bar, the perfect service, and beautifully prepared meal of mezze, mushroom risotto and excellent wine. We checked on our phones before we even finished the meal to see if accommodations were available, and were thrilled to find that we could get a double room at a good price for the rest of the week. (Our air bnb allowed us to cancel for nearly a full refund, which made the Gatsby even more affordable.) We enjoyed absolutely 5 star luxury for our 6 night stay. We were told the hotel had opened only about 2 months before our stay, which may be a factor explaining the extraordinary attentiveness of every member of the staff and the perfect appointments of the room. The location is also fantastic, just two blocks from the centrally located Syntagma metro station and an easy quick ride to the Acropolis, National Archaeological Museum, the famous Monastiraki flea market and most other popular Athens destinations. We will dream about this beautiful hotel for a long time to come.

This was one of the best stays I have had in years, and regret that it was only for one night. The hotel is everything you see on their website. But is more than that. From the moment you arrive, you know you are at a special place. The lobby is quite interesting, to say the least, but the hotel staff is just as amazing as its unique decor. Ana Maria at the front desk and everyone there seem genuinely happy to be there and to see you there. They make you feel special from the get-go by offering a welcome drink and walking you to your hotel room and explaining one by one each amenity you have at your disposal. Even the language used by Ana Maria showing you around your room, leaves a good impression: " I made sure to provide you with complimentary water, I already set the heated floors for you".... speaks volumes to the level of care and appreciation they have for the guest.

The room I stayed in was the Juliet Petit, good enough for one person. The room is equipped with everything you might need and then some. Complimentary water, coffee and tea, good quality toiletries, amazing pillows, the bed is insanely comfortable, the lighting scenes...I could go on and on... and I only stayed for one night.

I was looking for quality dinner and again, Ana Maria was wonderful, made a few recommendations and even called the restaurants just to make sure I would have no issue getting seated. At night she stopped by with some beautiful macaroons.
Unfortunately for me, I could not stay for breakfast and I am sure that I missed out on something special.

Will definitely have Gatsby on top of my list, if I do get back to Athens and will happily recommend anyone to stay here.

An amazing hotel! First the room. Top of the line features excluding a light panel with command of all lights and cleaning service requests. Shower was amazing and products are awesome. Restaurant!! So so good! Breakfast was incredible and dinner amazing! Location was perfect as we didn’t take a car we were able to get around easily as two women going to sights, shops and bars all within 5 mins walk. Recommend highly.
We will be back!

First of all the location of this hotel is amazing, we managed to walk to every attraction in less than 20 minutes (main square around 5 mins walk, Acropolis took us about 12-15 min walk). Outside the hotel are some great bars and places to eat (Ella Greek Kitchen was very good) Area was clean and very safe (was on a cruise and some other passengers stayed in very rough sorts of Athens but this hotel was in a great/safe area)

Our room was on the smaller side but had everything we needed and was cleaned daily (including espresso pods being replenished along with water). Only one thing to complain about was the door to the shower. Each time we showered the bathroom would flood and we would and to stuff towels under the door to stop water leaking out, purely down to a bad design flaw. Apart from that the bed was huge and was really comfy.

Staff were all were friendly and attentive, we ate in the restaurant and the food was really good.

Make sure to use the rooftop terrace it’s beautiful for a nice chilled drink, breakfast each morning was great, plenty of choice.

Overall, we would stay again when we return to Athens, love the aesethic of the hotel, great modern design. Thanks for a great stay!

Athens' newest boutique hotel arrival is also the coolest, and the Gatsby Athens ticks all the right boxes! Tucked away in a quiet street within one the city's most vibrant neighbourhoods, the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, and combines a fresh modern design, with a nod to the 1920s art deco scene (tying in nicely with the era where the hotel gets its name from).
First impressions always count, and it's lobby, reception, bar and dining area are simply stunning, and our party received the warmest welcome upon arrival. I has emailed the property in advance requesting a room on a high floor and sure enough I was taken to the fifth floor (the property has six floors in total). I can't say enough about how pretty the rooms are (think contemporary with pops of colour), and I loved my little plant-filled balcony and also the super cool bath products. Blackout curtains and top-quality mattresses ensure a perfect night's sleep. The breakfast and all-day dining menus cater for all tastes (I loved my avocado toast with poached eggs breakfasts) and the coffee is top quality!
Staff are friendly, eager to help and know their stuff. The surrounding neighbourhood has shopping, numerous quirky bars and restaurants, and the Acropolis, as well as the areas of Plaka, Monastiraki and Thiseio, are all walking distance from the hotel. The nearest Metro station is also only minutes away.
The Gatsby Athens is a truly wonderful hotel and I can't wait for my next stay!

Tucked away on an unassuming street has to be the best hidden hotel Athens has to offer.

Exemplary from the moment we were picked up at the airport by the hotel arranged transfer, through to the attentive and accommodating service provided by the hotel staff. The General Manager, Ioannis, takes pride in his hotel and it’s clientele ensuring every need is catered for and is also receptive of comments and feedback.

The name of the hotel inspires thoughts of the 1920’s and the era of excess, the hotel translates this era through the decor and finishing touches throughout to provide a truly unique experience. From the replenishment of toiletries, daily fresh towels, daily housekeeping, bottled water for the room plus tea/coffee and amazing A/C there has clearly been a lot of consideration given to the small finishing touches. We found the hotel very quiet and despite the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city centre location we were well rested, helped by luxury bed linen and a very comfortable large bed.

The hotel moto of “Stay/Play” is exemplified by the bold artwork throughout, cheeky touches such as the “Soft/Naughty” room lighting and the in room “press if you dare” button.

Equally the hotel offers a great central location for couples and families alike to explore the history of Athens.

All of this combined has made our stay truly memorable. If visiting Athens again, we wouldn’t look anywhere else.

This hotel is a very tasteful, modern hotel, very conveniently located to access the airport and ferry terminal by public transport.

The staff are delightful and genuinely eager to please. When we informed them of a 5am checkout they very kindly prepared a breakfast pack for us to have in transit.

We booked a Juliette room for a five night stay which was a huge mistake because the room is very small and the bed takes up most of the room space. The wardrobe space was limited and we had to move our bags into the balcony at night to avoid tripping over them on our way to the toilet during the night.

The air-conditioning was centrally controlled, was very erratic and the room went from warm and stuffy to extremely cold despite us trying to adjust the temperature on the control panel in the room.

Breakfast was made to order and a very good way to reduce food wastage. That said, after three days it was a bit boring.

The music in the bar/restaurant area was incredibly loud (high bass) and terminated at 11pm. We were on level 4 and could hear it in spite of the double glazed windows/door. Earplugs can mute sound but we could feel the vibration from the bass. Fortunately we were out a lot so it did not have a very significant impact on us.

For reasons of loud music and the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the lobby, we did not drink or eat in the bar/restaurant. This feedback was provided to the front desk prior to departure. As it turns out, patrons are allowed to smoke in outdoor areas in Athens and the hotel could not control it. However, the outdoor area is enclosed and the doors to the lobby are open so there is no way of preventing the smell of smoke from spreading into the lobby.

Thanks to some very strict regulations around smoking in Australia, we have become very intolerant of cigarette smoke so it can sometimes be a disadvantage.

I would return to the Gatsby but definitely look at booking a larger room.

I wanted to love this hotel, it is beautifully decorated, modern and clean. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly, and breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a good choice on the menu. (No buffet or self service). The hotel’s location was also perfect.

However, the rooms are small (we had the Bubbly Suite) however the bathroom was a good size. The massive duvet covers over/hides the wooden base of the bed. We lost count how many times we caught/banged our legs on the base whilst walking around it as space was limited, we both returned home with multiple bruises of our legs.

Breakfast was served in the bar which is adjacent to the hotels entrance/reception, with tables literally next to the busy lift/elevator. It always felt cold/drafty so we had to wear a jumper/jacket to breakfast.

The hotel is only suitable for people who go to bed after midnight due to the extremely loud music coming from not only the hotel’s bar but also the bar across the street. There’s no soundproofing and even though our room was on the 5th floor, the noise had a massive impact on the quality of our sleep. Breakfast is served very late, 8-12 noon, so this should have been a warning sign.

We stayed 4 nights at this achingly cool boutique hotel. The interior design is beautiful, and is but one highlight of the hotel. Staff are unfailingly helpful and polite. The front desk team went out of their way to organise tours, while the restaurant crew are efficient and super friendly. The restaurant (on ground floor of hotel) has a small but great menu (especially the breakfast) and drinks selection is terrific. Coffee is excellent - and roasted on-site! Love the music selection too: combination of new and pop classic covers. (As we were checking out, an old 10CC song was playing.) We stayed in a Juliet suite, which is perfect for a couple. Room is a bit bigger than typical European size, furniture is chic and bed very comfortable. Bathroom is huge, shower has hot water and great water pressure. The body wash and hair care products are also top quality. And the lighting system (and switches) are state of the art - very easy to use and operate lights and a/c. Rooftop terrace is a lovely spot for a quiet drink; although it doesn't have a bar, you can order drinks via WhatsApp and staff will bring it up. We loved our stay and hope to visit again. All the best from Australia.

My friend and I were looking for a city break and weren't too fussed on location, we just wanted to have the best possible time and thanks to the team at Gatsby Athens we had exactly that. It was our first time in Athens and our stay could not have been more comfortable. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff are attentive, so much so that they kept checking in with us to ask if there was anything more they could do. They really went above and beyond. Breakfast was included with our stay and was a la carte, not a buffet and what a luxury that was. Our food every morning was delicious and served til 12pm we could afford a leisurely start to our days. On our first morning, we asked our waiter to help us master some basic Greek phrases so we could be polite which proved so successful that there were a number of occasions in which restaurant staff began speaking to us in Greek before we had to embarrassingly confess we only knew how to say hello, goodbye, please and thank you! He also gave us some advice on where to go and what to see in the city - including some sites we didn't already have on our list and all of them were amazing. We only had dinner in the hotel once as we didn't want to miss out on all the amazing food Athens has to offer but it was delicious and reasonably priced. We often stopped in at the bar for a night cap though and the cocktails were sublime, the atmosphere buzzing - but thankfully could not be heard in our rooms. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the city on foot and close to Syntagma metro station for the airport - they even told us the train times and what ticket we needed to buy on check out. The only thing to watch out for that slightly threw us was the smart technology in the rooms for controlling the light switches. We accidentally left "do not disturb" on as it was controlled by the same control panel as the lights when we went out one day but staff made it clear we could still ask for our room to be spruced with a postcard left under our door. We didn't mind and just wanted fresh towels and were able to get some promptly. I'd love to visit Athens again and I'd recommend everyone stay here.
